Today’s update addresses many issues brought up by the community. Thank you for your feedback and bug reports!

PC Update 1.0.0.2670

GAMEPLAY

* “Building Up” mission items will now spawn properly.

* Fixed an occasional crash when trying to deliver the “Stocking Up” mission.

* You will no longer get parasites while filling your flask.

* The sleeping bag and the tent no longer get damaged when packed up.

* Water barrels will now visually fill when they have water. They will fill faster in the rain and can evaporate when it’s hot.

* Removed the repeated ‘grunting’ sound when the player is suffering from an injury.

* Fixed navigation in the races menu and added the time of day to races that did not properly display that information in the UI.

* Animal footstep volume has been reduced.

* Collision with storable items (i.e. logs) has been removed to prevent players from getting stuck.

* Fixed an issue where a Race Track was made available before the bridge had been repaired.

* Your dog’s hunger will now properly increase over time.

* The dog’s bonding level will no longer reset when traveling to the hub.

* Rocks near Watkins Pond have had their collision extended to all better access.

* The volume of your dog splashing in water has been reduced.

GRAPHICS / UI

* Added additional graphics settings in the Main Menu.

* Graphics settings are saved and applied automatically after restarting the game.

* Graphic Settings Quality is now set to Medium by default

* Adjusted mouse sensitivity to be less overpowered

* Settings tab now change screens when clicked

* Removed reset to defaults option from graphics menu and fixed the sound effect spawning when you changed something in the graphics menu

* Cutom map markers will now display properly after changing maps

* Descriptions and Stats in the Weapons Rack now display properly.

* The icon pointing to Chip's location will no longer remain on screen after completion of the mission.

* Removed double icons that are obscuring visibility of the environment.

* Changed the Energy icon

CO-OP

* You can now continue to hunt after completing a Co-Op mission.

* Co-Op lobby now shows the same “Server Details” and outfit tab for all users.

* Custom clothes selection no longer resets after loading into a multiplayer Co-Op match.

* All players in a Co-Op match will now see the Customize Character option in the Lobby.

* Backing out of a Co-Op lobby will no longer cause the UI to disappear.

More updates are in the works, including the ability to get branches from trees. Stay tuned for more news!

Maps

Open Country covers three massive wilderness maps at launch. Mellow Hills, Tumnus Valley and Snowridge. Each map represents a different season with its own weather, animals and survival challenges. You’ll need to equip the right gear and stick up your camp to make it to the next day.

Survival / Tracking / Hunting

Everyone needs to eat and there’s no supermarket in Open Country. Tracking and hunting local game, such as elk or rabbit, is how you'll get your next meal. Look around for recent tracks that will lead you to big game that have recently passed by and take your shot. Be careful! Any stray noise, or the scent of a hunter moving upwind, can be enough to scare them off and you’ll go hungry. Explore the map and find the best hunting grounds. You may even decide to build a camp nearby to make return visits and food storage easier.

ATV – Snowmobile

Getting around the massive maps of Open Country can take a while if you’re traveling on foot. Luckily, we’ve added some other ways to get around. Grab an ATV or snowmobile and you’ll cut travel time significantly. There is a cost, however. Riding a motorized vehicle though the wilderness will scare away most game. If you need to bag some big game, you’ll need to make the final part of your trek on foot.

Fishing

Today’s video reveals a major part of the game that we have been looking forward to showing off...FISHING! Head to the shore of a nearby lake or river, or hop into a fishing boat, and cast your line into the water. You’ll choose from a variety of fishing rods and bait to best suit your location. There’s a wide variety of fish to be caught, and each can supplement your meal choices.

Character Creation and Co-Op

Any adventure is better when you share it with a friend. Open Country launches with online two-player co-op modes. In Co-Op, two players work together to survive the wilderness and complete a hunt for big game. In Versus Mode, two players will compete to be the first to bag the trophy.
