We are implementing significant, new systems to detect players using unauthorized controller hardware or software in Apex Legends on all platforms including: PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2.
We’ve spent the past several months thoroughly validating these systems to ensure they can accurately identify prohibited behavior.
Players that trigger these detections will be actioned upon and banned accordingly.
If you are using controller modifications, devices, or software to gain an unfair advantage, now is the time to stop. Playing on console does not make you exempt from detection or enforcement.
This is just the beginning of these new systems which we will continue to improve to keep pace with evolving cheating methods.
Additionally, we’ve continued to update and strengthen our existing anti-cheat systems this season, with new detections and enforcement targeting a range of cheating methods, including a pesky new cheat provider.
In our latest ban wave, over the past 7 days alone (at the time of writing this):
• 8,609 players were banned for cheating
• 290 DMA-related bans
• 76 Titan Controller bans
• 267 bans tied to a newly detected cheat provider
Over the past two weeks:
• 96 Predator-level players banned across all platforms
We continue to see improvements in our match infection rate. It has decreased to 3.9% down from 5.7% at the beginning of the season.
These numbers represent only a snapshot of our ongoing enforcement efforts. Our Anti-Cheat team continues to develop, test, and deploy new detections while improving our ability to identify emerging threats.
We want the community to know that we are actively working to identify and remove cheaters at every level of play — including the highest ranks. Thank you to everyone who reports suspicious behavior and helps us keep Apex Legends fair.

In addition to Bloodhound’s rework, buffs to Loba and Rampart, an energy weapon systems overhaul, and brand new Corrupted Attachments, we’re also bringing you a World’s Edge map rework, quality of life tweaks, and a slew of balancing changes. All of this is in pursuit of evolving Apex Legends into the best, most competitive Battle Royale out there. This season is going to push you and your squad to be the best you can possibly be, so get ready to group up, gear up, and dive into MARKED when it drops on August 4th, 2026!
In Season 29, we ran two matchmaking tests — 1-Tier Premade Restrictions and Diamond+ Solo-Queue-Only — to experiment with variables to potentially use to address player frustrations in Ranked. Thank you to everyone who engaged with the tests and for the feedback you provided; it’s integral to helping us shape the future of the game mode. We are actively analyzing and evaluating the data from these tests, and are in the process of writing an upcoming blog to discuss the results and next steps. Keep an eye out for the followup comms in the coming weeks.
We've beefed up our servers in Season 30. While not everyone will notice the difference, many players should experience increased stability, less lag, and lower chances of slo-mo servers across all game modes and regions. We're always working to improve the competitive experience for our players and, while these changes often take place behind the scenes, we’re excited to provide a noteworthy improvement for you all!
Dev Note: We feel World’s Edge is in a solid place competitively, and have seen the sentiments echoed throughout the community, so our focus in updating the map was reducing disparity between POIs and delivering on players’ frequently requested changes, such as the return of Sorting Factory and Construction Stacks. To complement Bloodhound’s rework, we leveraged the new POIs in this update to move Bloodhound’s story forward in a meaningful way.

Dev note: Over the lifetime of Apex, Looting has changed substantially. A rising problem we wanted to address with these changes was the loot inflation and ease that players have around finding very high quality loot. In many cases, progressing through a match could feel like a quick spike at the beginning or mid point of the match and quite flat afterwards.
We’ve overhauled several systems that were added over the past few years to shape a more engaging and straightforward loot chase for players. The spawn rates of high tier loot have been reduced across all maps, meaning that finding a rare Attachment will be a ‘rarer’ occurrence, and will signal a real shift in the power of your weapon.
Arsenals provide a consistent way to get the guns you want, but can disrupt the game start by luring players into hot drop contests in the open spaces around Arsenals. Arsenals are now time locked, similar to EVO Harvesters. This ensures that they are available early game when you want them, but that your earliest fights off the drop are supplied only by what you can loot from the map. Unique loot sources such as Wildlife, Vaults, MRVNs, Ticks, and Rollers are still present but provide reduced quality of loot.
TL;DR: Spawn rate of high tier loot has been reduced across all maps, which should shape a clearer and more cohesive looting experience.

Dev note: We are updating how Weapon Stats are shown in game to improve transparency and readability of gameplay in Apex. You can now explore with greater detail than ever the unique stats and performance characteristics of each weapon. By exposing these stats and allowing players to examine how different attachments impact weapon performance, players can make more informed choices in-game quickly. Presenting this greater information with visual refinements is part of our effort to improve Onboarding and clarity of gameplay for all players.

