After a long and exciting journey, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! We’re thrilled to announce that Wild Indigo Ranch 1.0 is out now! It’s been quite the adventure, full of twists and turns, and we couldn’t have done it without your amazing support and feedback during the development. Thank you!
Whether you’re a new cowpoke or a seasoned cowboy, we’re excited for everyone to jump into our cozy western world. Now, let’s dive into everything you can expect from the 1.0 release of Wild Indigo Ranch.
What’s New in 1.0?
We’ve added a lot of quality-of-life improvements and exciting new features that can be noticed from the beginning of the game. We’ve added a new biome, Westwood, which features a dense forest, making it the perfect place for dangerous wildlife, bandits, and mystery but also a great place to find rare resources and meet new characters.
Here are the highlights:
Story Update
Uncle Howard’s story is finally complete! In the 1.0 update, you’ll meet new characters connected to the story. With their help, explore Westwood, face Grit Corp, and uncover what happened to Uncle Howard.
New Biome: Westwood
Explore Westwood, a dense, mysterious forest filled with dangerous wildlife, bandits, and hidden treasures. This new biome is a strong contrast to the dry and rocky areas of the Wild River Prairie, featuring a more lush and vibrant scenery full of secrets and new things to discover.
New NPCs: During your adventures in Westwood you will meet an expanded cast of new characters who will help unfold the story of Wild Indigo Ranch and what happened to Uncle Howard.
Teddy - The Hunter
New Quests: With the new characters also come new quests to fulfill. Join your new friends on their quests, lend a helping hand and they will return the favor.
New Enemies: On your journey through the woods you also face off against some familiar faces: Grit Corp and bandits who are still in cahoots. Grit Corp are cutting down and destroying the woods, while the bandits are helping them trap animals. You will also come across new threats in the form of hostile boars, bats, and whatever dastardly inventions Grit Corp will throw at you.
New Recipes & Construction Elements: We’ve added many new recipes, meals, and construction elements for you to discover. Enjoy some fine western delicacies like a refreshing milkshake during your breaks from exploring and building your dream ranch.
Ledger Overhaul
After several updates and listening to your feedback, we've improved the way our ledgers work. Completing tasks in the ledger will earn you Trust, which is key to building relationships with the new vendors. Besides trust, you'll also earn cash from these tasks, which you can spend at the vendors to buy new recipes.
Vendors
Vendors have arrived in Wild River Prairie! Build trust with them, and based on their specializations, you can get new construction elements, food recipes, and tool upgrades. The more trust you have, the more rare the wares will be.
Painting
Give your ranch a makeover! Unlock painting recipes, gather ingredients, and make your ranch stand out with a splash of color and impeccable style!
Taming
Taming is back! While taming has long been a part of the game, it was removed because the taming mini-game was hard to understand and didn't feel right. Based on your feedback we’ve made some adjustments and it’s ready to be reintroduced in the game. You can finally give Rosie a much needed break and get yourself a brand-new ride!
Fast Travel
Wild River prairie is a big place and with the introduction of our Westwood, there is a lot of land to cover. But there is no time to waste when you have people to help or porches to build and you are missing those last two pieces of iron ore that didn’t fit in your backpack because you just found a cool bear hat.
To help out with that we’ve introduced fast travel - just tell the friendly totem where you’d like to go (make an offering - nothing is for free in the West cowpoke!) and you’ll be there in a jiffy!
Full Controller Support & Custom Keybindings
You asked, and we delivered! Wild Indigo Ranch now has full controller support and customizable keybindings for both controllers and keyboards. Play your way!
Can I Use My Old Saves?
1.0 comes with many new features that did not exist during Early Access. One example of that would be the vendors, which also introduce a currency system, a new way to interact with the characters of the world, and how to learn recipes. Because these systems did not exist before old saves/adventures will not be compatible with all the new features.
To experience all the new content coming with 1.0, everyone will have to start a new adventure/save at launch.
What’s Next for Wild Indigo Ranch?
Our main focus after launch will be fixing any issues players might encounter. At the same time, we’ll be working on ideas for future updates, new content, and quality-of-life improvements. Even after Uncle Howard’s story, there’s plenty of fun to be had in Wild Indigo Ranch! With the world of Wild Indigo Ranch being an open-world sandbox, you can play how you want, for as long as you want even after finishing the main story.
