Hi everyone! This is cheeetz, the person making À Deriva.
The idea started out really simple: I wanted a game that could just sit there, quietly, while I worked. No fullscreen, nothing begging for attention all the time. Just a fisherman at the bottom of the screen casting his line, and me glancing over now and then to see what he caught.
That's what became À Deriva. He fishes on his own. When the bobber sinks, you click at the right moment, sell your catch and keep upgrading the boat. From a canoe to a trawler, starting on the Araguaia and going through the Rio Negro, Lake Furnas and the coast of Santa Catarina, all the way to the sea at Noronha. These are places in Brazil I wanted to bring into the game, each with its own fish, its own sky and its own hidden monster.
There's one part I really love: every now and then a stork flies by with a hat for the fisherman. It can come torn, worn or brand new, and it lands in your Steam inventory. You can keep it, trade it or sell it on the Community Market.
And if the taskbar isn't enough, the game also runs as a wallpaper, behind the icons on your desktop. That mode took a lot of work, and a huge thanks to the friends who tested it with me until it was just right.
I'm also putting together a championship, with hats you can only get as prizes. I'll tell you more about it closer to launch.
If the game caught your eye, please add it to your wishlist. It really helps an indie dev, and you'll know the moment it comes out. And if you want to tell me what you think, share an idea or just say hi, find me here in the discussions. I read everything.
Thanks for making it this far. See you on the river!
