Antodon Express Steam page is live!
The day has come when Antodon is seeing the light of day! After having a dream about being assaulted by an army of giant ants while I was digging through a field in search of my grandmother's crutches (it's a dream, don't ask), I simply had to make a game with ants. Introducing:

After having a dream about being assaulted by an army of giant ants while I was digging through a field in search of my grandmother's crutches (it's a dream, don't ask), I simply had to make a game with ants.
Introducing: Antodon Express
Antodon Express is basically a game where you use a vehicle to reach various small locations and then explore those locations to get resources to improve the vehicle so you can reach more locations faster and survive being attacked while traveling.
In this case, the vehicle is a minecart, and the locations are caves that may or may not be inhabited by giant ants. In those caves, the ants will be mining gems, and you'll need to solve various simple puzzles to stop them and mine the gems yourself.
These gems let you buy stuff from the Merchant, who is a human(?) inhabiting the mine and who is a scrap hoarder and a mechanic of sorts.
All the while, their super-smart and huge mutant leader is roaming the same tracks, making sure everything is under control, so you've got to deal with that as well. (He is using a minecart because it's faster than going on foot, and he is too massive for the little ant tunnels, obviously.)
Cosmic Horror Undertones
The game will also have cosmic horror undertones in the late stages, as the story centers around an ancient monolith that is the reason you're in the mine and why the ants have mutated. But I won't say much more about that until release.
If we compare to other games, Antodon Express will be a combination of:
- Choo-Choo Charles
- Amnesia: The Bunker
- The minecart section of Resident Evil 4
It won't be a big game by any means, as I'm a solo dev, but I'll do my best to make it a glorious experience worthy of my dream.
