Select 'Play Wildfrost With Mods' when you launch Wildfrost
Select 'Mods' in the Main Menu

Mod Spotlight: Snowfall

One of the experiences we want to highlight is Snowfall! It’s a clever mod by a talented team of 5 where you play as the BAD GUYS working their way through to the various biomes in reverse order to take down the Snowdwellers.

‘The Wildfrost is growing more anxious. It knows the adventurers that come to slay its source will never end. There is only one way to ensure the eternal storm...destroying Snowdwell. The Guardian calls upon his minions to storm Snowdwell in retaliation, hoping to bring an end to the last civilization among the snow. Will the Snowdwellers survive the incoming storm? Or will the Wildfrost forever rest upon the land?’

SNOWFALL flips the script and introduces a PLETHORA of new companions, charms, enemies, bosses and items. With companions such as the portly Pebble Hog, or the Spicy Pipper, you’ll no doubt be cooking up new strategies to keep those Snowdwellers snowed under.

Your new foes will have absolutely no chill. With entirely new factions developed for you to fight based off the synergy from the playable cards within the base game, there’s so much to love in this mod. The Cleaving Crowers are also a force to be reckoned with! Though they may fight amongst themselves, their strength is fueled by the loss of their fallen comrades. It's fun to see them in action, but be prepared for an intense battle if you cross their path!

There’s plenty more on the way besides Snowfall so keep a keen eye out in the Wildfrost discord for more magical mods.

First up, let’s introduce Nova!

If you’ve got eyes as sharp as Pootie’s, you probably remember Nova from our key art by Carles, dating all the way back to the Wildfrost launch. Fans have been clamoring for her inclusion, and we’re hyped to announce she’s finally here to kick some serious Pengoon butt!

We also have two new enemy types from two new battles to threaten to put you on ice: The Inky Sacks and Gunk Bugs!

But don’t be fooled by their cute clan names, because these critters will funk up your party if you don’t get your deck in order.

We heard you liked Noomlin Biscuits, so naturally we thought we’d add some Zoomlin Wafers to the mix too!

This delicious treat is only one of several new cards that add the adorable new addition to the game: the Zoomlins, which will let you play a card for free, but only once before they run away!

Last but not least, Balatro’s Jimbo joins the pack! You’ll have to find out how to unlock him, but for now, let's just say a certain short guy, known for his lack of fashion could help you out… 👀

We recommend looking over the entire changelist found on the Official Wildfrost Wiki in your own time, as there’s a lot that’s been tweaked, balanced and added in this update!

To celebrate the holidays, we're excited to present our biggest update for Wildfrost yet. Loaded with powder-fresh features, balance adjustments, and bug fixes. This wouldn't have been possible without our dedicated beta participants opting in and giving us so much feedback to improve the game – you're our true MVPs! With that said, let's dive right in...

In an effort to balance the gameplay, we've lessened the base game difficulty by eliminating aspects like Companion Injuries. The challenge, however, returns (with a vengeance) in our all-new Storm Bell difficulty system! We’ve added 13 unique Storm Bells, each bringing forth its own set of trials; you'll face reduced enemy wave bell encounters, increased shop and Crown prices, even more charm-holding enemies, and a whole bunch of cursed crowns and charms for extra measure.

Each Storm Bell carries a point value, allowing you to handpick the level of challenge you wish to face, and to take on the True Final Boss™, you'll need to amass a certain number of points.

But wait, there’s more! Vanquishes with Storm Bells activated will now unlock glorious Gold card frames to mark your victory, as well as Chiseled frames for those normal wins. We've also rejigged the Daily Voyage, bringing in a random mix of Storm Bells for a more unpredictable challenge. And for those who have been requesting a less flashy gameplay experience, we've added an option to disable the Snow Screen transition in the settings menu.

We’ve also made a whole bunch of balances changes and mechanical updates to cards across the tribe pools for you to check out and let us know what you think.

