Dear Super Dungeon Maker community!

this update took way longer than anticipated, but finally we we're able to release it for all of you!

⭐ What's new?

Added a Recommended Dungeons tab to the online dungeon browser where the Dev team will add a few of their favorite player created dungeons in the future.
Map now automatically focuses on player position when opening it.
Added save popup when exiting the dungeon after collecting the golden egg in the editor.

🔥 What's been fixed?

Player is now correctly shown on the map when playing a dungeon.
Added Tooltips for some objects that were missing.
Online Dungeons would sometimes play the wrong music.
Stairs were missing in some dungeons.

👍 What are "Recommended Dungeons"?

The SDM team might just stumble across a fun dungeon by themselves or via the share your dungeon thread on our Discord. Just always try to create the most fun dungeons and it may very well be one of the newest additions to the list! The list is a wild collection of fun, long, short, puzzles, adventures and generally everything great about SDM! Go check them out if you want to spend a good time!

Also if you need friends to share your dungeons with, or just want to hang out with a great creative community, definitely check out our Discord server! We've got several ways to share your dungeon or recommend other fun dungeons as well!

Dear Super Dungeon Maker community!

first of all, we're sorry fixing the bugs took us a longer than expected. The timing of those bugs was quite unfortunate, but now we're ready to release the fix for the bugs that snuck into our major 1.1 update.

**Creating and completing dungeons should now work as expected**, still we're keen on your experience and hope you wont find any of the bugs below!

🔥 What's been fixed?

Crystal Switches and Blocks (Red & Blue) would sometimes reset when walking into a new room when playing a dungeon.
Triggers would not work correctly after walking too close to or through a big door.
Feather dungeon was missing a door.
Red-Slime would turn into green slime when stunning it using the hookshot.
The Hall of Fame Area and some Dungeons where missing some tiles and objects.
Reveton could be killed without bombs by stunning it first.

Feedback is always welcome! We are looking forward to fix other bugs you submitted, but those were definitely the ones that cause the most headache.

⭐ Hey Super Dungeon Maker creators! ⭐

We hope you had a great start into the new year! Our team is also back from vacation and even though we're greatful for all the positive feedback and inventive creations with the latest new additions and features to Update 1.1, we also received several reports of new bugs that need fixing.

Especially the Crystal Switch bug that resets the switch per room, as well as the boss and trap door bugs that don't react to triggers as intended, are high on our priority list.

Thanks to you and your feedback, in Discord and via the ingame report tool, we've gathered enough information to squash those bugs with the next update. Until then some dungeons and creations might not work as intended. Hold tight, we're on it!

Dear Super Dungeon Maker community!

We're excited to unveil the latest Update with all the Kickstarter Rewards in place - and MORE! The update is now available for everyone on Steam and Nintendo Switch. Dive in to see what we've got in store for you:

🔥 What's new?

Added two new dungeon themes, each with one special unique floor tile.

Lava Theme - It's hot!

What's special? Ice blocks have an additional function on the Lava theme, they transform 3 burning lava tiles into 3 walkable stone tiles!

Tomb Theme - Skeletons beware!

What's special? Cobwebs are placed on holes, making them traversable without a feather or hook!

New Enemies - Six times the fun!

A bunch of new enemies, with new mechanics that will challenge you in a heated moment! You not only need to check your back, you'll also have your Hook, Bomb and Spin attack ready, if you want to surive the fight!

Reveton (Skeleton Chicken - Bomb him!)
Projeggslime (Slime with projectiles - Attack straight on!)
Sparkull (Fire Skull - They just bounce of walls?!)
Hoohoo (Ghost Chicken - Spin attack!)
Shieldforker (Forker with a shield - You need the Hook!)
Homefly (Chasing Fly - It's chasing me!)

New Features - Eggs, Corn, Blocks and Doors!

What's special? The golden corn can be found throughout a dungeon. You can use them either as a form of collectible and side quest to the player, but also as a new way to block of paths or even create "vendors". The doors and blocks always use 10 corn to unlock, so place them wisely!

Golden Eggs - They are now placeble items! 🔥🔥 You can place multiple eggs as multiple endings on every level of the dungeon now. It's pretty epic!
Gold Corn - Hide it in grass, chests or just place them on difficult to reach places!
Cornblocks - Unlock a 1x1 block with 10 gold corn
Corndoors - Unlock the door with 10 gold corn

Pets - Some are Kickstarter exclusive!

