Dear All,
Update 3.5 is live. It continues with the introduction of the recently announced gameplay mechanic changes and overall game rebalancing.
Here are the main changes implemented in this update:
1) Player vehicles and infantry units can eliminate enemy occupied structures from a distance. This also now works for enemy vehicles being able to deal damage to player occupied structures.
This lays ground for further development of some mechanics and gives players two tactical options:
a) Clearing a building from a safe distance b) Clearing the building with direct breach by infantry
2) Occupied structure HP now represents the combined health of combatants inside it.
3) Further rebalancing of individual Unit firepower and health points.
4) Further mission rebalancing with enemy size, reinforcement direction and timing.
5) Enemy static positions bug with Direct Attack feature, resolved.
6) New enterable and occupied structures.
7) T-55 behavior bugs resolved.
8) New missions.
Note:
We know some of you experience problems with Support assets arriving late, which seems to increasingly degrade over gameplay time.
We are working on the issue.

Dear All,
Here is another small update with the following changes:
1) Further Unit stat and firepower rebalancing.
2) Mission spawn frequency and difficulty rebalancing.
3) First 2 of the total of 8 new COP construction missions related to "name your COP" contest.
4) Further AI sprite replacement with official DoD photos.
5) Small mission spawn condition and location bug fixes.
6) New Direct Order projector.
7) Dead unit KIA marker added.
Larger content and feature improvement update is still a work in progress and will release as soon as possible.

Dear All,
This is a minor update, mostly focussed around the various mission and unit balancing issues. As noted in the previous update, this topic is a priority for us right now and is still a work in progress. As we receive your feedback and further play test the various scenarios, we will continue tuning the multiple variables behind units stats and mission difficulty.

Dear All,
The following update addresses some major concerns we picked up from your comments after the recent major update.
The following have been changed:
1) Support weapons now properly destroy an occupied building with enemies inside it.
2) We have increased buildings capacity, which in turn should limit or completely eliminate the stacking problem on entry.
3) We started the process of replacing AI materials with official photos from the Afghanistan conflict zone.
4) Due to the challenges posed by the new aggressive behavior profiles of AI, we have started to rebalance some weapon systems and unit health points.
NOTE: this process is still ongoing, and we will be implementing further improvements to unit and mission balancing in the coming days and weeks.
5) Further improvements to locations and mission design.
We are counting on your robust support and comments.

Unleash your creativity and help us create new Combat Outposts !!!
Out of all the suggestions, our team will pick 8 best and most badass COP names.
Those names will then be used in the game to mark 8 new locations (one per sector) with fully constructable outposts that each War Room player will be able to develop with combat engineer troops.
To join, simply suggest the name in the reply to this post.
If you wish to go a step further, we offer you the ability to suggest the location and layout of the COP you name.
This will require you to choose a position on the satellite map of the game area.
You can also draw a simple layout or reference once you like from real world pictures of FOBs or COPs or use any available AI image generation program to create something you like. We will use this reference to the best of our ability to recreate your proposal.
You can email us the marked locations and drawings or images to: [email protected]
Authors behind the selected names will also receive a free War Room Steam key they can use personally or share with a friend.

First, we deeply apologize to you for the long delay in releasing the following fixes. As we noted in the past, a large part of our core programmer team has been outsourced to Ukraine early in the project. Brutal Russian invasion has resulted in some of our key team members having to depart their homes and seek safety. We are very happy to share that all of our partners on this project and their families managed to safely return to their homes in Ukraine early in the summer. Brave defense of their homeland by Ukraine Armed Forces has allowed our friends to pick up on work assignments when the situation at least partially stabilized in their area. We are very grateful for your patience and hope you can understand those extraordinary circumstances that delayed our work.
Regarding the update:
Due to deep code changes in some game systems, this update will only work on a new game.
The most important part of the update are various fixes to bugs that resulted in player units stuck in the satellite view, unable to return to bases.
Extensive testing has verified the success of those fixes. We remain open, however, to feedback, shall you experience issues known as stuck Units. Please make sure to play from new game to be certain all fixes from the update have been properly applied to your game.

Recent update has introduced new behaviors to AI like explosion impacts and shockwave having major influence on both friendly and enemy units. They will no longer stand idle once explosive weapons detonate in their vicinity.
This change has created a bug with explosive weapon damage radius, which is the main reason for this hotfix update.
We have also found and resolved further smaller issues with the way unit damage was calculated, resulting in further improvements to this system.

Update 1.1.1c

Few important, multiple smaller bugs have been fixed, and some game mechanics have been improved.
More details on fixes will be posted in WR Steam discussion forum.
Please note there still may be problems with some core game systems, mainly Save/Load game that we will continue to improve in future updates.
New content
Direct Unit control It is an optional feature that can be used if the player thinks the situation calls for an intervention. While in combat, the player is able to issue simple Move To or Attack/Defend orders to his troops. This feature allows you to better control the tactical situation during the battle. Soon we plan to release short clips to better inform on how this feature works.
Base upgrades FOB's can now be improved with new buildings. Upgrades will affect the way units regenerate HP, Morale, Endurance in bases. This determines how many units are available to deploy. If your garrison is strong, but few units are available, it probably means they lack in one of those attributes and the base cannot regenerate them to the minimum required for deployment.
VFX VFX's for all explosions and support assets have received a major overhaul. They now look more realistic and push what the game engine allows to new heights.
Audio New sounds have been added or replaced. Those include new combat chatter using real public domain DoD recordings. New explosion sound effects and multiple new vehicle and infantry weapons effects.
Video&Art New clips replaced static renders for missions and events. This adds better context to events on the ground and improves the overall graphic quality of the game. We plan to continue with this as not all scenarios and missions are enhanced in this way.
Missions New mission scenarios have been added. They expand the narrative and better connect with the reality of Afghan conflict. Players will have to spread their resources over more assignments, some will tie forces for longer periods of time making tactical decisions much harder will less troops available.
Map Map changes. Over 30 new locations have been added to the map. Multiple old ones have been greatly refined and improved.
Due to the nature of changes, we strongly suggest starting a new game.

Modern warfare is complicated. Not in the logistical and political sense like all wars are, but in a more intellectual sense -- without rival states facing each other like in the Napoleonic and World Wars or an ideological conflict like the Cold War and the Crusades, the landscape is steeped in shades of grey.
Some of the biggest challenges facing western militaries over the past decade has arguably stemmed from the threat of insurgency. It's not a new concept - it's been an integral part of most major conflicts of the 21st century, but it's only recently that's its dominated the global defence agenda in such a focused way, in no small part due to American and NATP operations in the Middle-East post 9/11.
It's proven an alluring subject matter in the war game world as well: insurgency and counter-insurgency have been featured in games from Call of Duty and Squad to Ndemic's Rebel Inc. and Johan Nagel's Afghanistan '11. War Room, the debut title of Binge Gaming, is the latest game to tackle this material, and it does so from a somewhat novel perspective. Eschewing the simple tabletop-like graphics and 'hand of god' approach of most wargames for a more diegetic and almost roleplaying experience.