We recommend looking over the entire changelist found on the Official Wildfrost Wiki in your own time, as it’s such an extensive update.

Great news! We’re launching 1.0.6 into beta and we’d love for you to come check it out! Below you can read all about what’s in this new update, but before we get into it, we’d like to remind you that these changes are subject to feedback and testing, which means they might not make it into the full 1.0.6 rollout. The primary reason for the beta in the first place is to better understand what doesn’t work, as much as what does. So we’d love your support in figuring out what that looks like :)

Please note that opting into beta replicates your current save file so you'll have access to your main branch unlocks. However, progress made during this beta may not carry over when 1.0.6 launches proper, and opting out will revert back to your 1.0.5 save.

To opt-in:
- right click the game in your Steam Library
- select Properties...
- select the Betas tab
- click the Beta Participation dropdown and select the "beta" branch

The changes!

Extended leader select screen
Before starting a run, there’s now the option to choose a tribe, then be presented with a choice of 3 leaders from that tribe. We’ve also tweaked & added some new leader abilities.

The Enemy Wave Bell:
Players can ring the enemy wave bell to call the next wave of enemies early. Enemies will now no longer auto-deploy when the board is cleared.
This change will allow new players to focus on each wave at a time without getting overwhelmed by new enemies, and have a breathing room before each wave to deploy new cards/buff up companions. Experienced players will be able to use the wave bell to call in enemies. This will be great for setting up bigger combos, and to better utilise specific cards such as Pombomb, I.C.G.M, Fungo Blaster, etc.

More Sun Bells!
Three new sun bells to choose from after beating a boss

Crown changes
You will now gain a crown from each boss battle.
Crowns in shops start cheaper, then get more expensive each time you buy one.

Enemies drop more blings & Kill Combos give less blings
Previously, battles that have many small enemies would yield much greater bling counts compared to their alternative battles. This change balances the difference between different fights while still keeping combos a valuable mechanic to get extra blings.

Reworked Gnome Event
Gnome Traveller event can now contain cards from ALL Tribes and only 2 of the 3 cards will come with Junk
This change makes the Gnome Traveller feel less underwhelming by opening up countless new strategies that were previously impossible to achieve.

Injured Companion Event
A new map event which will give you a companion from your previous failed run.

Charm Changes
Enemies can no longer hold 2 of the same charm in a battle.
Added more charm options for enemies.

Target Icons
Cards in battle now show which card they will attack when hovered over, this can be toggled off in the settings.

Other Changes
- Bite Charm now gives 3 Teeth instead of 4
- Increased Snobble’s Health
- Increased Spice given by Peppereaper

Bug Fixes
- Fixed Van Jun's useless effect as an enemy
- Fixed Monch + Soulbound issue

We've been working hard behind the scenes on an update which makes the game more accessible and enjoyable for everyone, especially new players! 1.0.5 makes the game more intuitive and easier to understand, without sacrificing any of the depth and complexity that we think makes Wildfrost so challenging and fun.

For players looking for fresh content and new challenges, we’d also like to double confirm that we’ll be adding more in the coming months. Check out our handy roadmap below to see what we have in store and gear up to embark on new adventures and face new challenges in the world of Wildfrost! 🃏🌨️

Fixes and Tinkers update - v1.0.5 (Live now!):

Turn Order Eye Button
When pressed, this button will show the order in which cards in battle will act. This will help new players read the battle order more easily and plan moves accordingly.

Improved Tutorial
We’ve extended the tutorial to include the following: moving companions, enemy special attacks, crown interactions and much more. We hope these changes will help onboarding for new players and be a helpful reminder for those who start new save files.

2 New Enemies!

Gogong will appear in early battles to teach the player about Smackback and Reaction effects.
Minimoko replaces the Makokos in the Infernoko boss battle, to make this battle’s difficulty more in line with the Bamboozle boss battle.

