The last few months have been amazing for us to see all the love and feedback we’ve gotten. Though we’re a small crew, we’re actively working to listen to our players and optimize the game. If you haven’t checked out our previous patch notes, we’d advise you to to see what our team has been cooking up in the kitchen (trust us - it’s a LOT): Patch 1.1, Patch 1.2.

Hi folks, 1.2 is out, which means it’s time for a new round of updates for Romancelvania, plus address any additional fixes that are next on our plate. We’re most excited to share with you that our navigation map feature is now available on Steam based on the given community feed

We’re most excited to share with you that our navigation map feature is now available on Steam based on the given community feedback we’ve received over the last few months. You can now oversee a high-level map overview simply by pressing ‘M’ at any point (minus boss battles and cutscenes). We hope this may help clear up navigation issues and help you enjoy Romancelvania’s robust levels and extensive worldbuilding. And for the completionists out there, this should hopefully help you find that item that will get you to 100%.
1.2 Update - Patch Notes
- Updated a new map feature that allows you to navigate across levels
- Added an additional Blood Pool save point before the end game
- Added warnings for places that do not allow you to return afterward
- Retimed some confessional text displays
- Resized the text for Options to be more legible
- Updated tutorial text pop-ups for additional clarity
- Made specific bosses immune to Headouken
- Updated collision across enemies
- Fixed performance issues on the machines when fighting Gourd Tossers
- Updated damage FX and enemy reactions
(Edited 11:48AM) Known issues which will be fixed in a future hotfix:
- Loading an empty save load will ask you to choose another profile, but you cannot navigate the menu until you back out and re-enter.
- Booty Bay, Meatball Garden, De Nile, and Thundercrack Hollow might not pan or center correctly in certain areas.
- Illessa is shown as the default elimination choice after Episode 2's Black Rose Ceremony, despite who you choose. Player's can cancel and reattempt to select their elimination choice.
- The Flying Spaghetti Monster can be eliminated before the fight is triggered due to a chance of early collision.

From general bug fixes to larger game overhauls, this addresses many of the feedback that we have gotten from players, that we hope will improve the experience of Romancelvania. And before we tune you to your regular programming, we’d like to highlight that we will be participating in the LudoNarraCon this year which starts TODAY! That means you get 20% off the game this weekend only so if you’ve been hesitant, now’s your chance to see what Romancelvania is all about.
Here’s all the BIG changes we’ve brought to 1.1 (non-spoiler):
- Updated crystal and flair system to create more enjoyable and streamlined combat experience.
- Lighting updates to increase character and enemy visibility.
- Updated lighting on several cutscenes featuring Femme Drac and other character models, and various environments.
- Navigation bug fixes and markers to aide in progression.
- Weapons balancing to sword and impaler.
- Reworked enemies and boss battles to create fairer combat.
- Dodge mechanic!
- Steam Deck performance updates.
Drac now emits a low glow to help you see them even in darker environments.

- Steam Cloud saves are enabled.
- Made performance updates to the castle and other areas of contention for the Steam Deck.
Gameplay Improvements
Enemies
- Added in more enemies.
- Tuned Pumpkink to be less punishing.
- Tuned physics on Rollkins.
- Adjusted Skeledudes’ animation to improve range and allow for clearer telegraph and dodge.
- Balanced Dick M’s boss battle.
- Dick M now drops the key to the office storage and the set.
- Updated collisions and effects in Lickety Splits.
- Yojamesbo rebalanced and collision updated.
- New Gumdrop type!
Weapons/Abilities/Items
- Flairs now are toggled by pressing the Right Shoulder button and can be used by pressing the right trigger button. Training has been updated to reflect this.
- Start you off in the game with flair and all the weapon/trick slots filled to ground the player better and show there are multiple tricks, treats and flair.
- Dodge now in combat using the left trigger.
- Included a tutorial for the crystal system.
- Improved the speed and hitbox of the sword to create more reliable hits when jumping.
- Updated the Impaler so that it now dashes through enemies.
- Retuned healing amounts on Treats
Level
- Improved guidance around the Retro Castle to avoid getting lost.
- Added blocking volumes to keep you from getting launched during Lulu’s fight.
- Added blocking volumes to keep you from jumping out of Sea Weasel’s basement.
- Fixed various assets that required a collision tweak to avoid players getting stuck.
- Added signage to guide players more clearly to Fenton and Lightning.
- Tuned the lightning in Thundercrack Hollow to be more forgiving. Also updated the walkpath to be less confusing.
- Reduced the time it takes for Grim to appear on-screen in the Mall.
- Reduced the time it takes to make a mercy choice at the Castle for the Van Helsings.
- Opened the pathway in the Galleria so you can run straight through and not have to double jump to the 2nd level near Hot Toothpick.
- Changed your character direction when teleported to the Mall.
- Locked off the castle library until Fenton joins the cast.
- The Golden Room is now visible to avoid confusion but is locked off until Golden Hour.
- Van Helsing will now be hidden inside the Church if you vote them off.
- Reworked the skateboard sequence.
- Added safety nets for specific quest items in case players leave regions before picking them up.
- Spaced the lollipops out so you can no longer get stuck on them.
- Removed repeat conversation exploits.
UI
- Added further in-game feedback to communicate low-health state.
- Added indicators to date and gift selection screens to more clearly indicate you can scroll to see more characters.
- Fast Travel screen now toggles in order from left to right.
- Added an Option to allow the Item Wheel to be a toggle or a hold.
- Resized a number of screens to better fit at lower resolutions.

