New Mission - The Elite Society
Behind rusted gates and overgrown grounds, a crumbling old residence has stood quiet for years, or so the neighborhood believed. The once-grand estate has been serving as the meeting place of a self-styled "elite society": a circle of privileged individuals convinced that wealth and connections place them above the law. Soon, a large-scale police investigation reveals that this group's gatherings serve as little more than a cover-up for their benefactors' crossing from private indulgence into serious criminal activity.
Tonight, their exclusive club receives its least welcome guests yet. Membership has its privileges, but immunity from a SWAT intervention isn't one of them. Expect individuals who believe consequences are for other people, protected by those paid handsomely to keep it that way.
The decaying mansion offers as many hazards as it does hiding places: [grand halls and salons stripped by time, a maze of upper-floor rooms, narrow service corridors, cellars, and the estate's overgrown exterior grounds. Failing lighting, blind corners, and the sheer scale of the property are bound to give the mission conditions an extra edge, so be sure to exercise extraordinary caution. [/p]

With the goal of further improving the aesthetic side of SWAT Commander, a part of our ongoing efforts in Early Access development has been directed to the ragdoll behaviors and today's update delivers the result of those efforts - with new death animations played when Suspects and Civilians are delivered lethal force and adjustments to ragdoll behaviors, these changes should help position the bodies of these individuals before their following restraint in more realistic ways.

Fixed an issue preventing the Iron Wall achievement from unlocking correctly.
Revamped the requirements for unlocking the Ballistics Expert achievement, which could previously not be earned due to its emergent incompatibility with grenade mechanics.

The current version of our game is now 0.7.9.4, and the update allows you to customize the balance of primary and secondary magazines your squad brings on your missions.
Many of you have been reporting the issue of running out of ammo in the game's bigger missions, and since it's also a matter that's been heatedly called to attention in recent discussions, we're addressing it with the following solution - from now on you can determine the ratio of primary and secondary weapon ammo magazines your operatives will be bringing with them on a mission.
We see this is as a balanced compromise between the overpowered step of just adding more magazines and maintaining the status quo - you get to choose to have more magazines for either of the weapons you prefer to rely on, thus increasing the amount of ammunition at your disposal.
INSTRUCTIONS 👇
In order to access the feature, go into the Customization tab of either your selected primary or secondary weapon by clicking the gear symbol to their left. You'll see the magazine ratio setting in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Tell me, would you describe yourselves as risk-takers? Because soon, big risks you may just have to take. That is, once your SWAT squad is summoned to deploy to a certain seedy gambling den.
In "Highest Stakes," one of SWAT Commander's upcoming missions, you'll be required to carry out a raid at a shady gambling den. The discovery of such a highly illegal enterprise already warrants police intervention, but what makes this situation even juicier is that the big boss of the ring, together with his right-hand man, are scheduled to make a personal appearance on site, possibly to admire their latest "handiwork."

According to ongoing investigation, all the extortion, money laundering, harassment, and intimidation tactics these bastards are alleged to be involved in makes their arrest the biggest winnings that the forces of justice can earn that evening. Be the ones to bring them in and make them know they've pushed their luck for long enough. Just don't underestimate these people - they've been dealing with danger for a good while now and while they may be vulnerable under those circumstances, they're never alone and they're never helpless.

And that's not all! Work on SWAT Commander in Early Access continues, we're devising more features and fixes to introduce to the game (a lot of the ideas owing to your feedback, as usual). Our future updates will involve:
A campaign system with unlockable rewards
Trackable statistics of your gameplay performance in that campaign's save slot
New non-lethal equipment
More full-scale missions
More missions based on smaller-scale maps (often requested by players)
Improved death animations
More voice lines required to fully suit our remaining SWAT officer characters for co-op
Further fixes and enhancements of all sorts

For better accessibility and quality of following what's exactly going on during the missions, all lines spoken by in-game characters will now be subtitled in every language supported by our project.
This feature has an additional gameplay layer to it aside from making SWAT Commander's localization more complete. Very often, knowing what a character is saying is the factor on which the end result of an entire situation rests - knowing that an individual is no longer hostile, hearing the callout of your fellow officer in co-op, and so on.

A den of ill repute by any measure, the downtown nightclub known as "The Blue Holster" has crossed the tenuous line that finally rendered it into a full-blown crime scene.
Rampant, violent drug trade is by all means unacceptable to law enforcement, so a serious incident taking place this fateful evening and involving the dubious establishment along with a local criminal underground demands for a SWAT intervention.
A two-storey dance floor area, balconies, facilities private rooms, as well as a number of storage and utility rooms will provide more than a sufficient challenge for the SWAT squad and their objective to bring in notorious drug dealers. Loud music, huge crowd, and colorful illumination are bound to give the mission conditions an extra edge, so be sure to exercise extraordinary caution.

