Hey everyone!
I'm thrilled to share some exciting news about the Our Hero! trilogy.
When I first released these three games on Steam, I was already proud of how far they'd come, but deep down I knew they still weren't living up to their full potential. Low resolution, black bars on every side of the screen, performance issues on several maps, no Steam achievements, and no Steam Deck support. It always bothered me.
So I decided to do something about it. For the last time.
What's changing?
Thanks to mkxp-z, an open-source player for RPG Maker XP, VX and Ace, I'm rebuilding the entire trilogy from the ground up into a true Definitive Edition. Here's what's coming:
✅ Steam Achievements (finally!)
✅ Native Windows & Linux builds
✅ Full Steam Deck support
✅ Higher resolution (goodbye black bars!)
✅ Massively improved performance (goodbye lag!)
✅ Brand new professional illustrations
✅ Redesigned characters & animations
✅ Modernized HUDs across all three games
✅ Lighting effects to enhance the atmosphere of every map
✅ New scripts to remove the clunkiest mechanics
✅ Additional language support
What's the current status?
I've been working on this for about two months now, and Our Hero! First is nearly done, currently in final testing and polishing. Our Hero! Two and Our Hero! Omega will follow, though given their complexity I expect those to take a bit longer.
Want to test the Definitive Edition early?
If you're interested in getting early access to the new version and helping me test it before the official release, feel free to reach out! I'm looking for players willing to give feedback and report any issues they find. Just drop me a message and we'll sort it out.
A personal note 💙
I want to be upfront with you: I'm not doing this chasing big sales numbers. The trilogy has always had a small but beloved audience, and honestly, that's okay. I'm doing this because I created these games, I love them, and I want to finally be proud of them, to play them myself and genuinely enjoy them.
I hope you'll enjoy them too.