The loot card now shows a detailed breakdown of a weapon’s damage, ideal range, rate of fire, firing modes and weapon specific gameplay information.
When looking at a weapon to swap, the loot card now shows a quick comparison between the weapon you are holding and the weapon you would pick up.
Can be disabled by changing Interact Prompt Style from Default to Compact.

Dev note: Corrupted Attachments provide players with a meaningful choice when they are equipping their guns. Providing a unique blend of big buffs and negative stat trade offs will reshape a weapons performance and specialize its power. Limited to one Corrupted Attachment per weapon, players must make tactical decisions about their preferred loadouts. Need an absolute bullet hose for those close range fights? Put the Overflowing Mag on the R-99 for easier one-clips at the cost of longer reloads. Or do you want more maneuverability and speed? Put the Agile Standard Stock on the R-99 instead for increased movement speed at the cost of reduced mag size.

Dev note: We're taking a big swing with energy weapons this season and really shaking up their ammo systems. We've removed energy ammo entirely as a lootable item. The goal of this change was to provide another way to think about your weapon loadout choice, and why you are picking one weapon over another. To lean into their unique energy identity these weapons will now come with their own regenerating ammo pool. Removing the need to hunt for extra ammo or spend valuable inventory space opens up new loadout opportunities, but keep an eye on that stockpile - once it's run dry players will have to wait for it to regenerate. With replenishing ammo, we expect energy weapons to be most powerful in shorter fights, but start to lose ground in longer sustained engagements.

Dev note: Core to Apex is the Drop Ship experience, it is not only the game’s start, but it also influences a team's odds for success. A successful jump can be the difference between a top placement in a match and a quick trip back to the lobby. Timing and positioning your team for a good Drop is a skill check, and it is a responsibility that some players prefer to have in their direct control. Volunteering for Jumpaster empowers the more experienced and adventurous players who want to shape the start of their team’s game.
In game modes with a Jumpmaster, during Character Select, players can now volunteer to be Jumpmaster. This adds a deterministic way for players to take on the responsibility of being the Jumpmaster for their team.
During Character Select
When Volunteering is active, players will see an option to ‘Opt In To Jumpmaster’.
Players can press the corresponding button to Volunteer at any time during Character Selection.
Players who have Opted In to Jumpmaster will be marked on the UI in Character Select.
Players who volunteer for Jumpmaster on a match will be Opted In to Jumpmaster for future matches.
Players can use the same button press to Opt OUT of volunteering if they have previously Opted IN.
If more than one team member has Volunteered, Jumpmaster will be selected randomly from the group of Volunteers.
The Marked Battle Pass Free Track features a meaningful weapon charm, Purrfect Pals, starring two adorable cats.
This charm was created to honour a former Respawn developer, Benjamin Sklar, who passed away last year, and was inspired by the things that were most meaningful to him, including his two beloved cats, Tia and Sophia. Our friend embodied a strong sense of social justice and fairness. He loved astronomy, travel and photography. His special interests included quantum physics and personal finances. We miss him dearly, but we are comforted knowing his legacy can live on in Apex Legends. Welcome to the Apex Games, Tia and Sophia.

Dev Note: Despite changes to Bloodhound’s kit in Season 28, they remain nearly invisible at middle-to-high tiers and have the lowest pick rate once you get to Gold tier and above. Luckily, we teased additional changes, and it’s finally time to show off Bloodhound’s refreshed kit. The biggest change is a brand new Ultimate, Allfather’s Cloak. This is a multifaceted cloaking tool that will help your squad ambush opponents or escape third-party situations. Combined with easier-to-use tracking tools from your Passive and Tactical, it’s much easier to gain an understanding of the battleground and then push in when enemies show weakness. The hope is that Bloodhound players feel like they can now play from the front foot, leading their squad and creating openings instead of just scanning some enemies and hoping your allies can take advantage.

Bloodhound can now see a red trail near fresh enemy clues to guide you to them
This is similar to the red footsteps Bloodhound would see in their previous ultimate, Beast of the Hunt.
To reduce visual clutter, many types of clues have been removed. Traversal clues and Eliminations are the only ones that remain.
Trails and clues now get hidden when the owner dies, except the Player Killed clue

Her Passive can be underwhelming depending on the strength of LMGs, so we’re adding a new layer. We’re also improving her mobility with Sheila to help her in fights against more mobile opposition.

