As in, one can never recapture the feelings of youth even if one returns to the place of childhood rearing. Such is the case for Junie, who finds herself facing past demons and struggling greatly, as we all do, with the word "rearing." Watts, on the other hand, acts as cool and calm as you'd expect from one with such a mature mastery of his emotions. So crank up the Toots McGoots and let's get rolling...

Now's the time to team up with new and veteran Vault Hunters alike for a badass blitz of looter shooter action during the Borderlands 4 Free Play Weekend* and first anniversary sale**, live now!
You and your combat-ready compatriots will be able to battle every bandit, monster, and wild boss fight included in the base game, including free post-launch additions like Circle of Slaughter mode. If you're joining friends who already own Borderlands 4 and a DLC Vault Hunter (including Loveless the Hacker***), they'll still be able to play as their DLC Vault Hunter, but your party will be limited to missions included in the free-to-play base game content.

Two minds exist inside Loveless, forming a synchronized set of lethal skills that strike as one. Through a symbiotic melding of the biological and digital, this ex-Anshin hacker-turned-assassin has become a superior lifeform. Equipped with the highest-end cybernetics, Loveless shares her psyche with a digital virus of her own creation, which can digistruct into a physical Wyrm form to act as a deadly extension of her shared, perfection-seeking will.
Loveless' abilities are aggressive and agile, using a cybernetic arsenal to cut down enemies with Corrosive and Radiation damage. Throw her Plague Star shuriken to slice through mobs while spreading a withering Contagion, outsmart opponents with the stealthy misdirection of her Visual Paradox Nexus that can cloak Loveless and spawns a decoy in her place, or sic her Malignant Construct on targets and watch your symbiote Wyrm companion eradicate them with its tail whips and toxic breath. Loveless' Action Skills have added utility through low-cooldown power spikes called Functions and high-impact finishers called Executables.

Welcome to the jungle, where a tropical resort made for the Timekeeper's chosen is about to become a warzone. Team up with FL4K, an unequaled beastmaster who lives for The Hunt, to save their loyal skag companion Mr. Chew and teach the Tediore corporation a brutal lesson about primal nature.
On the remote island of Providence, upper-echelon Electi once vacationed in a luxurious retreat neighboring lush wilderness and a majestic volcano. In a ploy to secure Providence's precious Ordonite resource, Tediore has sent an expeditionary group led by five elite managers who serve the ruthless Lieutenant Harmony.
Venture into the verdant wilds and aid FL4K and their pet in the urgent fight against Tediore. Hunt down the managers however you see fit and show them that Vault Hunters can never be tamed.
This content is recommended for Vault Hunters of level 13+. In order to access the Providence island, you'll first need to complete the "A Lot to Process" mission in the Fadefields. You can also roll a new Vault Hunter that starts directly at the FL4K and the Last Resort content at level 13.
Once you've acquired Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort and have completed the "A Lot to Process" mission, you can initiate the Story Pack 2 content by interacting with the distress beacon near The Bones of Sanctuary in the Terminus Range. It will also be marked on your ECHO map as a new mission.

Kairos was forever changed by the cataclysmic arrival of the Elpis moon, and now the planet's showing signs of coming apart completely. Shards of Ordonite continue to spread corruption, and the recent appearance of unstable Phase rifts threatens to break the bonds of reality. With her Siren powers and attunement to Phase energies, Amara has pinpointed a possible source of the worsening instability: one of Vile Lictor's old laboratories, where Order Synths that once served him lie dormant.

Once you've acquired Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows, you'll be able to start its repeatable mission after you've completed the "A Lot to Process" mission in the Fadefields during the main campaign. You'll find Bounty Pack 5's mission-starting chunk of Ordonite near any Bounty Board in the major hub areas, which will be marked on your ECHO map as a new mission.
Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows also includes a new side activity via the Vile Test Chamber, an experimental arena built to assess the strength and survivability of twisted test subjects. This activity is an endurance-demanding boss rush, as you face off against cloned variants of select mini-bosses from across Kairos. Should you overcome the first three encounters within a time limit, you'll get a shot at taking down Test Zero, a mini-boss that's unique to the Vile Test Chamber.
While Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows represents the new narrative-focused content, Bounty Pack 5: Vault Card 5 lets you earn new space-age rewards through gameplay, with 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear to unlock! Playing Borderlands 4 with a Vault Card active gives you more loot and XP via Daily and Weekly Challenges, and can be leveled up at your own pace (no time limits or expiring rewards). Once you own a Bounty Pack's Vault Card, you can activate that Vault Card via the Vault Card screen in your ECHO menu. Vault Card progression works just like leveling up: it's all driven by how much XP you're gaining. By exploring Kairos, killing enemies, and completing quests, you'll fill up your Vault Card progression in addition to your regular XP!

