Hello, everyone.
You may have noticed that there has been a difference in the game logo. We've had some changes in the game beyond that.
The series logo changed because I saw the need to adapt the same visual identity to all games from now on, and this way things can be more unified.
In the game, there was a difference in the icon besides the title screen.
But the most important change was the character Caos' sprites. I updated them to a version identical to his iteration in Order from Caos 2.
I hope you like the visual changes.
Until next time.

In June, Order from Caos will celebrate its 4th year of publication. Since then, I've published one game per year: Hidden Shelter (2021), Backroom Beyond (2022), and Order from Caos 2 (2023). Order from Caos was the greatest school I could have had to learn game logic, programming, and now I'm focusing more on the Unreal Engine. I still have a lot of affection for RPG Maker MV, but I believe I need to broaden the scope of my games. There's something good coming. However, let's talk about now. I wrote a post on the Order from Caos 2 page discussing side quests that I think are important for players to experience. Taking advantage of the opportunity, I decided to do the same with Order from Caos. See if you agree with the choices.
1 - Byakko

This was the most difficult side quest to create. It has many variables and two different endings. It's a story about love and possession at first sight, but in the end, it's about revenge and protection. It's the side quest with the most emotional appeal in the game. It was painful to write because I had to think about the entire lore for it, and it was challenging to program.
2 - 30X Woods

This, for obvious reasons, may not be a very popular side quest. It asks the player to find 30 pieces of wood obtained by killing a certain type of monster that is in agony. These woods are found in the creature's stomach. The problem with this side quest is that it's a quest to collect a certain number of things and take them to an NPC. In Order from Caos 2, I focused on improving side quests to avoid this. But then you might ask - If you don't like this side quest, why did you include it here? I think it's because I want to remember what never to do.
3 - Fallen from Space

This is a side quest that few people have been able to complete. It's really difficult. In the final part of the game, we can enable this side quest. It's necessary to go to the desert and find a hole in the ground caused by a meteor that brought a creature from another world. I chose this side quest to finish this post because when I created it, it would be a link between Order from Caos and a possible sequel to the story. In fact, there's a fully written text with the story from beginning to end. But, I don't know when it will be possible to turn it into a game. My intention is to produce the next RPGs in 2.5D using the Unreal Engine. So, I know it will take a while to achieve, but who knows if the future will be kind enough to allow me that sequel? Without giving too many spoilers, only Tina and Joh would initially remain in the main group. There would be new characters and something falling from the sky...
Well, that's it. I hope you enjoyed it. Order from Caos is a story that moved me a lot while writing, and I hope it was an exciting experience for those who played it. And for those who haven't played it yet... feel free to play and have fun.
Until next time.

Hello, everyone. This is Renan, the game developer of Order from Caos 2.
I'm exhausted but very happy. The game is complete, and now I'm working on translations for other languages. It took years to produce this game, and I hope all of you, my friends who enjoy turn-based RPGs, can have fun with Order from Caos 2.
For those who already know, you'll be aware that the game has no relation to the first one. So, you can play without fear. Everyone will start without knowing anything.
I'll be honest here, making games is exhausting, but it's so rewarding. While playing the game to test some bugs, I got emotional because I felt like the characters were alive. It was as if they were my actual companions. I wrote the story in 2006, started turning it into a game in 2020, and I'm only publishing it now. It's a joy and a relief to be able to share this story with you.
My only wish is that we can exchange ideas about the game and the characters that inhabit this world.
In the original Order from Caos, some talked about how satisfying it was to defeat nihilists. In Order from Caos 2, the fight is against domination, against those who control. It can be control over regions, people, or the future.
Anyway, I wrote this because I wanted to proudly share with you that Order from Caos 2 is officially ready and will be officially launched at Brasil Game Show, the largest game event in Latin America, for an audience of over 300,000 people.
We've had over 16,000 downloads of the demo. I can't wait to chat with you when the game is out.
Buy the game here on Steam. See you in the next update.
See you in the next update.
Until next time.