Today we're bringing another update in the course of SWAT Commander's Early Access development, and that makes the current version of the game 0.7.9.0.
Co-op Commands
Intended as a measure of convenience is the new co-op command feature. They're an alternative to using voice chat and potentially a more effective way of letting your squadmates know what you want to accomplish in the team's next steps. Basically, the same way it's done in singleplayer mode with AI-controlled SWAT officers under your command.
Chatter is often distracting. So what if you want your heavy support opperative to C2 a particular door and just telling them isn't the way to go for whatever reason? Well, you just mark it with the C2 command and presto — a persistent visual cue supports what you said in voice and if all goes well, the squad is rewarded with a well-earned 'kaboom'.

Item 1 — Now you can issue commands to your teammates in cooperative mode just like you do in singleplayer
Public Lobbies
Keeping up with the co-op theme, we've done some thorough testing on this feature recently, and we're proud to bring it to you now in our game's main version. From now, you're not restricted to Steam friends when it comes to running multiplayer lobbies for cooperative mode, but you can also just make your co-op session publicly available to all online players in your region.
This feature also comes with a number of lobby management tools, including but not limited to the lobby voice chat, setting a preferred mission and difficulty level, kicking players, blocking players, and inviting players.
Item 2 — The open lobby feature opens up more possibilities for connecting with other SWAT Commander players
AI Update
Last, but by far not least, we have enhancements to the AI of the game's characters. Check our patch notes below for closer details but, generally speaking, this is a feature no game can improve enough, so we hope you'll find these changes welcome. The approach here was to make AI behaviors of computer-controlled suspect and civilian characters both more realistic and more suitable to SWAT Commander gameplay than before.
SWAT Commander EA v.0.7.9.0 — Public Lobbies & AI Update Patch Notes:
NETWORK
Public lobbies are now available, allowing players to host sessions open to everyone via the lobby browser — not just friends.
Added command markers in co-op, making issued commands clearly visible through on-screen widgets for better team coordination.
Added voice chat support to lobbies, enabling communication directly from the menu.
Improved mission loading times.
Added Quick Restart for co-op and single-player missions, allowing missions to be restarted instantly without returning to the lobby.
Added Steam Overlay support for joining lobbies and sending invites.
CIVILIAN AI
Added the ability for civilians to take photos.
Added dancing behavior for civilians for a missions with the appropriate mission and environmental contexts, adding more life to certain locations.
Improved civilian complaining behavior.
Improved civilian fear reactions and responses to danger.
Fixed glitches in civilian fear reactions.
Fixed issues with civilians fleeing from dangerous situations.
SUSPECT AI
Improved suspect combat reasoning and decision-making.
Suspects can now choose additional actions during combat.
Improved suspect cover usage.
Improved suspect hostage handling.
Fixed suspect movement issues.
Fixed issues where suspects would stand up and re-engage in combat after losing line of sight while not restrained.
Fixed multiple issues related to suspect cover logic.
GENERAL AI
Fixed surrender behavior occurring too close to doorways for both suspects and civilians, improving positioning and safety during arrests.
GAMEPLAY
Reduced the chance of getting hit in the legs on Easy and Normal difficulties to improve gameplay flow.
UI
Improved the equipment screen: AI officers and co-op teammates are now displayed in separate sections.
Added notifications for network or host issues, along with additional in-game tips.
Improved HUD tooltips: they now auto-hide and can be shown again at any time.
Fixed issues with player name display in co-op games.

SWAT Commander receives a new regular update, bringing its current version to 0.7.8.4. The update comes with a discount, giving you the temporary chance to snag our game for a bargain!

New Window Command
This time, in an effort to reinforce our officers' tactical repertoire, we're introducing a new command that should make building entries easier by allowing you to issue a command to throw grenades through first-floor windows. This is configured for all of our current and future missions.
Remember to adjust your choice of grenade to how quickly you can make an entry and that tossing grenades through windows outside of commands is a viable approach in co-op and for yourself as the squad commander in single player, too.
Our other changes in this patch tweak gameplay to make some tool use faster, give you the option to switch firing modes on handguns while using the Ballistic Shield, and let you adjust sights in headcam mode.

Added a new command allowing officers to throw grenades through first-floor windows during assault operations.
GAMEPLAY
Reduced lock-picking time for player's multitool by 50%.
Updated the door ramming system: while hit location still matters, striking the door near the lock area with a battering ram now breaks doors much faster.
EQUIPMENT
Added the ability to switch pistol firing modes while using a shield, for pistols that support multiple firing modes.
UI
Added new virtual sight settings for Headcam mode, allowing the interaction sight and shooting sight to be toggled independently.