Dev Note: Valk has remained in the upper tier in terms of pick rates for several seasons now. As we continually try to level the playing field, it feels like time to reduce Valk’s power level. There are two main goals - reduce her “artillery” power, which rivals other characters who don’t have jetpacks, as well as make her Ultimate a bit easier to counter.

Dev Note: Axle’s pick rate has been trending in a healthier direction with each subsequent nerf, however, we understand her Kickstart drone is still too oppressive in too many contexts. On Axle’s release, players had the option to access double Tac or double Ult charges. Nitro Gates and Kickstart Drones have been everywhere, and it’s given everyone plenty of opportunities to learn how to use (and how to react) to her kit. Her Tac can help her entire team quickly close a gap. Her Ult can launch victims into the air. The strength of those outputs is not lost on us, and some of the changes over the season have simply been to limit the availability of some strong abilities. Other changes have been attempts to expand counterplay opportunities or change the context of when her abilities are strongest. The nerfs in this season are in the vein of the latter; we’ll see how Axle-related fights are affected and, if she’s still a menace to deal with in too many situations, we’ll take an even more heavy handed approach.

Dev note: We have seen the frustrations surrounding Seer – his Tactical can feel oppressive, and is being encountered at an increased rate – and are continuing to address them. The changes we’ve made so far have been meant to reduce the frequency with which you'll encounter Seer's Tactical. At split start, the most picked Upgrades (2 Tac charges / reduced Tac cooldown in Ult) saw ~90% and ~80% pick rates, respectively. When combined, players have access to 2 Tac charges on a very short cooldown. By moving both to level 3, players can only have one. These changes have helped address complaints of Tactical spamming in Ult, while keeping the intended power of those two Upgrades in place. As we discussed in our most recent Designer's Notes, Seer is a tricky Legend to balance, as a prominent Seer meta is an oppressive one. We will also reduce the amount of turn slow so you shouldn’t feel like you’re stun locked.

Welcome to Designer’s Notes for our next season - MARKED. We appreciate all the time you spent playing in the most recent season, and the feedback that you’ve provided. Using your feedback and our internal match data, we have been hard at work, tuning and adjusting to get ready for our next update.
This season we are excited to bring a much anticipated update to Bloodhound. We know there has been a lot of chatter about giving them a refresh and we are finally ready to reveal all the hard work that has gone into making Bloodhound a more competitively viable pick amongst the Legend roster. However, Bloodhound isn’t the only Legend getting updates. We have incoming buffs for Rampart and Loba to help make them more attractive picks, and changes to Valkyrie, Seer, and Axle to assuage some player frustrations.
We have significant changes coming to weapons and loot this season. We’ve refreshed our weapon and attachment UI to better help you understand the effects of each potential piece in your arsenal. Speaking of attachments, we are adding a new wave of attachments called “Corrupted Attachments.” These attachments have powerful buffs, but also noteworthy drawbacks. We are looking to create interesting risk-reward choices around the attachment meta and we’re excited to see how you leverage them in your in-game strategy.
In another big change: we are removing energy ammo from the loot pool. That’s right, energy weapons will now regenerate their ammo. This was done in an effort to create a unique way of playing with energy weapons and to give you more options for how you decide to manage your backpack. With this change, we are looking to provide more variety of choice and player expression, and want to see how you integrate this new system into your squad’s strategy.

Back in Season 28, we brought in a package of buffs to help Bloodhound’s pick rate while we worked on some bigger changes intended to make Bloodhound a more viable pick at all skill levels. Despite those changes, Bloodhound remains nearly invisible at middle-to-high tiers; they have the lowest pick rate once you get to Gold tier and above. It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve made substantial changes to each ability in their kit to help you truly live out the true hunter fantasy.