Two minds exist inside Loveless, forming a synchronized set of lethal skills that strike as one. Through a symbiotic melding of the biological and digital, this ex-Anshin hacker-turned-assassin has become a superior lifeform. Equipped with the highest-end cybernetics, Loveless shares her psyche with a digital virus of her own creation, which can digistruct into a physical Wyrm form to act as a deadly extension of her shared, perfection-seeking will.
Loveless' abilities are aggressive and agile, using a cybernetic arsenal to cut down enemies with Corrosive and Radiation damage. Throw her Plague Star shuriken to slice through mobs while spreading a withering Contagion, outsmart opponents with the stealthy misdirection of her Visual Paradox Nexus that can cloak Loveless and spawns a decoy in her place, or sic her Malignant Construct on targets and watch your symbiote Wyrm companion eradicate them with its tail whips and toxic breath. Loveless' Action Skills have added utility through low-cooldown power spikes called Functions and high-impact finishers called Executables.
Functions: Tap Action Skill an additional time to activate. Typically very low cooldown and fast bursts of power.
Executables: Press and hold Action Skill to activate. These have longer cooldowns with huge payoffs.
RAM: When Loveless inflicts a Critical Hit or applies a Status Effect she gains RAM. When RAM is filled, her Melee Attack will be Empowered, gaining increased Damage Dealt, but consuming all RAM. RAM is lost over time when none has been gained recently. The more filled RAM is, Loveless gains increased Gun Damage.
Plague Star (Virology skill tree): Loveless digistructs a massive Shuriken into her hand and throws it at her target, Piercing enemies, dealing Corrosive Action Skill Damage, and inflicting enemies with Contagion, which deals Corrosive Status Effect Damage over time for a duration. If an enemy suffering from Contagion dies, the virus seeks new hosts and inflicts them with a portion of the Contagion Stacks that the original enemy had.
Executable: Press and hold this Action Skill to detonate all Contagions, consuming them and dealing Corrosive Action Skill Damage in an area.
Visual Paradox Nexus (Hack / Slash skill tree): Loveless activates her Visual Paradox Nexus for a duration, increasing Movement Speed and Critical Hit Damage. Killing an enemy while Visual Paradox Nexus is active causes Loveless to enter Stealth for a brief duration and creates a Clone at the location of the killed enemy. Only one Clone can exist at a time.
Function: Pressing Action Skill again will send out a Slash with a Kusarigama, creating a wave of Radiation Melee Damage. If Loveless is in Stealth, the Kusarigama attack will Critically Hit and end Stealth.
Malignant Construct (Manifestation skill tree): Press Action Skill to Summon a digital Wyrm to fight by Loveless' side. When Loveless summons Wyrm, she gains Symbiosis Stacks, allowing her to benefit from Symbiosis Effects. Symbiosis Stacks deplete over time. Loveless gains Symbiosis when Wyrm kills an enemy or by using certain Passives.
Function: Press Action Skill while Wyrm is out to order them to Teleport towards an enemy, dealing Radiation Damage in an area around them.
Executable: Press and hold Action Skill while Wyrm is out to order them to use a powerful Breath Attack on an enemy, dealing Radiation Melee Damage.

Welcome to the jungle, where a tropical resort made for the Timekeeper's chosen is about to become a warzone. Team up with FL4K, an unequaled beastmaster who lives for The Hunt, to save their loyal skag companion Mr. Chew and teach the Tediore corporation a brutal lesson about primal nature.
On the remote island of Providence, upper-crust Electi once vacationed in a luxurious retreat neighboring lush wilderness and a majestic volcano. In a ploy to secure Providence's precious Ordonite resource, Tediore has sent an expeditionary group led by five elite managers who serve the ruthless Lieutenant Harmony.
Venture into the verdant wilds and aid FL4K and their pet in the urgent fight against Tediore. Hunt down the managers however you see fit and show them that Vault Hunters can never be tamed.
This content is recommended for Vault Hunters of level 13+. In order to access the Providence island, you'll first need to complete the "A Lot to Process" mission in the Fadefields. You can also roll a new Vault Hunter that starts directly at the FL4K and the Last Resort content at level 13.
Once you've acquired Story Pack 2: FL4K and the Last Resort and have completed the "A Lot to Process" mission, you can initiate the Story Pack 2 content by interacting with the distress beacon near The Bones of Sanctuary in the Terminus Range. It will also be marked on your ECHO map as a new mission.