Another update makes its way to SWAT Commander, making version 0.7.8.3 its latest build!
Weapon Handling Update
What's new in the game this time? We're doing what we can to enhance your experience with SWAT Commander on various levels and now we've taken the core functioning of weapons in our sights. This means a, now available, modification of various mechanics that govern the firing and handling of guns.
A detailed list is available in the patch notes below, but to make a long report short, here's the rundown of what we've modified:
Canted Sight
In many circumstances, a greater versatility to aiming with your guns is very welcome, particularly when your weapon utilizes long-range sights that obstruct your view. A quick switch to an alternative form of aiming may just save your officer's life under this drawback while allowing him to maintain a focused ADS mode. We've introduced this mode of aiming to SWAT Commander in the form of canted sight for rifles and handguns. Use the related hotkey to switch your aim to a view on canted sight.
Try it out and remember to check the keybind for it in your settings.

Recoil Revamp
This one is rather self-explanatory. Enough said, we've adjusted the parameters of weapon recoil extensively with the goal of offering greater variety and realism in weapon behavior. As you may expect, this is going to be most tangible when using auto fire. Practice and adapt to make the best use of your weapons.

Bullet Ballistics
Thanks to a new bullet flight system based on muzzle raycast instead of view raycast, SWAT Commander wll become more closely engaged in realistic ballistics — the bullets will come flying out of the muzzle of your selected weapon, which will allow you to work with your positioning more instinctively as well as improve the general immersion of all gunfights.
Have a look at some comparisons of how bullet ballistics worked before vs. how they work now:

Fixed an issue where suspects could hit the player before fully raising and aiming their weapon.
EQUIPMENT
Added canted sight view for primary and secondary weapons (toggle with the M key).
Added new high fire rate gun to the suspect weapon pool; it may now appear in the Hot Reception, Window Shopping, and Man’s Best Friend missions.
GAMEPLAY
Updated bullet ballistics so shots now originate from the weapon’s muzzle instead of the camera view, improving shot consistency.
Improved recoil calculation and bullet dispersion for more accurate shooting behavior.
Updated recoil parameters for all weapons.
Reduced shotgun buckshot spread.
ANIMATIONS
Updated idle animations for pistols.
Updated lowered weapon positions for all weapons.
Updated suspect animation of reaction to the darkness.

It is our strong belief that SWAT Commander deserves a shot (pun, as always, fully intended) in the "Better With Friends" category of the 2025 Steam Awards, and so, we humbly request that you offer your nomination to our project!
Much like our game wouldn't advance without your continued support, so would a SWAT intervention not go well without the support of your trusted officers. A reason why we've always wanted co-op to be an integral part of SWAT Commander.
On to the next part of our dispatch — another mini tutorial lands on your desks. This time the material is covering some facts about our previous update — curated intel about Customization.
As you may recall, our previous feature update introduced the ability for our commanders to deploy on customized missions by accessing the relevantly named 'CUSTOM GAME' screen from the main menu's 'SELECT MISSION' option. There, you can modify several properties of your mission's playthrough for a more personalized experience.
It is our hope and intention to make mission customization somewhat clearer with this short post — to answer some questions and clear certain doubts we've been encountering.
Customization — Some Vital Details
The first piece of information we'd like to drop here is clarification. One that relates to how mission customization works fundamentally.
In the first tab of the mission customization screen, '1—Missions', you decide which mission in which available game mode you will be modifying for your playthrough. That much is clear. But what needs to be said is that there are certain elements to the mission that will always have to remain unchanged — items or characters needed for its objectives to still work the way they do. For example, you'll always need the Hanson brothers present for the 'Silence of the Hansons' mission.
We'll add the appropriate notices about this to the Custom Game menu's UI with an upcoming update.

As you proceed to the second tab, '2—Characters', you'll see sliders responsible for setting your chosen total count for additional characters as well as the ratio of suspects to civilians in the custom game.
The 'Theme' section, in turn, lets you determine which mission those additional characters will be coming from, while in the 'Suspects Archetypes' section, you finally make the choice of those characters and their numbers.
An important detail to pay attention to here is that you decide on the total character count and civilian-suspect ratio BEFORE choosing the suspect archetypes, as changes there will have to reset your opponent selections.

Finally, you arrive at '3—Mission Settings', arguably the most diversified settings tab:
The 'Mission Settings' section of the same name offers the same options you would find in standard missions, so it's useful to note that they are here too.
'Environment' lets you change the time of day, locked doors, and barricaded doors among a few other factors.
'Behavior' determines which of the characters' responses to various situations will be available in the mission.
'Morale', which defines the stat responsible for the characters' willingness to surrender.
'Health', which defines the stat responsible for how much damage characters can take before they're incapacitated or killed.
Note the 'GO TO BRIEFING' button always present at the top, which will allow you to launch your configured custom game. You don't have to leave this screen to do that!

Upcoming Weapons Update
Moving on, work on SWAT Commander continues, all owing to your support for our project in Early Access. Our next update will address several core mechanics of the game's weapons and how they work exactly.
One part of the update is going to be an adjustment to the dynamics between firing guns and how bullets leave the barrel, and that should deliver an improvement to various contexts, such as when using laser sights!