As many of the new features, Pets were also a Kickstarter reward. You can get a pet bottom left in the town, but some pets are exclusive. They are cute and follow you around during your dungeon adventures!

A quick recap - Recent changes you might have missed!

Steam Trading Cards (Steam Only): personalize your gaming profile.
Added the "Hall of Fame" to the village hub You can play six dungeons created by our most dedicated Kickstarter supporters here
Traps will now trigger hit and barrier switches. Use your creativity now to build some automated contraptions.
Reworked the Undo-System to be more stable
Replaced the fill bucket tool with a rectangle tool for tile mode
We added a button that let's you instantly snap Fink towards the cursor when editing a dungeon.
Builder palette no longer automatically collapses after a certain time.
Added some little animations when placing objects or tiles.

New week, new undead news for you! :hearts:

We hope you're having a great time with our Community Dungeons project! We released two quite big and somewhat difficult dungeons so far and a third one just dropped! This time, you're countering the foggy fowls in the forest. It's a shorter dungeon, so if you don't have time for the epic journeys the first two dungeons provided, you're probably going to love this! Take a look!

It is available for all of you, on PC and Switch, right now. It's the community's take on the Forest Theme (Dungeon ID: 3549965 ) 🌲and It takes roughly half an hour to complete, a fantastic adventure! The creators of this dungeon are listed in the dungeons description and if you played the dungeon, leave them a nice message on our Discord (link below) for all to see! ♥️

We introduce: Reveton - The chicken skeleton!

A new enemy has been spotted in the depths of the new Lava Theme, just at the right time for our next big update. It's a scary looking fellow and he CAN'T BE DEFEATED!! WATCH OUT!

Don't get distracted by it's cute hops, these skeletons can be a menace. Fink and the Knight have encountered them already and they try to come up with a plan to stop the Reveton from coming back from the dead, once and for all. Maybe you'll find a way...

The Knight🛡️!

For all who missed the fabolous interview, here it is again, lead by a member of the Budgie Brigade 🦜 asking the important questions.

🦜: "Hello armored stranger! How did you end up here?" 🛡️: "...I was once employed by a dark overlord... who made us fight a person clad in green..." 🦜: "YOU'RE EVIL?!" 🛡️: "... shakes his head NO! I fled the land because everyone kept attacking feathered beings too when they could not fight back..." 🦜: "So you're one of us...!" 🛡️: "... I don't want to disclose this yet... You have to earn my trust first...!" 🦜: "Well then, you're an experienced fighter, I assume?" 🛡️: "...I wouldn't exactly put it this way - but I copied the moves of this rooster with the magnificent comb!"

We look forward to the next chapter with our brave, mysterious knight leading the charge!

Patch Details

What's new?

Added a new playable character skin

The knight stands in front of their house at the southern end of the village - Go there and interact with them to choose them as your character skin. If you want to swap back, Fink stands in front of the Egg Storage.

Changes

Improved the look of the border when seeing the floor below through holes in the floor

Added a sign between Hen'&Fam and Eggspedia that shows players the direction to their downloaded dungeons.

Added the Golden Egg as an object to the Item category in the builder UI

Lost your Golden Egg or simply want to place it on a different floor - not a problem anymore
You can even create a dungeon with multiple endings now

Bug-Fixes

Forkplants would sometimes stop their throw when backing up against a wall

Undo could break when trying to move an object to a place where it can't be placed

Spinattack would hit enemies/objects multiple times

Bombs could not be picked up immediately after dropping them when facing north

Crystal Switch could not be hit reliably with the hookshot from the south

Also, don't forget to check out the fantastic Community Dungeons the Discord Community came up with, they are huge fun and would be a great challenge for the new Knight!

