The massively expanded 'Turbo Edition' - Super Mega Space Blaster Special Turbo has just launched on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One bringing more ships, upgrades, more modes, more challenges and more space blasting action to the space blaster series. Now that the initial release of the 'Turbo Edition' is over I've had time to fix some issues that players have been asking for. Here is a list of fixes in update 2.01.
Additions:

Added support for more retro gamepads.
Fixes:

When changing the volume slider for 'Voice' in the pause menu the voice no longer says 'Hello' a ridiculous number of times per second.
The leaderboard button images now display the correct button/key depending on the control method and type of gamepad.
The progress percentage is now correctly calculated.
The Cursor is now the correct size when using keyboard and mouse controls in Linux.
Completed challenge messages now display in the game-over screen and on loading screens.
Corrected a number of typo's.
If you have any questions, problems, or feedback about the game just give us a shout. We’d love to hear what you think of the game and will do our best to respond as quickly as possible, providing support if necessary. Also let us know if you had fun playing the game because that really does make our day!

Super Mega Space Blaster Special v2.0 launches and brings loads of new content, read our article about the update and all it's content or keep reading here for a summary.
New Content:

New space blaster (ship) called Nibula+.
Shop to use credits to unlock perks.
Unlockable mini-shop to allow player to use credits to buy big-bombs, shields, and protectors before start of a game.
Unlockable warp-engines to remove lethal screen-edges allowing the player to warp from screen-edge to screen-edge.
Improvements:

Improved splash-screen.
Some textures improved.
Animated saving symbol added.
Fixes:

Fixes to the way player 2 selects their ship.
Fixed player 2's ready button not selecting after cancelling ready.
Fixed certain power-ups giving the wrong power-up on collection.
Most of the content and improvements have come from player feedback. With all this new content it should be possible to get much higher scores. Thanks again to everyone for their support and hope you're enjoying the game.

We've had loads of great reviews recently but before we mention them here's what the new version 1.11 includes:
Improvements:

Improved the loading bar to show a rotating image.
Changed splash screen.
Fixes:

Fixed issue where score was wrongly calculated in 'To The Death' mode.
Fixed issue where 'buy ship' button would always show PlayStation button image. Now it shows correct image for used controller or keyboard/mouse.
Fixed issue where when 'quit? yes/no' dialog box was on screen no button could be selected meaning the player would have to press the back button to go back to the game menu and then quit again.
Fixed issue where controller vibration would not work correctly.
Fixed issue where item crates sometimes showed the wrong image for their contents.
Fixed issue where player 2's third space blaster's (Lunavi) jet trail was set at a distance from the ship's body.

Loads of Great Press in Launch Week Plus Update 1.08 is Out Now!

Launch week went really well. We got loads of great feedback from players and some very positive reviews and articles from the game press. Check out our article about the media attention Super Mega Space Blaster Special has been getting.
We've also released 8 small updates since launch bringing the game's version number up to 1.08. These updates responsed to player feedback, addressed a few issues and added a feature. Read on below to find out what was included in these updates.
New Features:

Left stick (for dual stick controllers) sensitivity calibration slider added to the controls menu.
Improvements:

Added the new logo to the game.
Added achievement check to loading of start menu screen. If something goes wrong during gameplay and an achievement does not register it will when you next go to the start menu.
Fixes:

Fixed issues with some character voices saying the wrong phrase when collecting certain power-ups.
Added sound FXs to the opening and closing of the Story and Leaderboards screens.
Fixed bug where one challenge (challenge 16) was unachievable.
Fixed wrongly labelled achievements.
Fixed some language issues.

Here's a list of how the game has improved from the beta test:
New Features:

Keyboard re-mapper. Bind up to two keys to each in-game action. Save your key-map. Easily restore defaults.
Big-boss in survival mode has a second attack phase.
Improvements:

Players can now unlock any space blaster they have the coins for.
Mines power-up weapon now allow player to fire cannons at same time as dropping mines.
Big-boss in survival mode drops more loot when destroyed.
Big-boss in survival mode drops ammo if player runs out.
Ship stats streamlined to improve gameplay.
Fixes:

Players can now unlock any space blaster they have the coins for.
Mines power-up weapon now allow player to fire cannons at same time as dropping mines.

The Super Mega Space Blaster Special beta was a massive success the game has been broken down and built back stronger. From myself and Bare Knuckle Development a massive thank you to all the testers who took part from our mailing list and in our Discord. The game is so much better because of you. We want to support the game into the future releasing more content as either free updates or free DLC. We also have plans to support more platforms but all of this depends on the popularity of the game on Steam. Ideas for future updates based on the beta include:

A custom ship builder, or some form of space blaster customisation.
Upgrades for space blasters and power-up that cost in-game coins.
Some form of online multiplayer.
More ships, more power-ups and weapons, more game modes.
Ship stats streamlined to improve gameplay.

Improvements:

Boss now drops more coins and items.
Boss now has a warning indicator when off screen.
Boss now has a second attack phase to make it more challenging.
Boss now drops ammo if the player runs out during the boss battle.
Mouse click now starts game from the loading/ready screen.
Fixes:

Mine drop rate has been decreased to prevent the player's ammo running out.
Various typos were corrected.

The latest beta build of Super Mega Space Blaster Special - 0.0.5b - is now live, it fixes a few bugs, upgrades the 'mines' power-up weapon and really streamlines the ships speed/fire rate stats making them easier and more fun to play with.
Improvements:

Speed and fire rates have been changed on each space blaster to make the game more fun based on beta tester feedback.
When using the 'mines' power-up the player now still fires their normal gun(s) whilst also laying mines.
Fixes:

The mouse cursor is now turned off when piloting a space blaster without a turret mounted gun.
Xbox 360 controller right stick is now correctly assigned.
A problem where all text would remain in Spanish (regardless of language settings) on the main menu after first install has be fixed.
Missing simplified Chinese characters have been added to the simplified Chinese in-game font.
Corrected various typos.

The latest beta build of Super Mega Space Blaster Special is now live, fixing issues found by our amazing beta testers. We've also added a new feature as requested by a number of testers; a keyboard remapper.
Improvements:

Keyboard remapper, assign the keys you want with up to two key bindings per action (only for keyboard not controller). Keys can easily be reset to defaults at the click of a button.
Changes to ship stats, speed/acceleration/fire-rate to streamline gameplay.
Fixes:

When using mouse you can now buy multiple ships without leaving the menu.
Player 2's ship names now change correctly with the ship when in coop.
Leaderboard messages are not shown when playing in Steam offline mode.
You can now use the right mouse button to go back in all menus.
Fixed various bugs.
Corrected various typos.

'General' button in 'Options' menu now works with mouse.
'Ship Select' now allows clicking on arrow buttons with mouse (still d-pad left and right with controller)
Added info for '1 & 2 player local coop' or '2 player local competitive' in the game mode select screen.
A few typo's have been addressed.
Improvements:

Players can now unlock any ship they have the credits for and can see the ship's information before unlocking it.
Stats for the ships have been modified to streamline gameplay.