Hi, everyone.
This is Renan, gamedev from White Vortex.
Today is a special day for me as it marks the 3rd anniversary of the release of Order from Caos, my first game. It holds a special place in my heart for that reason. I want to express my immense gratitude for all the feedback and discussions about the game, as they have helped me grow as a professional and have made the game a better experience. They have also greatly contributed to the creation of Order from Caos 2, which will be released on October 11th.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your support, and I hope we have many more years to celebrate together.
We are all fans of RPGs.

Backroom Beyond is a first-person game that mixes puzzles with single-player adventure in a dark, harrowing environment that makes the player question the protagonist's sanity. Based on the internet myth, Backroom Beyond goes further and makes the player wonder if that journey is about something more personal than anything else.
The narrative has two main points. Drawings tell part of the game's story on the walls. The drawings have no defined authorship, which gives them an extra degree of strangeness. The second point is the existence of The Guide, a being that instigates the players to think about their actions in real life.
The game basically has one objective throughout its 40-level journey: place the red box over the red button and open the door to the next level. It seems simple at first, but it's not. Each environment has its own logic. If the players feel frustrated because something went wrong in their strategy, they can press the “wake up again" button, which will return them to the beginning of the level.
Each scenario has a part of the story to be told, whether in the subway, in the snow, in the house, or in an actual backroom. Each place has its dose of tension and wonder.
The theme song chosen is Pérolas Irregulares (Irregular Pearls) by the band Terceiro Mundo Bom (Third Good World), whose clip has many similarities with the game's project.
“I created this game because I could bring my contribution to the world of backrooms, which I was fascinated by. This myth has everything to do with the stories I tell about the existence of realities and universes that coexist and can collide. The story I set out to tell in Backroom Beyond is fragmented in a way that the player will need to interpret many of the elements. After all, who is The Guide? Who wrote on the walls? Has anyone been there before? Is it possible to leave?”, says Renan Barreto, creator of the game. “And being able to put in the game the song Pérolas Irregulares played by the band Terceiro Mundo Bom, which I'm a fan of is incredible. I could not be happier. The song and the video match very well with the proposal of the story and I would say that both complement each other”.
Backroom Beyond will be available on Steam on July 8th for Windows PC.

Order from Caos 2 is a pixel art turn-based RPG created and developed by Renan Barreto from the White Vortex studio, and tells the story of Thomas, a man who lost his family, murdered by a mysterious and cruel Knight of the Bratania Empire, known by the name of Asmodeus. Thomas embarks on a journey of revenge, vowing to destroy his most merciless enemy. However, there is one detail that could change everything, his family might’ve simply never existed at all. Haunted by both possible realities, Thomas needs to figure out what is behind all this tragedy to define his future that intertwines with the future of all humanity, even if it is about him going to Hell.
The journey of Order from Caos 2 is unique and has more than 20 hours of gameplay, dozens of sidequests, items, special moves, and many puzzles to solve. Enemies walk across the maps and there are no random encounters. The players will walk through forests, cities, beaches, islands, temples, secret dungeons, hidden cities and will fight powerful creatures. The players will have a lot to do in the game if they don’t want to just follow the main story.
Order from Caos 2 has no connection to the events or characters shown in the first game in the series and will be released soon on Steam for Windows PC. The demo is already live here on Steam.
"It's great to be able to deliver another RPG, a genre that I'm passionate about. I want to show all my appreciation to all of you who have supported me in this journey", says Renan, creator of Order from Caos 2.

Hi everyone.
I know I've been absent here from Order from Caos community page, but it's because I'm working on Hidden Shelter and on another RPG project at the moment.
But, as I cannot be unaware of the feedbacks, I made some changes according to what I heard from you.
Joh can use the double attack move even though he has no sword equipped. It's fine to use the wrench;
The first meeting with Magdalene does not repeat itself anymore;
Forest south of the Prometheus mountain can no longer be accessed ahead of time, avoiding the bug that makes it impossible to catch the Prometheus summon;
It is now possible to get the Summon Prometheus;
Slight modification of Poison magic;
Hyper Attack costs 50TP;
Small change in Nilrem's magic (first encounter);
Player cannot proceed without getting into the car in Lorenzo;
Magdalene event crashing the game when it reaches the water fixed;
Some bugs fixed
Minor updates
I know I need to improve the English translation. I promise that I will do my best to correct whatever is necessary.
Hidden Shelter is out now. So enjoy the game and meet the cast of characters that will have their lives changed forever.