The second Community Dungeon is available for all of you, on PC and Switch, right now. It's the community's take on the Castle Theme (Dungeon ID: 3483400 ) 🏰. Just like the other fantastic Community Dungeon, this also takes roughly an hour to complete, a grand journey! The creators of this dungeon are listed in the dungeons description and if you played the dungeon, leave them a nice message in our Discord (link below) for all to see! ♥️

I asked for some help last week and we got some more eyes on the Community Dungeon Event, which is coming to a close, but two dungeons still to go. So if you want to help out and conquer the creation of a floor on the forest or mystic garden theme, message roka_lis on Discord! 📞

Last week you got to see a sneak peak at the new red slime enemy, this week the devs can show some SCARY GHOSTS... there is no escape, not even walls can stop them! MWAHAHA! (Don't) look behind you! 👻

We have some great news to share with you!

First of all, our Community Dungeon Event has been exciting so far and we've completed two dungeons together. The first one is available for all of you, on PC and Switch, right now: It's the community's take on the Ice Theme (Dungeon ID: 3483398 ) . So grab yourself a cup of tea and some cookies and head into the icy depth's as soon as you get to it! It takes roughly an hour to complete, an epic journey! Also, the team behind the dungeon, all listed in the dungeons description of course, would love to see you complete it. So if you have a playthrough to share, we'd love to see you share your experience with it on our Discord in the 🔨sdm-discussions channel!

While we're at it, the Community Dungeon Event is coming to a close, but two themes still need to be completed. So if you want to help out and conquer the creation of a floor on the forest or mystic garden theme, message roka_Lis on Discord!

As the knight is getting ready for a grand entrance, the dev team is also working hard on bringing other new things to the game. Take a sneak peek at a more fearsome NEW red slime enemy.

Imagine putting several into a single room, easy to attack from the front, but hard to fight when you're surrounded! We can't wait to see the battles you create with him and the other new... oh well. Also we are working on several more bugfixes and updates for the game. The legendary knight is almost done, sounds are being finished as we speak and I can finally deny a long standing rumor: The knight can't float across pits, see for yourself!

Well, ok. That rumor wasn't true, but his death animation is and it's cute! ♥️

Added two new dungeon themes each with one unique floor tile

Added the "Hall of Fame" to the village hub
You can play six dungeons created by our most dedicated Kickstarter supporters here
Replaced the fill bucket tool with a rectangle tool for tile mode
We added a button that let's you instantly snap Fink towards the cursor when editing a dungeon.

What's changed?

Traps will now trigger hit and barrier switches. Use your creativity now to build some automated contraptions.
Reworked the Undo-System to be more stable and not result in broken rooms/objects all the time.
Builder palette no longer automatically collapses after a certain time.
Added automatic camera movement, when dragging an object towards the screens edge when using a gamepad.
Improved Stair transition to make it less likely for players to accidentally walk back into stairs.
Added some little animations when placing objects or tiles.
Fixed an issue where users couldn't play online dungeons.

Bug-Fixes

Sign in front of Fink's secret cave displayed a placeholder text.
One of the birds had a placeholder text in it's speech bubble.
Player Dungeons could not be correctly deleted.
Player Dungeons would show up multiple times.
Online Dungeons would sometimes load an empty dungeon.
Room outlines would sometimes break.
Massively improved the performance for dungeons with many rooms.
In some cases restarting the dungeon would instead load a completely empty dungeon.
Golden Egg is now visible on the map again.
Collecting the flipper item multiple times would add it to the UI multiple times.
Description text in the online dungeon report form could overflow the input field.
Speechbubbles would stay active when switching to build mode.
Game would crash when trying to show the tooltip of one of the floors in the mystic garden theme.

We are thrilled to announce the winner of our character voting. Just to remind you, we had five incredible candidates:

E - Knight 🛡️! Our brave, still nameless knight has won the hearts of our community and earned his place in Super Dungeon Maker.

Without further ado, here is our conversation with the courageous knight, with member of the Budgie Brigade 🦜 asking the questions.

🦜: "Hello armored stranger! How did you end up here?"
🛡️: "...I was once employed by a dark overlord... who made us fight a person clad in green..."

🦜: "YOU'RE EVIL?!"
🛡️: "... shakes his head NO! I fled the land because everyone kept attacking feathered beings too when they could not fight back..."

🦜: "So you're one of us...!"
🛡️: "... I don't want to disclose this yet... You have to earn my trust first...!"

🦜: "Well then, you're an experienced fighter, I assume?"
🛡️: "...I wouldn't exactly put it this way - but I copied the moves of this rooster with the magnificent comb!"