Battle-Specific Map Icons
Every battle now features a unique icon and name, allowing you to see which battle you’ll be coming up against, and switch around your Companions and Crowns before the battle to prepare accordingly.

Treasure Skip Button
You can now leave a treasure event without taking an item. This has been a highly requested option from players, so it’s now possible in the game (:

Card Balance Changes:
- Hazeblazer: +Health, damages self instead of allies
- Firefist: +Health & -Counter
- Mini Mika: +Counter
- Fizzle: -Health
- Biji: +Health
- Devicro: +Health
- Van Jun: effect changed: Add +2 Attack and +2 Health to all summoned allies
- Ice Dice: effect changed: Apply 1 Block to a random ally, Apply 1 Block to a random enemy
- Soulbound Skulls: Add Soulbound to an ally, add Soulbound to a random enemy. Soulbound now only activates on sacrifice
- Bom Barrel: has Barrage instead of ‘Hits all Enemies’
- B.I.N.K: effect reduced to 2

- Fixed being able to use non-Crown cards during Crown phase:
This interaction allowed players to draw new cards and play them for free before the battle starts, and was not intended to be a part of the game (sorry, Mini Mika enjoyers...)
- Fixed Broken Vase or Lumin Goop sometimes not showing up
- Fixed issues with non-target cards (e.g. Pombomb) not returning to hand properly
- Fixed Berry Blade not healing sometimes
- Fixed being unable to recall Ink'd Hogheaded/Spark units
- Fixed Durian Charm not removing certain effects
- Fixed Durian Charm removing status effects as well as effects
- Fixed Japanese translation errors
- Fixed Faith not working on Shade Wisp & Blank Mask
- Fixed Vesta taking double damage from Teeth
- Fixed Bombom instantly taking double damage when gaining Demonize from Gok
- Fixed issues with reserving duplicate companions
- Fixed Heartforge effect occurring while in hand
- Fixed being able to buy duplicate charms from the merchant

Wildfrost Day 1: Hints & Tips for New Players

First of all we'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has picked up Wilfrost today - the feedback has been amazing and we can't wait to share our future plans with you all! ːsteamhappyː

Most of you will be completely new to the wintry world of Wildfrost. So, we've put together this handy hints and tips sheet for if you ever want a quick rejog of the memory and a glance over everything from the tutorial.

Gameplay Tips
In Battle:

Cards auto-attack in Wildfrost when placed on the battlefield once their ‘counter’ reaches zero/0. Different cards will have different counters, and you can strategically manipulate both your own and enemy card counters by delaying or speeding them up with special items.
You can also move cards around on rows to target different enemies (a standard card with no modifiers such as ‘barrage’ will auto-hit the card in the front opposite row)
Hover over any card for more info & right-click to see a full card overview - especially handy for boss battles to learn more about their modifiers and base stats!
This is the enemy wave countdown - be prepared!
You can reshuffle your hand to get more card options once the bell has counted down - you don’t need to wait until your hand is empty!
You can see an overview of your full deck by clicking the backpack icon on the bottom left on the battle screen
If one of your cards is low on health, it may be a good idea to withdraw them from the battlefield to heal them up. Drag their card over to the right-hand pouch next to the bell to heal.
Protect Naked Gnome at all costs. Outside of Battle:
Found a charm? If you decide to ‘Save for Later’ you can equip the charm to a card via the Deck Overview page. Warning: Once you’ve attached a charm you can’t unequip it!
You can rename your Leader & Companions (ink bottle icon) - a fun way to engage top chat members (just make sure they don’t meet a frosty end 👀)
Make sure to check in back at the town of Snowdwell from the map menu or on the ‘DEAD’ screen to see if you’ve unlocked any helpful cards! The further you travel in your adventure the more you’ll be able to rebuild Snowdwell! (Check out the Pet House, Tribe Hall, Inventors Hut, Hot Springs, Icebreaker Cabin etc. for any new unlocks or challenges)
