Releasing Neyyah was a huge milestone in not just my professional life, but also my personal life ... My first ever game release! Quite wild. I'd worked on very small projects as a teenager. They never released to market. I was using dial up internet, and pretty much taught myself how to use 3D modelling software (using Anim8or: www.anim8or.com) so times were simpler! But these experiences were stepping stones in my love for 3D modelling and world building. These elements lie at the very heart of Neyyah, and all the work I produce here at DRE.

Neyyah has sold over 10k copies, hits Very Positive reviews, and has helped propel me into a few different cool opportunities progressing forward!
Using prerendered graphics and an engine which could give Hypercard a run for its money (Visionaire Studio 5 - so good for adventure game dev!), Neyyah was designed to quench the nostalgia thirst for players wanting something different, unique, yet reminiscent of perhaps a more simple time in gaming. The game took a whole 7 years to develop, starting out in Western Australia, a majority of work being conducted in England, then finishing up in Scotland! I still work as a full time solo game developer here in Scotland, developing some cool magical worlds which I'm not announcing just yet, but definitely excited to sneak peek a few things down the track. Plus some cool Neyyah goodies being conjured up, more on that in the video! Thank you to everyone involved in getting this game out there and making it the reality it is now ... My family, my friends, my Sophy, Microprose, Screen Australia, Scudley Films, Sandbox Productions, Dionous Games, and everyone else who assisted in evolving and executing the magic of Neyyah. Of course, biggest thank you to all the adventurers out there who have stepped through Neyyah's portal and experienced the love, passion and energy poured into this game over the years. Thank you so much!
Can't wait to share more in the future! Now for now, looking back at long development time and lessons learned from Neyyah (the before and after, the good and bad), they have resulted in personal realisations, professional achievements and amazing opportunities. It's lovely watching gamers jump into Neyyah, and becoming lost in its mysteries.
If you've played Neyyah, consider leaving a review! More the merrier. Share your thoughts and experiences! Always open to feedback to help improve my games moving forward.
Enjoy, and thank you all for being awesome!
Don't Dream It.
Be It.

AGG and myself in Aberdeen, Scotland, filming for the 'Defy Reality Entertainment studio' footage earlier in the year.

Me just outside the flat where one of the final stretches of development took place in Felixstowe!
Posing with a pair of Payeetas! I wonder what needs to be powered with these things ...

Me, Sophie and David at Costa in England - just before I spent over another five hours on the road back to Aberdeen! Coffee is well needed!
