The update, along with the game Zool Redimensioned, was developed by the Sumo Digital Academy, a team of apprentices currently studying a development programme which creates new pathways into the games industry. The Academy is the first in the UK games industry to be recognised by the government and the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education. We are incredibly proud to be supporting SpecialEffect’s One Special Day fundraiser alongside other companies and developers who are raising vital funds for physically disabled people.
Starting now and through to Monday, October 10 at 10 AM PDT (6PM GMT+1) you can save 50% on Zool Redimensioned and for every copy of the game sold or gifted during this time we will donate 100% of revenue to the SpecialEffect charity. Together we can really make a difference to people’s lives.
It isn’t just us who are supporting the One Special Day event, loads of other great games companies are doing so too; check out the #OneSpecialDay Steam Page for more info.
For one day each year, companies, and studios from all sectors of the games industry are invited to raise vital income for the gamer’s charity SpecialEffect and show the world how games can change lives for the better. It’s called One Special Day, and this year it’s being celebrated on 7 October, a milestone date for the charity as it’s their 15th anniversary.
The support of the partners – and their communities – enables SpecialEffect to help the thousands of physically disabled people every year who ask for their assistance. The charity’s teams of therapists and technical specialists provide advice, assessments, and customised technology loans to help transform the lives of individuals with disabilities. In turn, the charity freely shares what they learn with the games industry to help make their products and games easier to use for as many people as possible all over the world.
Last year, over 80 partners raised a total of over $800,000 between them – a record amount that has bought many magic gaming moments to disabled players across the globe.

Attention Ninjas of the Nth Dimension!
We’ve added some new features, but wanted to roll these out in a beta branch first for you to try.
In order to access the Beta branch in Steam you need to go to the properties for the game (right click on “Zool Redimensioned” in your Steam library and select properties). In the popup that appears, select Betas and then enter the password where it asks for the beta access code.
Password: cosmosdweller
Click on "Check Code" and then select the new “betafeatures” branch from the dropdown menu in the same window. If nothing new appears in the dropdown menu then check the code and try restarting Steam. Zool Redimensioned should now have a [Beta Features] option in brackets after the name.
Please note that the Beta Features version may contain new bugs as well as new features and you can easily switch back to the main branch through the same dropdown menu. Please let us know of any bugs you find in the Beta in this thread.
v 1.0.5
Various minor unreported bug fixes
The level select screen now correctly reports when zero death badges have been awarded
The game now runs on some older DirectX10 graphics cards (previously asserted on loading)
There are now three camera zoom option in the Display settings: 640x360 (Redimensioned), 512x288 and 426x240 (A widescreen version of the original Zool resolution). Ultimate Ninja mode now defaults to 1992 Wide, but can be changed in either mode, apart from in boss battles, tutorials and cut-scenes which zoom out automatically
The “par” and “developer” times to beat are now shown in the results screen
I'm squinting, but I don't see a single Chupa Chup anywhere in the trailers or screenshots for Zool Redimensioned. Playing the original platformer back on the Amiga was the first time I encountered product placement in a videogame, but it seems Zool's love for a particular brand
I'm squinting, but I don't see a single Chupa Chup anywhere in the trailers or screenshots for Zool Redimensioned. Playing the original platformer back on the Amiga was the first time I encountered product placement in a videogame, but it seems Zool's love for a particular brand of lollipops has been lost amid the switch to modern resolutions.
You can find a trailer below for the remaster, which is out now.
Zool Redimensioned has many new accessibility and quality of life improvements added: Redimensioned mode has a double jump which makes platforming and combat encounters much more accessible for gamers of all skill levels Redimensioned mode doesn't require you to collect anything

The levels have been substantially reworked/ redesigned to help them flow better, make secrets more fun to find and make it harder to get lost.
Certain in game graphics have been reworked to make things clearer to the player

The game features an assist mode with features like turbo mode firing and infinite double jumps making the game more accessible for anyone or just providing fun new ways to play the game (this does disable achievements though)
