Hi All!
Scorchlands recently hit 100 reviews and I thought that to celebrate this, I'll release a small update for you! It focuses on the feedback from the reviews, adds some neat visuals, and addresses some annoying bugs. More details below!
The big changes
Added new technology "Bird's-eye view" that unlocks the option to move the camera freely, independently of where your character is. The tech is available from the very start of the game.
Once unlocked, the Bird's-eye view is toggled on or off with Tab or the left stick button on gamepads.
Late game has been optimized. You should get approx. 20% more FPS when playing.
Updated Unity from version 2020.3.42 to 6000.0.58 (that was quite a jump).
Visuals
Improved grass visuals across the game.
Trees in grasslands now have varying sizes depending on how deep in the forest they are.
Adjusted the colors of the grasslands biome.
Buildings received decorative shadows at their base.
Ambient occlusion was added to the game.
Desert heat screen distortion effect no longer pixelates the view.
Changed the colony outlines to look more chalk-drawn instead of being a simple gradient.
Bugfixes
Fixed an issue where decorative villagers were not present on farm, gatherer, and mineshaft tile decorations.
Fixed a late-game crash when moving or shrinking colonies that are connected by pipe hubs.
Fixed a crash when moving or shrinking colonies that have buildings with decorative cables connected to the colony.
Reloading the game should help with an issue where land is not claimed after destroying an enemy cluster.
Fixed the "Terra Novum" achievement being unlocked prematurely at the end of the tutorial.

Happy Valentine's Day, colonists! 💌 While we can’t send you chocolates or flowers, we can send you a fresh batch of fixes and improvements, straight from our hearts. 💖
Nothing says true love like a bug-free colony, right? So, we polished things up, removed some unfortunate softlocks, and made sure your lasers of love (or logistics) keep flowing smoothly.
Roses are red, our lasers are too, we fixed some bugs… all just for you! 💘 No more accidental endings, unboosted buildings, or text misadventures. Now go forth and terraform with love!
💘 Changelog – Because We Care 💘
❤️ Fixed a game triggering the victory screen too early after loading the game in the final phases. You should be able to load previous saves without triggering the ending early. ❤️ Fixed an issue with boosters where they were not affecting buildings that were placed after the booster was placed. ❤️ Fixed resource production tooltip showing a bugged-out icon whenever the tooltip opened for the first time after starting the game. ❤️ Fixed player being able to place a charcoal production building in the prologue and softlocking themselves if they reaaally wanted to. ❤️ Fixed 5 instances of text/UI clipping across the game for some languages that had longer text values.
Now, go forth and spread the love of colony-building, lasers, and resource logistics. Thanks for playing Scorchlands, and as always – your feedback is our Valentine. 💝
🔥 May your lasers stay bright, your resources flow smoothly, and your colonies thrive! 🚀💛

Hey, fellow gamers!
Have you ever stumbled upon a game that seems like it was made just for you, but somehow nobody's talking about it?
Yeah, that’s Scorchlands – a cozy, strategic, resource-optimizing dream wrapped up in lasers, hexagons, and adorable bird-folk.
Let’s be real for a second.
Somehow, this little game of ours ended up being really well-loved. And it turns out people really like it – Scorchlands has 95% positive reviews on Steam 👍, and the players who find it tend to get… well, hooked for hours. It’s a unique mix of colony-building, resource logistics, and puzzle-like combat, all without the usual stress of strategy games. If you love tinkering, optimizing, and making the perfect production web, this might just be your next addiction.
But here’s the problem: Not enough people know about it. And that, dear reader, is where you come in.
What makes Scorchlands special?
🦜 Relaxing, but deeply strategic – No timers, no pressure. Just pure optimization bliss. 🔬 Hex-based city-building with real resource logistics – Lasers and mirrors replace conveyor belts, and yes, it gets wild. 🌎 Terraforming & biome placement – Unlock and move entire biomes to shape your perfect colony. 🧩 Combat? More like a puzzle challenge – No base defense, no raids, just tactical positioning and problem-solving. 🛠️ Total freedom in how you build – No storage buildings, no wasted space, just raw efficiency (or chaos, your call). 🤯 No chain-reaction collapses – Mess up your supply chain? Fix it without losing everything. 🔍 Exploration actually matters – Find creative paths around enemies and solve fights before they even start. 💡 Endless tinkering potential – The deeper you go, the more satisfying the logistics get.
To celebrate the amazing players who already love Scorchlands, and to finally let more people discover it, we’re running a big discount event 💰, and yes – the free demo 🎮 is back! Because the best way to know if a game is for you is to just try it.
So, what’s next?
Give the demo a spin. Tell a friend. Or don’t – just optimize your colony in solitude like a true logistics mastermind. Either way, Scorchlands is here, waiting for you to fall into its hexagonal trap of laser-powered perfection.
Get comfy in Scorchlands – manage resources, your way! 💎⚙️ c.u!