Kairos was forever changed by the cataclysmic arrival of the Elpis moon, and now the planet's showing signs of coming apart completely. Shards of Ordonite continue to spread corruption, and the recent appearance of unstable Phase rifts threatens to break the bonds of reality. With her Siren powers and attunement to Phase energies, Amara has pinpointed a possible source of the worsening instability: one of Vile Lictor's old laboratories, where Order Synths that once served him lie dormant.
In this all-new repeatable mission, team up with Amara to track down the Phase disturbances and stop their propagation before they unravel the known universe. Be ready for anything with these Phase rifts; there's no telling what you'll see on the other side.
Once you've acquired Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows, you'll be able to start its repeatable mission after you've completed the "A Lot to Process" mission in the Fadefields during the main campaign. Playing Borderlands 4 with a Vault Card active gives you more loot and XP via Daily and Weekly Challenges, and can be leveled up at your own pace (no time limits or expiring rewards). Once you own a Bounty Pack's Vault Card, you can activate that Vault Card via the Vault Card screen in your ECHO menu. Vault Card progression works just like leveling up: it's all driven by how much XP you're gaining. By exploring Kairos, killing enemies, and completing quests, you'll fill up your Vault Card progression in addition to your regular XP!

Ruthlessly exploit and attack the vulnerabilities in your enemies' defenses when Loveless the Hacker, an all-new Vault Hunter, arrives on September 10 as paid DLC!* The latest episode of the Gearbox DevCast is a Loveless Spotlight, detailing her backstory, playstyle, and design philosophy. Hosts Andrew Reiner and April Johnson chatted with Game Designer Ryan Bailey, who crafted Loveless' Action Skills and Trait designs.
Two minds exist inside Loveless, forming a synchronized set of lethal skills that strike as one. Through a symbiotic melding of the biological and digital, this ex-Anshin hacker-turned-assassin has become a superior lifeform. Equipped with the highest-end cybernetics, Loveless shares her psyche with a digital virus of her own creation, which can digistruct into a physical Wyrm form to act as a deadly extension of her shared, perfection-seeking will.
Loveless' abilities are aggressive and agile, using a cybernetic arsenal to cut down enemies with Corrosive and Radiation damage. Throw her Plague Star shuriken to slice through mobs while spreading a withering Contagion, outsmart opponents with the stealthy misdirection of her Visual Paradox Nexus that can cloak Loveless and spawns a decoy in her place, or sic her Malignant Construct on targets and watch your symbiote Wyrm companion eradicate them with its tail whips and toxic breath. Loveless' Action Skills have added utility through low-cooldown power spikes called Functions and high-impact finishers called Executables.
The new Loveless Character Short "Uncontainable" features the shared consciousness of Loveless and her viral alter-ego Wyrm, as she recounts a violent dive into the digiverse in pursuit of precious Vault data:

