The first Crysis , released way back in 2007, before a recession and an AI boom, was the real measuring stick of whether you had a PC worthy of being called a 'gaming PC'. The impressive visuals, intense action, and the ever-awesome Nanosuit made it a staple of the best FPS games
In another frustrating blow to videogame preservation, Crytek's classic first-person shooter, Crysis , is no longer available to purchase on Steam. While the original was delisted in 2021, you could still purchase it via the Crysis Maximum Edition bundle, which included the game'
May 31, 2022: Crytek tells PCGamesN that it has "never worked" with this artist and the pictures are not from them. Concept art for a supposed "unannounced Crytek triple-A project" appeared online, supposedly showing the next game from the studio behind Crysis 4 and Hunt: Showdow
A modder has transformed an RTX 3090 rig into a nanosuit inspired Crysis gaming PC, and you don't even need to ask whether it can run Crysis. The monstrous machine resembles Crytek's iconic helmet, clad with a menacingly red visor and an open panel design. Created by Reddit user
There's a new Crysis 4 lead game director, and the anticipated FPS game sequel is now headed up by a former developer on the recent Hitman games, and who was Hitman 3's game director too. Earlier this year, developer Crytek finally confirmed a long-standing rumour by admitting th

It's been 13 years since Crysis first started bringing computers to their proverbial knees, and underneath all that hardware-melting tech was one of the best sandbox FPS games out there. Its sequels never quite hit the same highs, but it looks like another shot is coming - a seri
Crysis Remastered review Crysis is a first-person stealth playground and a staggering spectacle, but new tech wizardry doesn’t justify the new price. Developer: Crytek Publisher: Crytek Release: Out now On: Windows From: Epic Price: £28/€30/$30 Crysis was always about more than i
I’m still in the process of putting Crysis Remastered through its paces on PC, but if you want to see for yourself if your PC can indeed run Crytek’s revamped FPS classic, then you’ll be pleased to know the game has its own dedicated benchmarking tool. You won’t find it in the ga
Crysis Remastered is out and yes, you can probably run it. You will need to buy it though, because that’s how these things work. The remaster includes visual updates like 8k resolution textures and ray-traced reflections for those of you willing to put your systems through their
Famed for its steep requirements and melting PCs the world over, the original Crysis was arguably one of the most important PC games of its day when it first came out in 2007. Not only did it push current PCs to their limits, but it also became a touchstone for the avid benchmark

After a long sleep, Crysis appears to be waking up. Crytek have been busy in the meantime with the likes of Hunt: Showdown while Crysis took something of a cold-storage nap. The super serious super soldier FPS series added Crysis 3 to the stables back in 2013. Seven years later,
The best shooters endure. While other genres warp beyond recognition, there is something solid about the first-person shooter that makes it as dependable as a nice big AK-47. Maybe it s the gung-ho simplicity – look down a barrel and pull the trigger. It’s as fun to fire a double
The arrival of Nvidia's RTX line of graphics cards may not have immediately ushered in a new era of games built around the concept of ray traced rendering but it has put the technique on the map, with results impressive enough to inspire developers to add ray traced effects to ex
“Will it run Crysis ?” was an oft-expressed anxiety of mid-noughties PC gaming, but here in the chaotic end-times of 2018 we’re faced with a new one: “Crysis can’t run Crysis.” Come October, there’ll be no more multiplayer nanosuit shenanigans: Crytek are shutting the online comp
Three fallacies I’m occasionally guilty of believing: 1) The Oculus Rift does not involve any of the physicality of the HTC Vive 2) VR gaming is riding a cart to minigame hell 3) There’s a ceiling on how good VR games can look Crytek’s beautiful and involving Oculus Rift game The
Global illumination. Volumetric clouds. Sub-surface scattering. These are words that make me hot. But I know this feeling is forbidden. I should care about games , not the empty pursuit of photorealism. But oh my, it s so exciting, and not empty. In fact, I think that right now p
Have You Played? is an endless stream of game recommendations. One a day, every day of the year, perhaps for all time. When later entries in a series go wrong, the disappointment tends not to blight the original people liked so much. Unfortunately Crysis couldn’t maintain the thi