However, we are also starting to work on our new RPG. We love role-playing games and especially the turn-based ones. Meanwhile, we don´t say much about this new project, I decided to make a simple short film with simple sprites and a 3D background. What do you think of this aesthetics? Do you prefer everything in 2D?
I hope you like it and, please, the sprites were made super fast to be part of the project. The new game sprites are very professional. :)
See you soon!

Hi guys.
I hope you're having fun with Order from Caos. Some saw that I changed the logo. As I registered the brand, then, I needed to do something more unique. I hope you like it after all. The logo in the game will be updated in a later version.
Making a game is a very tiring task, but being able to meet new friends and see the work done makes every effort worthwhile. And I thank everyone for their criticism and praise. I learned a lot from each one of you.
Well, I would like to say a few more things.
1 - I'm developing a new game, but it's not an RPG it's a Survival Horror. I am working hard to learn the Unreal Engine better and have made good progress. The teaser trailer and the steam page are on their way.I really want to share more info with you guys.
2 - I'm working on the concept of the new RPG. I want to be able to have something really good for you next year. I'm drawing everything by hand. I really hope you like it when you leave. I'm working on the turn-based battle system, but what do you think? What kind of battle system do you prefer?
3 - Regarding Order from Caos. I am aware of typos in English and in some cases some gross translation errors. I didn't correct them for lack of time and not for sloppiness. It was 2,000 hours making the game. I would not like to reduce the quality due to lack of affection towards it and with those who play it. I would like to count on the support of the community to improve these issues. Doing everything yourself is really difficult, but not impossible. For those who can help me in this endeavor, I will make sure to add you in the credits of the game.
Anyone who wants to help can send an email to: [email protected].
Thank you all for playing a game in which I deposited my soul!