With that, let's dig into Loveless' suite of deadly abilities and how they synergize to make her the ultimate life-taking lifeform.
For all you theorycrafting Vault Hunters, Loveless' Action Skills and full list of abilities across all three skill trees are now available on the Loveless Vault Hunter page nested within the Game Info page. But if you're looking for a high-level overview, here's a rundown to complement all the info Ryan shared during the Gearbox DevCast.
Loveless' trait RAM is a special bar that fills up as she scores Critical Hits or inflicts Status Effects on enemies, which are both fundamental strengths of her overall kit. Once the RAM bar is full, Loveless' next melee attack will be Empowered with amped-up damage, as she wields her Techno-Kagi claws (a play on the tekko-kagi weapons of feudal Japan) to slice up a nearby, soon-to-be-dead target.
This Empowered melee attack consumes Loveless’ entire RAM bar as an explosive finisher, but you can also opt to save it for the right moment, as her gun damage increases based on the fullness of the RAM bar. Just don't wait too long, as the RAM bar will steadily deplete if you haven't dished out Critical Hits or Status Effects recently.
Loveless's Action Skills have additional Function or Executable effects, along with passives that support them throughout her kit. Certain Action Skills have a Function, an Executable, or both.
Functions: Tap Action Skill an additional time to activate. Typically very low cooldown and fast bursts of power.
Executables: Press and hold Action Skill to activate. These have longer cooldowns with huge payoffs.
As for Loveless' Action Skills themselves, here are the subroutines and skill trees at her disposal. Making smart use of their Function and Executable effects is the key to unlocking their full potential:
Plague Star (Virology skill tree): Loveless digistructs a massive Shuriken into her hand and throws it at her target, Piercing enemies, dealing Corrosive Action Skill Damage, and inflicting enemies with Contagion, which deals Corrosive Status Effect Damage over time for a duration. If an enemy suffering from Contagion dies, the virus seeks new hosts and inflicts them with a portion of the Contagion Stacks that the original enemy had.
Executable: Press and hold this Action Skill to detonate all Contagions, consuming them and dealing Corrosive Action Skill Damage in an area.
Visual Paradox Nexus (Hack / Slash skill tree): Loveless activates her Visual Paradox Nexus for a duration, increasing Movement Speed and Critical Hit Damage. Killing an enemy while Visual Paradox Nexus is active causes Loveless to enter Stealth for a brief duration and creates a Clone at the location of the killed enemy. Only one Clone can exist at a time.
Function: Pressing Action Skill again will send out a Slash with a Kusarigama, creating a wave of Radiation Melee Damage. If Loveless is in Stealth, the Kusarigama attack will Critically Hit and end Stealth.
Malignant Construct (Manifestation skill tree): Press Action Skill to Summon a digital Wyrm to fight by Loveless' side. When Loveless summons Wyrm, she gains Symbiosis Stacks, allowing her to benefit from Symbiosis Effects. Symbiosis Stacks deplete over time. Loveless gains Symbiosis when Wyrm kills an enemy or by using certain Passives.
Function: Press Action Skill while Wyrm is out to order them to Teleport towards an enemy, dealing Radiation Damage in an area around them.
Executable: Press and hold Action Skill while Wyrm is out to order them to use a powerful Breath Attack on an enemy, dealing Radiation Melee Damage.
Loveless' Virology skill tree has clear elemental affinities for Corrosive and Radiation, though she's adept at applying Status Effects in general, lending to all kinds of build possibilities. If you start racking up Contagion stacks on a few enemies in a larger group, the viral infection can quickly spread and decimate everything it touches. You can also focus in on the Plague Star itself with Augments like d://File, which makes the shuriken ricochet and leave Radiation Hazards in its wake, or the replicat.exe Capstone that sends out three shurikens which orbit around you to unleash up-close Corrosive devastation.
The Hack / Slash skill tree is a mix of skills that reward gunplay and melee attacks alike. As Ryan highlighted, this skill tree evokes gameplay vibes similar to Borderlands 2's Zer0, as it lends itself to builds that prioritize precision shots with Sniper Rifles while also offering specializations for close-quarters combat. The Clone that spawns in after you score a kill during Visual Paradox Nexus can be turned into an extension of Loveless' lethality by Augments and Capstones, while the Footwork passive and its synergistic skills can combine to turn Loveless into a fast-moving melee brawler.
While discussing Malignant Construct, Ryan gave a special shoutout to Gabriel Vézina, a fellow Game Designer who worked on this iconic Action Skill that unleashes Loveless' symbiotic Wyrm. In contrast to more traditional pet classes, such as Vex and her autonomous feline companion Trouble, Loveless' Malignant Construct and its correlating Manifestation skill tree are designed to encourage constant engagement and instruction of Wyrm to maximize its damage. Deploying a consistent rhythm of Functions and Executables will turn Wyrm into a radiation-breathing weapon of mass destruction, and the resulting Symbiosis Stacks will buff Loveless to new heights via a multitude of powerful passives.