Bloodhound’s passive creates lingering trails behind enemies that you can follow to track and eliminate your opponents. You can also activate your White Ravens more easily by glancing at them for a short time.
Bloodhound’s Tactical now shows additional “snapshot” scans after the initial scan finishes, increasing the amount of time you can track enemy locations (without being a full wallhack).
Bloodhound is boasting a brand new Ultimate: Allfather’s Cloak. Activating their Ult will deploy a device that cloaks everyone — squadmates and enemies — who approaches it. The cloak persists for 12 seconds after leaving the Ult’s space and breaks after using your weapons or taking damage. While you aren’t fully invisible, you are much harder to see and track, allowing you to set ambushes for enemy squads or escape tricky situations.
Hidden Sight: refreshes your Tactical when you use your Ultimate, and hides your scanning pulse from enemies while cloaked allowing you to survey the scene without notifying enemies to your whereabouts
Bird’s Eye: allows your White Ravens to split off and mark two different enemies at the same time, identifying your two nearest threats
True Predator: allows you to recloak after firing your weapon, enhancing your ability to hit-and-run after using your Ultimate.
Loba’s loot-oriented kit has seen her popularity decline over time, particularly as amps and arsenals provide other ways to build healthy loadouts. While we expect Loba’s usefulness to rise with the loot changes coming in season 30 (more on that below), it still felt like she could use additional buffs to help keep her relevant.

The main change we’re making to Loba is reducing how long it takes to deploy her Tactical. - We’re reducing the activation time from 0.6s to 0.4s, increasing the projectile speed by ~30% so it lands more quickly, and adding a 15% range increase.
To make Loba’s Ult a bit more alluring, we’re shaving some time off of its cooldown, bringing it down from 150s to 120s, to help your squad stay ahead of other squads in terms of resources as the game progresses.
Despite significant changes in Season 27, Rampart remains near the bottom of pick rate graphs at every skill level. While she can be particularly powerful in late-game when set up in a great spot, her setup still feels slow and she’s too challenging to play throughout most of a match. As such, we have a handful of changes we’re making to hopefully pull up her pick rate a bit.
Rampart is gaining a new element to her Battle Modder passive: she progresses Locked Hop-Ups 50% faster to unlock more powerful weapons earlier in the match.
We have increased the health of Rampart’s walls, particularly at earlier EVO levels.
Rampart is also getting a movement buff for her Ultimate: she now moves significantly faster while spinning up or shooting Sheila.

Everyone’s favorite fighter pilot has remained in a strong position for a while now. As we work to manage power creep in our game, we felt Valk could use some slight nerfs to bring her in line.

Our first goal is to reduce her “artillery” potential - she can do significant poke damage from long range while having extra utility and mobility that others don’t.
We’re reducing her missile damage, as well as adjusting the trajectory of her missiles so they can’t get over top of high cover as easily.
Additionally, we want to reduce her Ultimate’s ability to keep her and her squad far above the fight while also knowing exactly where everyone is. To accomplish this we’re lowering the height by 15% and nerfing two Upgrades.
Eye in the Sky: Reduced through-wall scans base distance to 100m
Supersonic: Slightly nerfed the speed improvement when blasting off from 2.5 seconds to 3.0 seconds
Axle’s pick rate has been trending in a healthier direction with each subsequent nerf following her race to the top on release. Her Kickstart drone is still too oppressive in too many contexts, and we’re continuing to evaluate how to increase counterplay opportunities. Now that she’ll be affected by her own ult, Axle players should think twice before deploying it in close-quarters skirmishes. She can no longer stack two Ult charges, and we’ve reined in the overall range that players can super slide with her Nitro Gates. Quantitative data isn’t everything; we’re still keeping a close eye on player sentiment when it comes to Nitro Gate and Kickstart usage and will continue to adjust if needed.

Seer’s back in the spotlight after our most recent round of buffs, and he’s been hard to ignore! Seer is a tricky Legend to balance, frequently yo-yo-ing between the absolute bottom and top of pick rate charts. He’s on a knife’s edge where a buff will either do very little, or make him entirely OP.
The last time Seer hit the heights of the top 3 Legends in terms of pick rate, he dropped off on his own naturally after about a week. It seems our Artist-in-Residence has more staying power this time around, and not everyone is a fan.
We already took a swipe at Seer’s Tactical uptime by reworking his Upgrade tree as part of a quick hotfix after the mid-season split. His new Level 3 Upgrade choices are much more evenly split than they were before in terms of pick-rate.
However, it seems like Tactical uptime alone wasn’t the root of the problem, and we needed to roll back some of the new strength of the Tactical. Specifically, turn slow (slowing the rate at which you can rotate your Legend) was added to his ability at the mid-Season split, which was the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of frustration. As a result, we will be making the turn slow much more subtle in Season 30.
Our intent with Seer, and other ‘counter-movement’ Legends was to give tools to players that can counter the more mobile Legends of the roster. However, it seems like in practice all Legends were getting caught in Seer’s net. We will revisit how we implement these kinds of slows in the future to try and be more targeted towards just the speediest Legends of our cast.