I met Jonathan's work on the internet and it was love at first sight or… listened. His music is perfect for all the situations I had written for Order from Caos. He is extremely talented and is an essential part of the game for me. His music creates another layer over what I wrote and made. So, I talked briefly with him and I hope you enjoy our conversation.
JONATHAN SHAW: “A Tale of Water” is a free track from my “RPG Orchestral Essentials” music library, intended mainly as an introspective, reflective piece of ambient music. I suspect (or, well, hope) it will be largely used for peaceful and calm scenarios. The running water (or in the other version, swirling wind) is meditative – a relaxed element that flows throughout – and it is accompanied by intervallic chord pulsations that should hopefully stimulate serene thoughts. I often like to find ways to integrate my field recordings into music, and hopefully you will agree that the addition of the flowing water here was an effective example!
JONATHAN SHAW: Of course, there are similarities and differences, but fundamentally the role of music goes unchanged: to complement the film/videogame by stimulating relevant emotions or reflecting narrative actions.
It also largely depends on the director/developer and how they treat the music: do they want the music to go unheard – to merge with the film/videogame and become an ambient background? Or do they want it to be at the forefront – on par with, or exceeding the visuals – for dramatic, emotional effect that sticks with the viewer/player?
If you are writing for the concert hall, then obviously there is no other medium for the music to complement (usually!), in which case the music becomes the most important element.
As for composing itself, there is quite a substantial difference when writing for live performers in a concert hall, versus virtual instruments accompanying a screen.
If you know you will have live performers playing your music, then you must take care to ensure what you are writing is idiomatic (crucially, that it is playable – typical of that instrument). Whereas these limitations are heavily relaxed when working in a digital environment with virtual samples (I’m looking at you, chromatic harp and timpani!)
Further, something I’ve recently begun considering is the amount of available aural “space” when writing for live versus sampled. With writing for live performers in a concert hall, the amount of space is effectively infinite; you can combine any instrument together to create an infinite palette of colours, playing as loud as possible or as quiet as possible, and never worry about breaching the limit of that “space” (well, so long as you orchestrate it effectively!)
But in a digital environment – working with 1s and 0s – that “space” has a more tangible limit. You have to take extra care when considering, say, whether an instrument should double another (i.e. play the same melody) – will it muddy the mix? Take up too much room of a tight frequency band? Drown out another instrument competing for the same space? These considerations are augmented tenfold in a digital environment than when writing purely for the acoustic concert hall.
JONATHAN SHAW: Once upon a time, there was a young boy who dreamed of music … Okay, fairy tales aside, my first experiments in composition began in 2010, though it was not until 2012 when it started to take off.
I had a rather traditional upbringing – self-taught by studying Baroque and Classical music with J.S.Bach, Mozart and all the classic cohort – which, on looking back, gave me a solid foundation for melody and harmony through the study of counterpoint and the good old “rules” of composition.
Later, I expanded to more modern musics and decided to become more pluralist as a composer, with the influential works of Stravinsky, Holst, Vaughan-Williams, and several others, which gave me more grounding in orchestral music. And from there, on to contemporary classical composers such as Steve Reich, John Adams, and of course, video game composers, notably Nobuo Uematsu, Yoko Shimomura, Hiroki Morishita, Motoi Sakuraba, Keiichi Okabe, among others.
And so, in 2019 I started creating and releasing the video game music library – “RPG Orchestral Essentials” – to try my hand at creating some RPG orchestral music and to offer free MP3 downloads for developers to use in their games.
And recently, that has led to my first full video game scoring project that I’m quite proud of – an upcoming indie tactics game – so watch this space!
JONATHAN SHAW: How could I not play RPG games – I was born and raised with them!
My very first adventure was through playing the original “Golden Sun” games, which Motoi Sakuraba scored. As such, the “Golden Sun” soundtrack holds a very special place in my heart, being one of the first I had experienced, and I owe a lot to it (which is why I have been making some orchestral arrangements of it!)
But of course, there are so many other video game scores I absolutely adore (and wildly flail my arms to conduct when alone):
“Monster Hunter” has some exceptionally adventurous orchestral tracks and memorable themes in each iteration;
“Fire Emblem” has wonderfully successful fusions of orchestral and EDM elements, and it’s crossfading of battle tracks is genius;
“Octopath Traveler” satisfied my need for some nostalgic and rustic JRPG themes with a modern, orchestral aesthetic;
“NieR: Automata” blew me away with its use of sound design in meticulously produced tracks and multiple variations thereof which change dynamically to the players’ actions;
“Xenoblade Chronicles” knocks it out of the park with every theme delivering an ecstasy of emotions with an excellent combination of orchestral and band instruments;
JONATHAN SHAW: I am always open for commissions and collaborations, whether it be for video games, film, or even contemporary classical works. Feel free to check out my website for other examples and contact info: https://www.jshaw.co.uk/

If you like RPGs just like me, you should see this list. Very useful info here.
1 - It's a classic kind of RPG.
2 - It's a game made in RPG Maker MV, but it took me 1,700 hours of work to tell a very person story.
3 - It's a 100% original story. Are ready to get emotional?
4 - Discussion about our role in the planet evolution.
5 - The attacks and special hits are very well animated and are not RPG maker standard.
6 - There are more than 20 hours of story. Judging by the first players, you can complete everything in about 30 hours.
7 - There is a special Sidequest that you can lose along the way if you don't react in a moment of forgiveness. But, don't think that it's this kind of cliché "You forgive the man that did bad things to you". It's actually quite a long story.
8 - There are 50 Quests during the gameplay. In fact, I can say that there would be many more, however I did add them or else the development cycle would be longer and the game wouldn't launch.
9 - The music of Jonathan Shaw. He is a wonderful composer. An incredible talented artist.
10 - The game makes us wonder about love, friendship and, at the same time, there's a lot of action.
Bonus:
Playing games makes the time pass with more quality. :)
Enjoy.
