It's been a while since there was a Toast Defense update so I wanted to make this one a good one! A lot of people have been asking for more content and some changes to the content available and so I figured I would change it all at once.
The UI has always felt clunky to use in Toast Defense so I have updated how it works, I removed the shop and put in an info tab in its place, and to place towers you now just have to click the tower in the build menu instead of clicking on the shop, closing it, selecting the tower, etc. I have also improved the path creation system, you can now click one button to clear your path entirely instead of backtracking through 30 path tiles to change it. I have also implemented a preset path system! Members of the community have submitted paths to be featured in the game! You can select one of those paths or make and save your own for future use! All it takes is the click of 2 buttons and the path is laid out for you.
Honey and Hot Sauce has become very popular in the game after the last update making them stronger, but it always felt weird having them work differently than everything else in the game, so I turned them into towers! The Honey and Hot Sauce towers are hopefully not quite as powerful as they recently were but are hopefully way more powerful than they were when the game was first released, let me know if they need tweaking.
I have also added long-awaited tower upgrades! It's not quite as impressive as some other Tower Defense games but I think it'll add a little more depth to strategy at least, and as always it and everything else is up in the air for improvement. I have also given each of the towers an updated look! After releasing two games my artistic skills have improved a little bit and the towers always felt a little out of place so those have been updated! Some people have also complained about the difficulty in the game, so I added a way to change your difficulty before you play the game.
That's the update! Hopefully, you guys enjoy it, I know it took a while to come out but hopefully it was worth it. Also, don't forget to check out the new Toast Defense DLC that just dropped if you want even more Toast Defense content!
Changes:
- Removed the shop, now buy towers by clicking on the build menu to the right
- Added info panel in place of the shop, click it and it describes basic things like what the towers do and how many ducks are in a wave
- Added a Clear Path button when building a path that will clear every tile you placed
- Added a preset menu with presets from the community for you to choose from, and a slot for your preset path
- Added a save path button where you can save the path that you just placed so next time you want to use that path you don't have to remake the entire path
- Added a tower upgrade button in the build menu, upgrading a tower will increase its attack speed by a large amount, the only exception to this is the sniper tower, upgrading the sniper tower gives it infinite range
- Removed Hot Sauce and Honey Tiles from the game
- Added Hot Sauce and Honey Towers to the game, single-shot towers that shoot the first non-affected duck in their range
- Updated every tower's look, also each tower has a slightly different appearance if it's upgraded
- Updated the Tutorial text to match the updated features
- Added Difficulty setting when selecting "Play" or "Endless Mode" from the main menu