- Added two additional quests to clarify where to find Nefret (“Got the Power”, “Electrified!”)
- Added an additional exchange between Drac and Battaboom to explain why the Van Helsings talk the way they do.
- Added more enemy vulnerabilities.

- Adjusted Femme Drac and various character models in conversations to have better lighting.
- Relit the following environments: Retro, Castle, Grimmys, Salty Sea Weasel, Forest, Mausoleum, Smashmounds, Castle Dungeon, Blue Room, Smashmounds, Benefactor Room.
- Tweaked Battaboom’s Light.
- Added a slight glow to Drac to help them stand out.
- Tweaked lighting on enemies to improve visibility.
- Changed the pool’s dirt path texture.
Audio
- Added attack and movement sounds to the samurais.
- Added zoom sound to transition to the Ballroom.
- Updated the audience’s reaction sounds.
Misc
- Adjusted the camera at Lulu’s house so that the FOV resets properly.
- Updated with new credits.
- Updated the Kickstarter backer credits.
- Updated death FX on many enemies.
Hotfixes
- Nefret’s special date unlocks correctly now on the pause screen.
- Fixed a bug with Nefret’s Inner Chamber quest.
- Fixed a stuck bug in De Nile on the stairs.
- Removed the collison on the door behind the card table inside the mall.
- Moved the retro candles in Retro Grounds to drop money.
- Fixed Power and Shield treat icon persisting after use (Steam Deck).
- Fixed so that the option for more conversations with Sol, PS Elle, and Van Helsing now hide properly when they are completed.
- Fixed a bug where if you return to Fenton after getting Strength in Fiction Quest but before completing it, you get an empty conversation.
- Fixed a bug where if you visit Medusa before yesterday’s hotfix AND return to her, the gallery wall will block you.
- Fixed an out of world bug where you can jump out of Sol’s area of the castle.
- Fixed a bug in the Profile selection where it required you to backout of a profile a second time.
- Fix to Medusa stuck bug where if you trigger her explosion in the gallery and DO NOT talk to her, then go to save and return, you can’t leave her room.
- Fixed a bug where players could leave Hokkaido before Grim appears to take you back to Drac’s Castle.
- Fixed a bug where the HUD was still active after Grim’s introduction.
- Fixed foreground obstructionst at lower resolutions.
- Fixed an issue where names would overlap in the credits.

