Hello, this is the Project: Azalea development team. Thank you for all the feedback you've kept sending since our last progress update. Below is a summary of what this update includes and what we're planning next.
■ Brought Forward
You can now choose your player color in the lobby. In our last update we listed this as a long-term item, but so many of you asked for it that we moved it up. Colors already taken by other players are marked "In use," and the host can also set colors for AI slots.
We fixed the green team color looking too similar to another player color, and made team colors easier to see on units.
■ Map Rework The map sizes stay the same, but we rearranged what's on them.
We reduced the resources near each starting base and added more neutral resource sites. Expect fiercer fights between factions over resources.
Areas likely to become battlefields now have much more room, so battles feel less cramped.
■ Previously "In Progress"
Rooms running a different game version no longer appear in the room list.
Fixed tooltips getting cut off at the edge of the screen.
Improved unit pathfinding and movement. Units now travel in straighter lines and get stuck on each other less often.
■ Previously "Under Review"
Units now turn more smoothly while moving, and no longer slide after stopping.
Toned down early attacks from Easy AI.
The production and research queues now show the actual icons. Click an icon in the queue to cancel that item.
Without a Beacon Tower, the minimap shows only your allies' vision. Building one reveals the full minimap, and losing it restricts the view again.
■ New Additions & Changes [Controls & Convenience]
Formation movement: units you move as a group now keep their formation.
Ranged units now hold their distance while fighting.
After assigning a control group, press Tab to cycle through the unit types in that group.
Double-tap a control group number to move the camera to that group.
New display options: lock the cursor inside the game window, turn edge scrolling on or off, and adjust edge scrolling speed.
Fixed the chat window not opening in single-player games.
Fixed the portrait slot showing up when nothing was selected.
[Gameplay Rules]
Victory conditions have been revised.
You can no longer see the production or research progress of enemy buildings.
Buildings under repair now stop producing and lose their other basic functions until the repair is finished.
The experience your heroes earn now depends on the type of enemy unit or building. Fighting stronger units and more important buildings earns more. The hero level cap is 8.
[New Units & Heroes]
Righteous Army (Uibyeong): a new unit. They turn invisible while in ambush.
Gwak Jae-u: a new hero who uses a Clone skill. His clones have the same HP as he does, so you can't tell the real one apart by looks.
Heo Jun: now attacks by throwing a rapid volley of acupuncture needles, and has a new skill animation.
■ Still Under Review
Workers can't return the resources they were carrying after they stop working.
Research icons are hard to tell apart.
Consistent building and unit art, and how well it fits the background: we're improving unit shadows so they blend better with the environment.
From your recent feedback, we've also added crop regrowth speed, a market for trading surplus wood for rice, and building walls and gates to our review list.
■ Long-Term Plans Keeping a game going after the host disconnects would require major changes to our network architecture. We've moved it to our long-term plans so we can prepare it carefully. We're also keeping your suggestions about choosing starting positions and adding new factions in mind.
Thanks to your feedback, we've also heard some good news, like "the watchtowers feel much sturdier now" and "workers wander into enemy territory less often." We'll keep sharing our progress with you.
If you run into any problems while playing, please let us know through the in-game report feature. Thank you.
