We hope you are all well and playing games that bring you much joy.
Today we released the long-awaited update 1.6 for Circuit Superstars. It took a long time for a variety of reasons, but we are very happy to finally be able to update the game. To keep this release simple and to mitigate the risk of issues or more delays, we kept the DLC cars out of this update, and we will look to release them within the next couple of months.
At this time, our team is working on a work-for-hire project with a business partner and making some improvements to Karting Superstars when we have time. We don’t have a clear plan yet for what might come next for CS, but we will be sure to communicate it once we do.
We wanted to express our wholehearted gratitude for playing our games. Thanks to your support and our business partnerships, we’ve been able to sustain ourselves through this very difficult year in the games industry. Things are finally looking up and we are very grateful for the opportunity to continue to make innovative and charming racing games for all racing fans out there.
Without further ado, here are the Patch 1.6 Notes:

Free play now has all the options available on Custom Lobbies and no longer has settings hidden in a sub menu.
Changed the wait time for online races, from 60 seconds on both track voting and car select, to 20 seconds each.
Moved the qualifier start further down the track for a shorter warm-up,
Made post race screens longer (1 more second) per community request.
We added the full race standings with a toggle (Tab on keyboard, left bumper on game-pad).
Shortened the re-spawn delay from 1 second to 0.75 second.
Shortened pre-race grid shot from 12 seconds to 9.5.
Changed the wear value adjustments from 25% increments to 5% for more granularity and to help organisers design events more thoroughly.
Local races now have a prompt to continue or save & quit.
Additionally, this shows that Free Play is also getting saved progress, so players can now make custom tournaments that they play through multiple sessions.
Positions gained / lost visible on race standings and tournament standings table.
Best Lap time indicator added to the race results.
All 3 colours of the driver's car are now shown on the race results.
Free roaming camera feature on Replays: We know you've wanted to freely move around the tracks of CS and craft the coolest shots and photos imaginable.
We have a new Custom AI difficulty feature that can make them faster than Superstars, and we also have a new AI modding tool (same as Karting Superstars, available only on the PC Steam version of the game), which you'll be able to use to create your own AI rosters.
Dynamic AI: This is a new system that aims to improve the player experience by adjusting the AI skill in real-time based on how well human players are performing in a race. Depending on the human player's standing on a race, the AI will make an adjustment to either slow down or speed up, increasing the chances that humans will have AI competitors close to them through the race. The system is highly active in lower difficulties where player skill can vary widely in a short amount of time, and it is inactive in the higher difficulties where it is expected that player skill is a lot more stable.

Today we released version 1.5.0 of Circuit Superstars on all platforms. This update includes several features, changes and bug fixes; you’ll find the patch notes below. For those that followed our dev journals on Discord earlier this year, you’ll see that some changes we’ve made are not available in this update yet. Rest assured that those changes will come on our next patch. We've also added the patch notes of the NEXT update below.
In other amazing news, we are releasing the game on Nintendo Switch today! As part of the release on player ranks will be reset. This way, both new and seasoned players will have a chance to test their skills once again as they move through the ranks!
And for other exciting news, today we also released the Top Gear: The Stig Challenge DLC. We had fun crafting this and can’t wait to hear what you think! Check it out now!

Version 1.5.0 Patch Notes (RELEASED JUNE 21st):

New layout: Thunder Point Club
Added support for the Top Gear Stig Challenge DLC
Added a new vehicle class option: "Dynamic". When Dynamic is chosen, human players may choose any vehicle. AI drivers will match the vehicle classes chosen by humans.
Improved handling of analog steering inputs when using car-space controls.
Improved the color picking experience in the Garage.
Increased the number of customization slots on drivers and vehicles from 5 to 10.
Wall riding penalties are now applied when crossing the line even if the wall ride has not yet stopped.
Fixed a bug that could prevent certain online functionality from working.
Added an initial loading bar.
Version 1.6.0 Patch Notes (NEXT UPDATE):

We just released a small patch with the following updates:

