Hi everyone, this is the Political Life team.
You told us the opening hour was rough: the money ran out before you could do anything about it, some windows felt frozen, and the game did not say what it wanted. This update is about that hour.
Living on nothing was impossible — that was our bug, not your play
Working a full quarter as an outsider could not cover that quarter's living costs for four of the nine backgrounds. The maths never closed.
- Living costs as an outsider: $7,800 → $4,680 a quarter
- Starting funds: $13,000 → $26,000
- All nine backgrounds can now stay in the black by working
- The turn statement warns you in advance when the next quarter costs more than you have
Mid and late game are untouched. Money still gets tight once offices, family and staff pile up.
Windows that looked frozen
- When “Close the quarter” does nothing, the game now tells you why: an unanswered event, an open board, a sequence still playing, or a statement you have not read
- Fixed two cases where an invisible layer could swallow every click after an interrupted prologue card or tutorial step
- The tutorial can no longer wait forever on a step it cannot finish
Help you can turn off
Every help and tutorial window now has “Turn off all help” in the top-right corner. The [?] button stays, so you can call it back whenever you want.
Also
- Traditional Chinese: action points had three different names — now one
- The first briefing explains where money actually comes from: there is no salary before you hold office
Keep the reports coming on the Steam Discussions board. This update came straight from them.
