Hey Super Animals!
Got a packed announcement for tonight! We've been growing consistently thanks to all of you amazing people spreading the word, and we can't thank you enough for all the support and the kind words about the game! So first up the big news:
Next week, to help our community grow even faster, we're going to be adding a demo version of the game, so everyone who tried it during the free weekend and hasn't made up their mind yet can join back in! And this is going to be a bit of a unique demo:
- Demo players will be able to play with everyone in online matches, and play time won't be limited in the demo at this time, but they won't be able to team up with Steam friends. They'll only be able to match into solos, or duos/squads with fill to get randomly matched onto a team. This will give everyone on the fence a chance to decide whether to jump in now during Early Access, or later as development continues! And demo players will contribute to the overall player base, so it'll help fill up games for everyone :).
- Demo players will see cosmetic items, DNA and Super Serum drop, so they'll start accruing them, but they won't be able to equip them until they unlock the full game (similar to upgrading to a premium battle pass, but in this case it's unlocking the full game, along with everything they've earned so far). In this way, demo players get their progression started as they decide whether to buy, and it'll convert into the full game if they buy!
We're also considering other perks for upgrading to the full game (as well as fair limitations) so that hopefully lots of people still support its development. If you have any ideas that you want to contribute, let us know in the comments or join in the active discussion we've already been having about it in our Discord server!
And in the meantime while we're still working on the demo, we've decided to mix NA/EU at certain times of the day to play on the same server together and boost the amount of players per game. It'll be split half and half, and each region will be playin on its own server at prime evening play time:
NA Server: 3pm - 3am PST (11pm - 11am GMT)
EU Server: 11am - 11pm GMT (3am - 3pm PST)
We'll only be enacting this for the next 1-2 weeks as we continue to grow, to make games fun and fuller in the meantime. Once each region is ready to sustain itself, they'll be split up again. Asia already has a healthy population so it's remaining on its own, and NA/EU are gaining on it, but in the meantime you'll be able to make some new friends from across the pond!
And now without further ado... we've also dropped a pretty big new content update with a bunch of gameplay adjustments and improvements:
v0.83 is Here
And brings with it a whole bunch of new animal breeds, cosmetic items and gameplay enhancements!
New Animal Breeds
- Super Maroon Fox
- Super Pink Fox
- Super Arctic Fox
- Super Yellow Bear
- Super Siamese Cat
- Super Navy Skullcat
- Super Sloth Blues
- Super Mossy Sloth (fun fact from our animator, Erika: sloths move so slowly that they actually grow moss on themselves!)
16 New Items to Unlock
- Russian Dance is here, and you'll unlock it by getting a win before January 5th! After January 5th it'll become a regular item drop with epic rarity.
- Dab emote
- 2 banana shirts and a banana beanie!
- Trench coat (khaki)
- More baseball cap colors and beanie colors
- Military caps
- Captain's hat
- Red mohawk
Gameplay Updates
- Reload cancelling (can be cancelled by rolling or changing weapons)
- Increased movement speed during parachute so you can fly further (10% faster)!
- Epic (purple) rarity added for weapons Along with this change, a few common (base tier) guns had slight decreases to base damage. What this means is the base version will be 2-4% weaker, but the purple version is stronger than the old rare (blue) maximum. - Pistol can be epic - Magnum can be epic - SMG can be epic - Silenced pistol can be epic and legendary (only epic drops in world, and legendary is exclusive to mole crates) - M16 and Minigun now have epic versions, and both epic & legendary still only drop from mole crates
- Uncommon (green) & rare (blue) items will appear a bit more frequent now as there is the new epic rarity
- Boosted the rarity colors for added visibility in all biomes
- All bullet speeds increased by about 6-8%
- Grenades and bananas in packs of 3+ will reflect that visually (check out those bunches of bananas)
- In-game music (eagle flight + end-game) is affected by music slider now rather than sfx slider
- Server lobbies are 180s now, up from 160s
- Fix for grenades not working if you picked up another one while throwing
