The Inquisitor transports players to the year 1500 A.D. in an alternate historical timeline where Jesus escaped his crucifixion and, instead of forgiveness, brought violent vengeance on all the non-believers. In a world full of unrelenting sinners, a trusted servant of Christ Vengeful, Mordimer Madderin, is sent to uncover the sinister secrets and dark forces plaguing the city of Koenigstein.
In The Inquisitor, players find themselves drawn into a world of deception and conspiracy. Where every gritty twist and turn in the story of Koenigstein, and the story Mordimer himself, unfolds before the player’s eyes. Each player decision will carry consequence and informs the final outcome, offering branching storylines and missions that will test morality and determine the fate of both the sacred and the sinful denizens of Koenigstein.
With a unique skillset, Mordimer will bring retribution upon the malicious forces that have invaded the city, using his sleuthing abilities to interrogate suspects to mete out judgement in this cruel era of justice. But the mysteries of Koenigstein run far deeper than the faithless transgressions that have befallen the surface. Mordimer will need to descend into the mysterious Unworld ruled by the malevolent Murk, to uncover the mysteries hiding within the souls of the heretics.

In a world where Christ Merciless descended from the cross to take revenge on his tormentors and triumph over them, it will take more than faith to perform this mighty task.
You have been sent to the City of Koenigstein to investigate mysterious events and find yourself caught in a fierce power struggle between two prominent local groups. Throughout your investigations you will encounter dark secrets, cruelty and human sin; and uncover something far darker, threatening, and more dangerous.
You should play The Inquisitor if you enjoy thrilling crime or detective stories and if you like to actively collect hints and clues to reveal secrets that unfold into a mature and rich fantasy adventure. The dark medieval setting, paired with well-placed gore elements, add to the overall grim atmosphere.
As a player, it depends solely on you how you approach this - will you commit the ‘sin of mercy’ (according to Mordimer's belief, in the alternative version of religious reality) and show compassion to the spiritually weak? Or will you be the merciless hand of God and achieve your goals through torture and intimidation? Depending on your choice, the game world and its characters will adapt accordingly.
But there’s much more to it – at its core, The Inquisitor is a dark fantasy adventure, which also includes real-time action combat (stand-off encounters and boss fights) as well as The Unworld, a hidden world that comes with its own set of rules. Accessible through a special skill set of the main character, the Unworld allows you to gain insight hidden to everyone else to help you to solve your mission. However, you’ll need to keep the dangers in our world at bay, whilst managing your own capacities as nothing in life comes without a cost.

With only 3 weeks to go until the release of The Inquisitor, we have released a third developer diary, detailing the dark and intricate lore behind the world of the upcoming dark fantasy adventure game, The Inquisitor.
The video, entitled “The Worlds of the Inquisitor”, follows Game Designer Damian Pawlak, Writer Przemek Wróbel, and Head of Production Kuba Karolewski as they discuss the role of the Unworld, the Church, and the city of Koenigstein within the game.
The Inquisitor launches February 8 on Steam, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with a special 10% launch discount PS Plus members who purchase the Standard and Deluxe Editions between February 8th and February 15th.

As the release of "The Inquisitor" draws near, we have released a second Developer Diary in our series of behind-the-scenes videos detailing the upcoming dark-fantasy adventure game, The Inquisitor. This video, entitled “The Team Behind the Tale” highlights members of the development team as they discuss their inspiration to work on the title along with their favourite moments in creating an immersive fantasy world.