“What does a stock do?” This is the question the weapons team has been answering for the past 7 years. Sure, there is technically a block of text on each and every stock that reads out what it is actually doing to your weapon when you equip it, and let’s be honest, no one is reading that when a team has hot dropped next to you. It’s time to provide way more transparency around what each and every attachment actually does to your weapon when you go to equip it, and how the weapon itself measures up against every other weapon in the game, and we’re doing it in a few different ways.
The lobby has received an update in the form of a new Playground tab under each weapon category. Players can quickly see at a glance a weapon’s stats, as well as how they change with a combination of all available attachment types.
In-game, players will see brand new weapon and attachment loot cards, as well as a new inventory hover state which shows a weapon’s stats and how each attachment affects them.
In implementing these changes, our main goals were to help with the onboarding of Apex’s weapon and attachment systems, to provide more clarity on how weapons work — their strengths and weaknesses — and how attachments affect their ability to perform in combat. Once a player has mastered the weapon and attachment system, they will always have the option to enable Compact UI mode and reduce the amount of information that is being displayed in-game.

What better way to show off our new attachment UI than with some new attachments! Corrupted Attachments have entered the Apex Games.
Corrupted Attachments are powerful items that can be equipped onto your weapons, providing them with some serious stat buffs, at the cost of reducing another. Kiss-Curse, if you will. Only one Corrupted Attachment can be equipped to a weapon at a time.
Why Corrupted Attachments? We wanted to provide a new vector for choice and strategy when it came to picking and defining your weapon loadout. Since attachments were previously a linear upwards stat progression, the choice around your loadout often began and ended with the weapon itself. Now, you are poised with a strategic choice when you locate a Corrupted Attachment: Do I take this for a powerful upside at a cost? Or do I leave it for the next person to come along?
“Cool, Corrupted Attachments, where can I find them in the loot pool?” Short answer: high-tier loot locations. Long answer… Well, let’s talk about what a high-tier loot location really is.
Like we talked about before, Apex Legends is in its 7th year, and we have made many changes to our loot over that time. Loot has been our main carrot at the end of the stick for many of our systems, and thus loot creep has become a real issue. Your looting experience, your power journey, has become quite flat, often with large early game spikes of high tier loot into a pretty substantial flatline.
We want your power journey to feel more consistent over the course of a match, and for those moments when you find a purple mag off drop to feel powerful once again. To accomplish this, we are taking a huge swing at re-balancing our loot pools and loot delivery systems. Next season you will see an overall reduction in the quality of loot that is spawned. The quantity of loot is unchanged. What this means is that where once you could find a plethora of purple and gold tiered items in a normal POI, those have been replaced with white and blues, with the occasional chance at those top-tier purple items. Similarly, a lot of our readily accessible loot delivery systems like loot rollers and Arsenals are seeing a similar change.
“So where are those Corrupted Attachments you were talking about?” Similar to purple items, you will rarely find them in the standard loot pool, with a significantly higher chance of them spawning in our rarer or single use loot delivery systems. For example, hitting up Trials on World’s Edge will yield a much higher chance at getting those purple loot items or Corrupted Attachments. The idea is that while the quality of loot has been reduced across the map, those special loot locations like vaults, Icarus’s Bridge, and certainly care packages, will be your new vector for your best chances at those high tier loot rolls.
There are a ton of updates coming that are under the umbrella of this change, all of which will be covered in detail in the patch notes, but here are a few of the major ones to be on the lookout for:

EXTENDED SUPPLY BINS & WEAPON SUPPLY BINS: Removed
LOOT BIN RESET: Reworked
Last but not least, we have upcoming changes to how Energy Weapons work!
Energy Weapons now come with a regenerating stockpile of ammo. Once players use this ammo, over time, and while the weapon is idle, the ammo will begin to regenerate its supply in the weapon, allowing you to continue the fight without needing to manually loot to replenish.
The goal of this change was to provide another way to think about your weapon loadout choice, and why you are picking one weapon over another. Are you grabbing a Volt because you dropped hot and don’t have time to worry about looting ammo? Or is it because you need those inventory slots to carry extra meds for your teammates?
This rework is not exclusive to the BR; all Energy Weapons across the BR, Mixtape and Wildcard will see this change in effect.
