Greetings Wielders!
It’s time to raise our lanterns and shed some light on what we’ve been up to! As we wrote in our last Steam post, we’re multitasking, and right now we’re in that beautiful place in any project where you really start to see the changes taking shape. Except for us, it’s happening all over the place!
This post will mainly be about Songs of Conquest, of course, but there is some news from the swamp that I just have to brag about. And since we’re doing so much, there is no way I can comprehensively tell you everything, so I’m going to pick some favorites and just get to it.
First of all, there is a major update to Songs of Conquest coming soon. Some of you have already been testing it, giving us awesome feedback and helping us make the update as good as it can possibly be. And if you don’t want to wait, you can join in and help us test it too, first step is checking out the properties of Songs of Conquest in your Steam Library.
This should explain just about everything, if not, head on over to our discord, happy to help you out!
One of the bigger things we’re doing is taking another look at our Wielders, giving them new specializations, new starting unit lineups, and generally improving them. For example, Cecilia now adds Front Line Fighter to Footmen and her beloved Shields of Order. But she is far from the only one getting some attention. You can read the whole changelog here if you’re feeling curious and can’t wait until we officially release it.
Could we be any more convincing? Probably not
Work is also steaming ahead on our non-Steam versions. Both Songs of Conquest Mobile for iOS and updates to the Switch builds are well underway, and one of them is right around the corner. There is work being done on Android too, but one thing at a time. Even though this has taken time away from other projects, we want to feel proud of every version of our much-loved game out there, and bringing them all up to speed just feels better in our nerdy little hearts.
And now, for something completely different!
And speaking of other projects, our charming little spinoff, Wielders of the Essence, has grown from the rough little tadpole it once was into a near-finished game. We’ve been playing quite a lot of it around the office lately, and we recently decided it was time to share a new demo. The new version has added difficulties, making sure that you can challenge yourself even after you’ve played through the entire demo. We also reworked the pacing, the spells, and the Wielders; come to think of it, we reworked just about everything.
Your demo progress is also set up to carry over into the full game when it releases, so the town you build now does not have to be rebuilt later. The frogs would probably take that personally.
So we’re launching our updated demo today, and it has never felt better to blast rats in a swamp as a brave frog taking orders from an egg. There is also some new art from our former intern (now colleague), introducing G’roda, your new starting Wielder.

See you in the swamp (or in the Public Test Realm)