Lost GP progress from before August 14 will be merged with your current GP progress.
Return to TT UI after quitting TT should not break the UI anymore
Game won't transition back to TT when attempting to join a server from a reservation
Rank icons should hopefully not break anymore
Callstacks shown in error messages now have a lot of fluff removed
Game no longer will ever run below 800x600 resolution
Penalties are no longer accrued before starting a lap after restarting a lap in TT
A couple typos and scaling issues were fixed in the explanation screens

New Content
Introducing: Tubular Sprint Car
These roaring beasts bring on a whole new challenge for Circuit Superstars drivers. They thrive in their native Poke Bowl but we can’t wait to see what kind of combinations you will have fun with!
New Track: Poke Bowl
Welcome to the Poke Bowl! A sunny destination on the coast of Hawai'i, home of the Tubular Sprint Cars! This incredibly short and fast oval is an addition unlike anything we’ve done before.
New Track: Sunny Side Park
This elegant circuit was designed to be a didactic space, a perfect starter track for new drivers that is sure to deliver stunningly fast races for experienced drivers, as well.
New Features
Player Card
Your player card is now displayed in the Main Menu and during the start of online races. Your card lists your rank across Grand Prix, Online and Weekly Time Trials.
Online Ranked Progression
Compete against others online to earn points and rank up the ladder. There are 20 ranks, leading all the way up to the last rank: Superstar!
This new system will need your feedback and tuning as we prepare to introduce seasons soon. Be sure to let us know what you think!
Time Trial Ranks
These challenges now contribute to a Time Trial Rank, shown on your Player Card. Competing each week adds points to your rank and gives you a new result each week as you compete vs other players worldwide.
Grand Prix Progression Update
We revisited the design of this feature by adding new tournaments, improving the existing ones and adding a ranking system. You earn rank points by completing tournaments in different difficulties.
We also added a new system to unlock tournaments as you progress.
Note: If you have completed the GP mode before, there is a button to reset GP progress under the Extra Settings in the Settings menu.
Saved Tournaments
You can now exit tournaments and your progress will be saved from the last race you completed.
Names Above Cars
Cars now feature player name tags above them, while the active player has an arrow indicating where they are. These can be seen in the podium, gameplay and replays!
This feature can be toggled by default with right bumper / right shift.
Performance optimization
We have made significant performance improvements to our tracks and rendering. Players on lower end machines should experience improved performance.
Graphical improvements to tracks

Lighting reworked as part of the optimization process.
Rennvoort has flowers again.
Most dirt surfaces now receive tire marks.
Improvements to water lighting.
Other Adjustments

Maximum Slipstream distance reduced from 45 to 35.
Maximum Slipstream strength reduced by 15%.
Car collision physics tuned, reduced torque resistance by 17%.
New UI Sound Effects.
Wider camera lens at top speed.
Settings are now accessible in the Pause Menu

We are excited to invite you to an open playtest for owners of Circuit Superstars on Steam this weekend, starting today,Thursday July 14th at 10 AM PDT / 7 PM CEST and ending on Monday, July 18th and 10 AM PDT / 7 PM CEST.
What will we be testing?
We are testing the new progression systems of Time Trial Ranks as well as Online Matchmaking Ranks. You'll be testing these systems on the Summer Patch build, which means you will be able to see names above cars, performance optimizations and other changes.
Here is a breakdown:
New features & Changes

Time Trial Ranks:

Complete weekly Time Trials to earn points.
Points contribute towards your Time Trial rank, updated each time Time Trial presets change.
Matchmaking ranks: Compete against others and climb the ranks!
Names above cars during Gameplay, Replays and Podiums.

This feature can be toggled by default with right bumper / right shift.
Performance optimization:

Playtest Notes:

Matchmaking ranks currently do not affect who you match with.
Time Trial presets will be changed twice daily.
Matchmaking ranking is performed at an accelerated rate for the purposes of the test.
Grand Prix and Free Play are disabled.
How to access the test:

Go to Circuit Superstars in your Library on Steam
Right click and select Properties > Betas
Select july-playtest from the dropdown menu
Go back to your library and ensure that you now see:
Circuit Superstars [july-playtest]
You’re good to go!
Known Issues:

The game is not fully localized - some text is only in English.
Crashes may occur when using Replays feature.
Will we see the whole Summer Patch?
No, we have removed content and features irrelevant to the playtest. Let’s keep some spice for the next update!