Hi Birdfolks! 🐦
We are proud to announce that the full release of Scorchlands is out now! After many months of development in Early Access, with 95% positive reviews on Steam, we’re more than ready for the final launch. You can grab Scorchlands 1.0 version at a great price 5,99$!
We couldn’t have done it without your support! Thank you so much for all the feedback we’ve received from you and for your positive response to our project. We have read it all and 90% of it made its way to the game! We could say that you helped us hatch! 🐣
The demo version has also been updated, so if you’d like to try Scorchlands first and see if it’s a game for you, make sure to download it from our Steam page!
Below you can see our completely NEW trailer celebrating the launch. Enjoy!
If you’re new to Scorchlands, here is what you should know about the key game features:
Hex grid-based city-building – construct various buildings in your colonies. Each structure's productivity depends on neighboring resources and other constructions.
Complex resource management – it’s not only about extracting materials. Scorchlands takes account of logistics – the movement of resources between colonies and combining them in robust processing chains. And yes, we move resources using LASERS!
Terraforming for the greater good – use magic and technology to change the biomes on procedurally generated maps and exploit the new environment to gain its unique resources
Technology designed to give fun – there’s no fun in a sandbox if you don’t have the toys to play with. The technology system in Scorchlands is key for player progression and new discoveries open up new ways to play with the game world
Minimalistic combat system – when you get into a fight, positioning will be the key. Destroy your enemies by surrounding them and placing your forces in optimal locations.
And for the gamers that are regularly checking our updates, we have a reminder about all the new features available now in the final version of the game:
You know that we love Steam bundles! We want to thank all the wonderful devs for collaborating with us. This time we partnered with these amazing games:
No better time than summer to make a trip to the moon! This city builder like no other will test your logical thinking through complex puzzles. Make the most of your production chains. Explore and exploit all of the biomes. Make use of new technologies, set up logistic networks with giant lasers and, most importantly, have fun! You have all the time in the universe, so experiment as much as you want with different mechanics.
Buy Scorchlands and become the greatest birdfolk leader in the universe!
Thank you and have a great time! Ringlab 🐦 and Star Drifters Team 🌟🚀

Hi, Birdfolks! 🐦
We're coming back with a BANG! 💥
⏰ Full Release Date! ⏰
Here is the most important info…
We're going to release Scorchlands on JULY 25th at 19:00 CEST!
👉 Price of the game will be 48 Chinese Yuan / Euro 11,79 / GBP 9,99 / USD 11.99 / PLN 54,99
Mark your calendars, or even better! Draw a little bird there!
Roadmap Cleared
Our Scorchlands Roadmap for the Full Release that we presented during Early Access has been completed!
And now…
What we’ve been working on
Let’s dive into the changes for the release in more detail!
Introducing the endgame
Everything happens for a reason… Now we have implemented the ending of Scorchlands!
To finish the game, you’ll have to complete a challenge related to the Assembly Points… Will you manage to see the fate of the Giwis?
🏆 Achievements! 🏆
We’ve added 30 unique achievements waiting for you to be unlocked! Such as:
Not all of them are THAT easy though, don't worry… You'll have to really get your resources going to unlock everything!
🎮 Controller support 🎮
We were implementing game controller support! With a WHOLE new wheel menu easier to navigate with a gamepad.
But that's not all, we also made…
🌟 Fresh look of our villagers 🌟
👷 Enhanced citybuilding 👷
You’ll be able to build your structures WAY faster.
Also, there will be a possibility of moving buildings from colony to colony.
And exchange them if the radius expands.
New menu dioramas 🖼️
Customizable difficulty
When you start the campaign you can choose the difficulty level.
You can set your resources to be unlimited, turning the game into a sandbox where everything is basically free.
But! You can also make the game more of a challenge. The percentage will show you how much more difficult your gameplay is in comparison to the standard settings. When you clear the game for the first time, it will unlock even higher difficulty settings, which, when maxed, will make it hard even for the most seasoned players.
Full Changelog:

New languages are coming 🐦
We want everyone to have a good experience with playing Scorchlands, that’s why we care about adding translations for our launch.
Currently the game supports: English, Simplified Chinese, French, German, Russian.
Surround your enemies and make them disappear by positioning your units in the most efficient place.
Use strategy! Not only in combat, but also by using pipelines as a way of managing resource logistics. As well as lasers! Combine management of resources between several colonies and think of an appropriate path!
Construct various buildings in your colonies with a hex grid-based city-building! Each structure's productivity depends on neighboring resources and other constructions, so build wisely and get the most resources you possibly can!
Excited for the launch? We just CAN'T wait! We’ll be back soon! 🐦

Hey, Birdfolks! 🐦
A little bird told us that we have some announcements to make! And we are more than happy to share some news with you.
With this update we are introducing a new game mechanic: workforce. And we are sure that you’ll love it!
From now on, each colony will possess a certain amount of workforce! This change will dictate how many buildings your colony can support. Thanks to that, you’ll get some free space, which will help you with the most optimal build. You can build your colony not only faster, but more thoughtful! Also, building neighborhood bonuses is going to be much more impactful! Establishing laser connections is gonna be much easier, too.
By default, a colony starts with 16 workforce and if you’d like to increase it, you can either:
upgrade colony radius
build more Stabilizers
Each population point spent on a colony gives it 8 workforce. That means you can place 8 more buildings!
Any previous saves are compatible with these changes, BUT due to the nature of this update, you might have to do some housekeeping. Buildings over the limit from previous saves won’t be destroyed, but in order to place any new stuff, excess buildings will have to be removed.
So keep that in mind!
But that’s not all!
We changed the balancing of particular buildings and production chains. This way the limiting of the number of buildings won’t stop you from getting the resources that you need!
We know that some of you would like to dive deeper into the changelog, so here is the full list of changes and fixes in this new patch.
Enjoy!
## [Patch 0.3.1] -- 2024-01-15
Changes:
- Colonies become much less prone to having their production thrown off balance whenever a couple of buildings need to be deleted to make some space. - Graphical performance has improved especially at the later stages of the game.
Fixes:
- Fixed the bug that would sometimes delete large chunks of nearby colonies whenever destroying an enemy wave. - Added missing production tree for tier 6. - Changed the word capitalization for errors and tooltips to make them more readable. - Removed "Precision Terraforming" technology as it did not work due the building not being in the game yet. - Added progress bars to some missions in prologue to make things a bit easier to understand.
We truly believe that this update will highly upgrade your gaming experience with Scorchlands! Let us know what you think, we’re always happy to hear your feedback. It's been a while since the last update, but we've been hard at work for the past two months, improving the game, and now we have an exciting new update for you!
Bulblands Biome
Firstly, let us introduce the newest biome! The Bulblands are all about the power of life energy, both revitalizing and dangerous. The main challenge they pose lies in the mysterious bulbs that change shape depending on their surroundings.
Each crop type has a unique planting zone, bringing new diversity to your structures. Additionally, there are two production recipes for each crop type, letting players select their preferred resource generation method!
New Menu
With the new update, you might be pleasantly surprised right from the moment you launch the game. We've prepared a refreshed menu that is now much more intuitive and visually appealing.
Let us know what you think about it!
But that's not all!
Our latest update is packed with more exciting additions and improvements, including 12 new resources, 13 technologies, a brand-new player-controlled unit… Check out the list of changes and fixes:
Changes:
- Improved lighting and atmospheric shading across the game. - Adjusted dialogues present across the fifth tier of progression. - Changed dialogue popup to be more visible and less prone to accidental skipping once started. - Added extra bloom effect to crystals on top of spires. - Updated loading screen art. - Improved angling of transfer lasers at very steep angles. - Slightly improved performance when looking horizontally.
Fixes:
- Fixed creating or moving a biome causing units to despawn. - Fixed rare issues when despawning colonies containing tile claiming buildings. - Fixed automatic pipe despawning when getting inside colony borders. - Fixed Landscaper bug nest not blocking laser beams properly. - Fixed several minor issues related to unit movement. - Fixed player being able to deploy unavailable units with the deploy all button.
Future incoming!
But wait, there's even more! We wouldn't have kept you waiting this long if we didn't come bearing something special!
Introducing the brand-new roadmap! It perfectly illustrates the long journey we've already undertaken, but also highlights the considerable amount of work still ahead before the release. As you can see, exciting things are on the horizon!
Have fun!