Hey everyone, 1.0.1 is out now and we’re looking to share some of the bugs we squashed, especially for our Steam Deck players, plus address any fixes that’s next on our plate.
- Fixed a Steam Deck video codec issue that was causing empty white videos to loop indefinitely.
- Fixed an issue where players would get stuck in Medusa’s area where you can’t leave her room.
- Added a training message to introduce The Impaler in the Retro Grounds.
- Added dialog between Drac and Bataboom to explain why the Van Helsings sound the way they do.
- Added Steam Cloud saves!
Things We’re Aware Of (And That We’re Addressing)
- Deluxe Edition OST - Aware some users are unable to access the OST. We are aware and have flagged this with Valve and should be fixed (fingers crossed!) within the next 48 hours.
- Steam Deck - While the fix allows players to experience Romancelvania on the Steam Deck, we are still optimizing the experience and have not yet formally submitted for Steam Deck green check certification, so please play at your own risk! If you just can’t wait to try it out, we recommend switching your graphics settings from EPIC to HIGH for now.
As a lean team with lots of love and ambition for our project, we want to make sure players are feeling heard (and continue to be heard) as we work on optimizing the game, so please keep the feedback coming. We’re looking to identify what’s most important for our players as we take in all the feedback, and plan to address what we can in future patches. It’s our goal to give you as much information as possible and be transparent about development on our backend.

So let’s start it off with a BIG thank you to everyone who tried our game and provided feedback! Even though the demo is no longer available on Steam, that doesn’t mean the show’s over - far from it!
As we race to the finishing line, we’re also tuning in to hear what our players have been saying! And we’d like to share some of the results from our demo survey to give you a peek of how other players fared in our demo.
Favorite Characters
Boy, the love for Vess, Drac, and Medusa are competing for each other's throat and it’s no wonder why! It’s hard not to be in love with our “suave” and “sexy as hell” MC, Drac, taking center stage as our monster bachelor. And Medusa knows how to bring the fun with her upfront sass and humor. One player even noted that her lines “just kept making [them] laugh.”Though, like every good champagne, our favorite genie-in-a-bottle, Vess, came out pouring with positive responses from fans! Relatability is the secret garnish, as many noted how they just really got Vess. Let’s share our favorite quotes about why Vess was their number one character:
“I just love how tired and done she is, and she has some really adorable interactions with Drac.”
“She is a whole mood that I am here for.”
“She intrigued me, and her interactions with Drac felt most natural to me.”
Favorite-to-Hate Characters
In contrast, Brocifer became our favorite-to-hate Jersey boy! Brocifer is definitely a “ride-or-die” choice for many players. To the fans who did pick him as their go-to, let’s share some of our favorite love-hate quotes about Brocifer:“He's deliciously annoying and very well voiced.”
“His dialogue was to die for and the fact that he is a DJ and makes music is great!”
“He was the character I loved to hate.”
Because of this, he was voted #1 to eliminate at the Black Rose Ceremony. It’s a shame but any good devil always has his tricks up his sleeve.
Date Locations
We had a sample of the date locations in Drac’s castle for players to flirt and mingle in: the Fireplace, the Piano Room, and the Gold Room. Is it a casual drink at the bar or hearing someone laying Beethoven on you that gets you in the romantic mood? Neither according to players, because Fireplace is where most players preferred to heat things up! Even though Drac can’t eat, the dining table offers plenty of good opportunities for one-on-one conversation with the contestants.Abilities
There were plenty of abilities to try out in your first run with tons more to unlock in the full version! Losing your powers to Grim doesn’t stop Wolf Dash from being the runner up favorite ability, as you get to speed mercilessly through the castle. However, at number one, Headouken, charges up ahead (get it?) as an ability you gain after meeting Medusa in the Gallery. A throwback to the classic Hadouken ability in Street Fighter, Headouken lets you throw Medusa’s head toward enemies.Final Words
The responses we received on the survey throughout October has been eye-opening for us with tons of positive and constructive feedback! Tis a shout-out to all the shout-outs on social media, it absolutely means the moon and back! Watch on YouTube In our demo, you will be able to play the first chapter of Romancelvania for a “bite-sized” version of the experience we strive to deliver to you. To set the scene, you will play as a lovelorn, brooding Drac who, after a century of moping around, is thrown into a supernatural reality-dating show, hosted by the Grim Reaper (aka Grim) himself! Explore Drac’s castle, flirt with early dateable monsters, and fight against some of our outlandish baddies. With this demo, we hope you get a taste of the game’s concepts and mechanics that we have been lovingly brewing up.
For an optimal experience, we recommend using a controller as mouse and keyboard are not fully supported within this demo (but it will be at launch!). For more info on connecting your controller to Steam, please visit Steam's Getting Started Tutorial.
Needless to say, Romancelvania is still in the "mist" of development and we’re actively polishing nearly every piece of the experience, and we welcome your feedback.