Welcome to the jungle, where a tropical resort made for the Timekeeper's chosen is about to become a warzone. Team up with FL4K, an unequaled beastmaster who lives for The Hunt, to save their loyal skag companion Mr. Chew and teach the Tediore corporation a brutal lesson about primal nature.
On the remote island of Providence, upper-crust Electi once vacationed in a luxurious retreat neighboring lush wilderness and a majestic volcano. In a ploy to secure Providence's precious Ordonite resource, Tediore has sent an expeditionary group led by five elite managers who serve the ruthless Lieutenant Harmony.
Venture into the verdant wilds and aid FL4K and their pet in the urgent fight against Tediore. Hunt down the managers however you see fit and show them that Vault Hunters can never be tamed.
As Chris explained during the latest Gearbox DevCast, the development team designed Providence to feel completely different from the Kairos you've seen in the base game. You're free to explore this dense jungle and uncover its mysteries as you see fit, with eye-catching landmarks that will help you navigate through the brush. And you won't have to go it alone as you venture into the dangerous undergrowth, as FL4K will fight by your side during specific missions in their continuation of The Hunt, demonstrating their killer instinct and pinpoint accuracy with sniper rifles.
Verticality is also a core part of Providence's layout, bolstered by a new type of mobility: ziplines. You'll be able to traverse high above the treetops of Providence's jungle by grappling onto ziplines, which you can use to reach new vantage points or get the upper hand in combat.
Speaking of combat, the island is crawling with Tediore troops, including soldiers in exo-suits that are the bulky, less-sophisticated precursors to the high-end Deadframe exo-suit that keeps Rafa going. Just like in the Official Character Short for Rafa ("YOLT"), killing the pilots of these exo-suits won't be enough to stop them, as the metal frame will keep fighting even after its fleshy center is shot dead. Towering above the disposable infantry and exo-suit soldiers, Tediore has also deployed hulking mechs with varying weapon attachments that can buff their allies and digistruct reinforcements into battle. You'd do well to take down these heavy support units ASAP before they can amass an overwhelming army.
Just like their distinct brand of manufactured weapons, Tediore's forces are digistructed into being, beamed down from their T-shaped flagship that stores soldiers like they're bits of data on a server. If you can eliminate Tediore's rank-and-file grunts, colossal war machines, and the elite managers who lead them, you'll have a shot at taking on Lt. Harmony.
Reaching her will be a challenge itself, as Tediore has converted the volcano on Providence into a base-of-operations bunker. That volcano is very much still active, and can spew out Ordonite-infused lava across the island, including molten rocks that spawn minibosses on impact in new world events. Another new type of activity you'll only find on Providence are opportunities to upload yourself into Tediore's digiverse servers, battling waves of enemies at the source before they can materialize into the physical world.
If you can manage to survive Providence's treacherous wilds and the legion of Tediore troops occupying them, you'll have a chance at some incredibly powerful new loot:

Kairos was forever changed by the cataclysmic arrival of the Elpis moon, and now the planet's showing signs of coming apart completely. Shards of Ordonite continue to spread corruption, and the recent appearance of unstable Phase rifts threatens to break the bonds of reality. With her Siren powers and attunement to Phase energies, Amara has pinpointed a possible source of the worsening instability: one of Vile Lictor's old laboratories, where Order Synths that once served him lie dormant.
In this all-new repeatable mission, team up with Amara to track down the Phase disturbances and stop their propagation before they unravel the known universe. Be ready for anything with these Phase rifts; there's no telling what you'll see on the other side.
As Max mentioned during the most recent Gearbox DevCast, Bounty Pack 5's mission is a chance to revisit Elpis and the Phase dimension that connects all Sirens, both of which are incredibly important to the overall story of Borderlands 4. And as April pointed out, making Amara the central character gave the development team a chance to go deeper into the lore of Sirens and their vital place in the Borderlands universe, as Amara grapples with the possibility that her tether to the Phase has been permanently disrupted.
When Bounty Pack 5: Amara and the Vile Shadows debuts on September 10, completing the mission will unlock a Vault Hunter Skin usable by all Vault Hunters, a Vehicle, and an ECHO-4 Drone Skin. In addition, you can farm a new boss, two new mini-bosses, and new Vile enemy types for a new Pearlescent weapon and six new pieces of Legendary loot!

Playing Borderlands 4 with a Vault Card active gives you more loot and XP via Daily and Weekly Challenges, and can be leveled up at your own pace (no time limits or expiring rewards). Once you own a Bounty Pack's Vault Card, you can activate that Vault Card via the Vault Card screen in your ECHO menu. Vault Card progression works just like leveling up: it's all driven by how much XP you're gaining. By exploring Kairos, killing enemies, and completing quests, you'll fill up your Vault Card progression in addition to your regular XP!
Starting with Bounty Pack 3, we committed to releasing DLC for Borderlands 4 in two distinct parts that you can purchase individually, giving you more choice to buy the content that most appeals to you. Story Pack 1 and Bounty Pack 2 pre-date this approach, but come September 10, you'll be able to purchase those DLCs in individual parts as well, or as bundles if you're playing on Steam.
