Unexpected Tasks is a spin-off of The Unexpected Quest focused on classic Time Management gameplay.

Clear obstacles.

And make sure everything gets done before time runs out.

We've got some great news for you and a new update for The Unexpected Quest.
Let's start with the first one. We're excited to announce that the game is now available on all platforms! The update will be released on Nintendo Switch on September 26th, and from September 27th it'll be available on the PlayStation Store for PS4 and PS5, as well as on the Microsoft Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. If you'd rather play from the comfort of your couch, it's time to embark on an adventure with the Dwarf Sailors!

The new update adds Japanese localization of the game. We've translated everything, including the Compendium. We've improved the gamepad controls and updated the tutorial to match the new controls. We also fixed some bugs and reduced the size of the game, but who cares about megabytes nowadays?

With the latest patch, our game has reached verified status for Steam Deck! We are very happy about this! We hope you will be interested in playing it in portable mode as well.
In addition, there were these fixes:

Some in-game text has been changed to match the way the game is played with the controller.
Removed vertical sync in the game and added a frame limit option instead.
Small changes to the Compendium, namely the wallpaper widget.

We’ve created an update for the new year that we hope you enjoy. Our focus has been on optimizing for devices with small screens, such as the Steam Deck and ASUS ROG.
The complete list of updates is as follows:

We have readied the game for Linux systems and are now conducting rigorous testing. Our aim is to release this version next year.
We have enhanced the gamepad control and plan to carry on improving and fixing it.
A new game icon will please the dwarves.
We have enlarged fonts in select sections to enhance readability on smaller screens.
Our team has updated the Steamworks SDK and integrated a virtual keyboard for devices without one.
Added a zoom feature so that you can see all the details of the ripe pumpkin. It can be used through the mouse wheel or gamepad triggers.
Fixed many bugs and added many new ones.
As always, we look forward to your feedback and suggestions! Especially if you are a happy owner of handheld consoles. Any feedback would be appreciated! In case we missed something or didn't notice something?

Happy Monday, Questers!
What a way to start the week: the Unexpected Quest update is out now ! This free update comes with additions to the ‘ Graphics ’, ‘ Game ’, and ‘ Sound ’ tab such as the highly requested disabling of characters mumbling during cinematics. It also introduces the new ‘ Tales ’ mode
What a way to start the week: the Unexpected Quest update is out now!
This free update comes with additions to the ‘Graphics’, ‘Game’, and ‘Sound’ tab such as the highly requested disabling of characters mumbling during cinematics. It also introduces the new ‘Tales’ mode with the initial two tales focussing on battles. You are able to choose from 3 difficulty levels but beware … unlike in ‘Story’ mode, this time around you can lose.
Want a list of the changes coming your way with the update? Well since you asked, here’s the full breakdown:
Settings Dialog

Tabs for different settings
In the 'Graphics' tab, in addition to the image quality, it is now possible to change the screen resolution separately
In the ‘Sound’ tab, it is now possible to disable the mumbling of characters during cinematics
In the ‘Game’ tab, you can now change the size of the interface
Game

After clicking on ‘Play’, we can choose a new mode – ‘Tales’
The ‘Tales’ Mode

Unlike in ‘Story’ mode, here you can lose
The first 2 tales are dedicated to battles: The first one will have you fighting off waves of enemies every night whereas the second one challenges your ability to fight lots of enemies with few warriors at your disposal
Choose from 3 difficulty levels
A little head’s up: The update is only available to for Windows users.
