Maybe somewhere in that dark little house, there's room for a little growth...
It's time to SHUT UP. The final major content update for SHUT IN is here, bringing you the most definitive, depressing, disappointing version of everyone's least favorite comedy / horror game, with a whole bunch of new features to discover... If you're willing to work for them.
Patch Notes:

New area: Attic
A whole new floor, with a host of items and secrets requiring patience, hard work, and... actually this is all sounding like a lot of effort. You probably can't be bothered filling this empty place with decorations. You definitely can't be bothered keeping that plant alive. And whatever's behind that boarded up doorway can probably wait until tomorrow. Right?
New items
There's an awful lot of junk up there. Some of it seems useful. Some of it just looks nice. But at least that's better than nothing. And that main room is looking so empty and depressing, you're going to need some serious redecorating to make it worthwhile.
New ending
It's not much, but it's something. This place is a nightmare, but it's still your home. Maybe if you felt more comfortable, things wouldn't be so bad. But maybe that's just wishful thinking.
New features
Decorations are all well and good, but that's not the only way to improve your quality of life. With new visual inventory and save point systems designed to streamline the experience, your trip around this horrible place should hopefully feel a little less... well, horrible.
And even more deaths
No good deed goes unpunished.
Gameplay changes
✔ New visual inventory system. ✔ Added the ability to manually save by setting an alarm. ✔ Some changes to item / decoration locations within rooms. ✔ Various minor visual tweaks.
'Gameplay' changes?
✔ Good luck finding that Rocket Launcher
Bug Fixes
✔ Fixed a bug which caused the Fuse to appear in the inventory when dying in the basement. ✔ Fixed a bug which caused the Scribbled Note to not enter the inventory after picking it up. ✔ Fixed a bug which caused a blank text box to display when 'using' unequipped items. ✔ Fixed a bug which caused noises from the Secret Hallway to play after exiting the room. ✔ Fixed a bug which allowed players to use items on objects after dying and respawning. ✔ Fixed a bug which could cause players to be trapped in the Basement steam room. ✔ Fixed a bug which caused playtime to incorrectly display on monitors with high refresh rates. ✔ Fixed certain instances of overlapping text boxes. ✔ Fixed an issue which caused certain basement steam valve deaths to not trigger. ✔ Fixed occasional missing footstep sound effects in certain rooms. ✔ Minor text / formatting changes. ✔ Wondered how all of these bugs went by unnoticed the first time. ✔ Felt like a bit of an idiot.
Almost a year after its first release, this final major update brings the ongoing development of SHUT IN to a close, and I want to give a huge huge thank you to anyone who's played my sad, odd, surprisingly relatable game. With 26 items, 20 deaths, (over) 18 rooms, and 4 endings, what started as a small personal project has become something more complete and complex than I had ever imagined. I am more than happy to call the game finished, and am looking forwards to working on new projects in the immediate future.

The next major content update is coming soon, featuring more new rooms, items, and features designed to make your stay inside feel a little more... organic. There are lots of things to do in your newly expanded home, and it's about time you thought about something other than yourself for a change, don't you?

New area: Attic
Head upstairs, and SHUT UP. There's an awful lot of stuff up here, and it will take forever to get through it all. It's going to take some serious patience to find all the secrets this place has to offer, and yet, for all this clutter, you swear you're missing some things.
New ending
Hopefully you'll be rewarded for your efforts. Somehow. There can't be any way out of your house up there, so what benefit could all that trouble really be for? You probably shouldn't bother. You should probably just SHUT UP.
New items
Did I mention the clutter? You really need to clean up in here. This is honestly embarrassing. There must be stuff all over the house. Isn't there somewhere to put it all? You should really SHUT UP and get to work.
New features
It's not much, but I guess it's home. You may as well make it a little nicer in here, whilst you're trapped inside. Not that it can be much of an improvement.
Work is under way on the new update, and there's a lot of stuff planned, so no exact release date yet - but the 1.2 Update should be available somewhere around Autumn 2021.

SHUTDOWN, our first major content update, is finally LIVE! After a lot of hard work, I can proudly announce (regrettably warn against) a grim variety of brand new content, that even the most die hard SHUT IN fans might find... a little bleak.
Don't say you weren't warned.
Patch Notes:

New area: Basement
Three new rooms await down in the depths of the house. But that's about as far from your front door as you can get. Resist temptation, or let your curiosity get the better of you, and plunge down into the depths of... wait, what even is this place?
New items
But to get there, you'll need a little electrical assistance. A new item is in the house that can grant you access to the basement, which hides an even more elusive treasure within.
New ending
Keep going far enough, and you might find a way out. Although, it might not be what you were expecting. Or maybe it was what you were looking for all along.
And, of course, new deaths
There are always new threats lurking in the safety and comfort of your own home. Four new unique ways to die horribly and feel terribly about yourself await down there. To be honest, you probably shouldn't bother...
Gameplay changes
✔ Allowed entry into the secret hallway before picking up the Knife. ✔ Added a clue to help enter the secret hallway. ✔ Added some extra (useless) item interactions.
Bug Fixes
✔ Fixed an issue which occasionally displayed the incorrect playtime on game completion… again. ✔ Fixed an issue which very rarely caused the first letter of highlighted words to not appear. ✔ Fixed an issue which occasionally caused highlighted text to not appear. ✔ Correctly aligned item images with Item Box, except for the Plunger apparently. ✔ Items can now be used immediately on appropriate doors after respawning. ✔ Deleted some stray unused files to reduce space.

Exciting news for all of you sad sad SHUT IN fans out there, a new major content update is coming soon! Response to SHUT IN has been great thus far, and to celebrate its modest success, you deserve a little something for your trouble. Planned features include:

New area: Basement
There's something lurking, deeper and darker in the depths of the house. But it's probably nothing to worry about. Ignore the strange noises coming from below, or ignore your better judgement and investigate what lies beneath. Face new dangers, solve new puzzles, and wonder just how bad things can really get...
New ending?
But that's just the basement. There can't be a way out down there. That's about as far from fresh air as you can get. You can't just keep spiraling downwards for nothing... right?
New items
New tools and toys to help (or hinder) your progress as you make your way through the house. Sacrifice your keys to self-improvement and succumb to the morbid curiosity which drives you down, down, down.
No exact release date yet, but we're hoping to be up-and-running by the start of Summer 2021. More updates to come soon!
Also wanted to say a huge thanks for all the continued support from everyone who's played and supported the game since release. It's been one hell of a year, and I never thought this depressing little game would ever come as far as it has. It couldn't have happened without you all, and I'm honored to have made something which people (hopefully) seem to like!