How are you doing? We're excited today as we’re bringing you another batch of changes and improvements to enhance your gaming experience in Scorchlands! In the newest update we've focused on refining your gameplay interactions and addressing some reported issues.
Let's dive into the details!
Two main changes
First of all, we understand that navigating through new content can sometimes be challenging. That's why, after unlocking your first alternative recipe, we've introduced a helpful arrow that guides you to the appropriate spot in the UI. No more confusion - just a clear path to your newly acquired recipes.
What’s more, we've reworked how dialogues that are triggered by unlocking new technologies function. Instead of appearing randomly and automatically progressing, we've given you more control over them. Now you can manually initiate the dialogue, progress through it at your own pace, or simply dismiss it with a right click! This change ensures that you're fully engaged with the story and lore whenever you unlock new technologies.
That’s not all!
In addition to these new features, we've also worked diligently to address issues reported by our dedicated players - you. Here's the full list of changes!
[Patch 0.2.3] -- 2023-08-16 Changes:
Added a helpful arrow pointing player to a right UI spot after unlocking a first alternative recipe.
Reworked how dialogues triggered by unlocking a new technology appear. Instead of appearing randomly and automatically progressing, players can now manually play dialogue, click through it manually or dismiss them with a right click.
Fixes:
Fixed Pipe Hubs sometimes not being loaded properly when placed in the area affected by Landscaper Bug Nests.
Fixed errors that sometimes happened whenever deleting multiple of the same biome.
Fixed placing any biome causing all units flying over unwalkable terrain to despawn.
Fixed altar worldspace UI not appearing properly whenever placing altars.
We're confident that this update will truly elevate your gaming experience! Have fun!
In conclusion, a heartfelt “Thank You” goes out to you for your feedback and suggestions. Feel free to contact us on our Discord, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. We’re always happy to talk!
Looking forward to sharing more exciting developments with you soon, Ringlab and Star Drifters 🚀

A fresh update for Scorchlands is officially live! It brings a host of significant fixes and smaller tweaks that are bound to elevate your gameplay experience and delight our beloved Giwis, of course!
One of the main changes is that now trees and grass will sway gracefully in response to the wind! We think that the sight of leaves gently dancing in the breeze adds a touch of realism to our fantastical world. Do you agree? ;)
What’s more, colonies will no longer claim volcanic terrains. Oh, speaking about terrains - they will be automatically claimed once nearby enemy groups are defeated! Now you can conquer with ease!
Curious to know the other details? Here's the full list of changes!
## [Patch 0.2.2] -- 2023-07-26 Changes: - Added wind swaying animation for trees and grass. - Colonies no longer claim volcanic terrain. - Terrain is now claimed automatically after nearby enemy groups are defeated. - Added a global resource view for terraforming ingredients at the top-left part of the screen. - Added an option to quickly undeploy unit by pressing its keybind while holding shift key. - Added a population display when opening the colony management screen. - Changed how technologies like “Extraction Streamlining” or “Better Pickaxes” boost buildings. Now these affect the building itself, not just selected production chains. - Renamed “Points of Interest” fo “Transmutation Crystals”. Fixes: - Fixed player being unable to close colony management screen with right mouse button. - Fixed player being unable to close production tree by clicking escape. - Fixed some building names not being displayed correctly when pointing at certain objects. - Removed unnecessary warning when expanding colonies next to another colony located at a different flying island.
We're sure that the update will enhance your Scorchlands experience! And if you haven't tried the game yet, we invite you to check out the demo version.
In the end, we want to thank you for the feedback and suggestions, so don't hesitate to share them with us on our Discord, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Your input is invaluable, and we're continuously striving to make the game even better.
