Hey everyone!
This update has some great fixes but mainly a new feature called Control Groups. These let you organize your settlers into named groups that can be selected with hotkeys. There's a quick how-to at the bottom of this page after the patch notes. Hope you like the feature. :)
Patch Notes:
-Fixed a bug where settlers could walk through a blueprint that had replaced another floor blueprint.
-I've disabled settler select while placing jobs/room/zones by default. You can re-enable this functionality from the bottom bar lock button when you have one of those menus open.
-Fixed a bug on certain resolutions that caused vertical magenta lines to appear.
-You can now use ESC to deselect a current selection.
-You can now hold SHIFT to add/remove entities to a selection.
-New feature: Control Groups.
-Moved timescale hotkeys to F1, F2, F3, F4.
-Added hotkeys -/= to increase or decrease the timescale.
-The entity tooltip will now show a detail of all the entities currently selected.
-Fixed an issue where settlers wouldn't mate (again...).
-Fixed a bug where the game would unpause if you hit 'go to settler' from the permissions screen.
-Hitting 'go to settler' will now focus the camera immediately on the settler as well as select them.
-Added hotkeys ,/. to iterate over settlers that you control.
Control groups how-to:
Creating a new group -
1. Select some entities you control.
2. Hit the create group UI button or SHIFT+Alpha#. i.e., SHIFT+1 to make a control group for 1.
Adding to a previous group -
1. Select an entity not already in the group.
2. Press SHIFT+Alpha#. This will add to the previously assigned group for that number.
Overwrite a previous group -
1. Select an entity.
2. Press CTRL+Alpha#. This will replace the members of that group with your current selection.
Open control group settings -
1. Right click the control group UI.
Focus a group -
1. Double click the control group hotkey or double mouse-click the group UI.
Things to note:
You can set up auto add functionality (which I will later be using for room assignment stuff). This will make it so new settlers of a set profession will automatically join a group. i.e., Setting all new warriors and archers to join control group 1.
Additionally, you can rename your control group from this control group settings window.
Thanks for all the feedback this last week. Hope these groups help with settler management. And, don't worry, I have lots more to add regarding settler management to make the game easier to use. Just wasn't able to get all that stuff into this patch.
I'll be focusing on more of this type of thing as well as some additional game content for next Friday's patch.
Cheers,
Waylon
