Greetings, fellow Space-knights!
As a direct follow-up to our Overforge update, we are keeping the momentum going with another smaller expansion to the Fabular armory. While the last update focused on upgrading your existing gear, this one is mostly about quality of life additions and bug-fixes.
We also have a new addition: boss-thematic items. We wanted defeating a major boss to feel even more impactful, so we’ve added a way for you to claim their signature powers for your own ship.
Claiming Boss Powers
Every boss now has a chance to drop one of two unique "Thematic" items that mirror their own abilities. This includes gear like Dax’s stunner and wavy missiles, M’urdu’s repeater blaster and explody mines, or the Endkeep’s laser beam and catapult orbs.
Some of these are rebranded versions of existing gear, but all of them are locked at the start of the game. You’ll need to defeat the respective boss and have the item drop for the first time to unlock it. Once unlocked, these items can show up in regular loot chests during any run. To make them stand out, we’ve also given these "Fabular" items a unique icon background in your inventory.
Better Loot Logic
We’ve also tweaked how the game handles luck. Loot drops now use pseudo-random generation instead of being completely random. This means you’re much less likely to see the same item drop twice in a row or get stuck with the same results repeatedly. It should make the variety feel a lot more balanced, but we’d love to hear your feedback on how this changes the "feel" of your runs.
Combat Fixes and Cleanup
On the technical side, we’ve fixed a few issues where the player ship wasn't being properly affected by certain boss attacks. Dax’s stun effect and the Endkeep’s repel effects should now hit the player as intended, so stay on your toes during those fights. We’ve also included a variety of other small fixes and improvements to keep everything running smoothly.
