I've created a test build that includes partial controller support. Mostly moving and fighting. Rather than release this immediately I made the test build as adding controller support also required a pretty big updated to the mouse and keyboard movement code.
Right now the system is set up to work with XBox controllers. In this build the controller works as follows:
Left Stick - move forward, backward, strafe left, strafe right
Right Stick - rotate left and right, look up and down
Press Left Stick - sprint
Left and Right Bumpers - roll left or right
Right Trigger - press or hold to attack
Left Trigger - press and hold to block, release to stop blocking
Y - jump
B - perform power attack
X - close UI (works the same as the ESC key)
You cannot do a backwards roll or do the dash attack with the controller yet.
This is a very early implementation so feedback is very much appreciated!
To get the test build:
1. In the Steam Client Library where it lists all of your games, right click on HammerHelm
2. Click Preferences
3. In the window that opens, select the "Betas" Tab
4. Enter the password to download this build - ControllerTest - and click Check Code
5. You should get a message that the code is correct
6. Click the drop-down box and select BigUpdateTest
Steam should immediately start a new download with the test client. The new game should be called "HammerHelm [bigupdatetest]". Once the download is complete you can launch the game.
To get back to the Alpha client:
1. In the Steam Client Library where it lists all of your games, right click on HammerHelm
2. Click Preferences
3. In the window that opens, select the "Betas" Tab
4. Choose “None” from the drop down
5. Steam should then revert back to the Alpha client
