Happy Friday!
This week’s headline: We showed co-op for the first time on Thursday’s stream, and we’ve already received a lot of great feedback. Head to that stream’s archive to take a look for yourself (twitch.tv/ffigames), or check out the summary below.
Let’s get to it!
Co-Op
The co-op stream on Thursday revealed a few details about the upcoming mode.
First, we’re aiming for a release by the end of the month. We’re going to use co-op’s initial release period to tune and refine cooperative gameplay, putting out balance patches and releasing new features. Here’s a quick run-down of some details about how co-op plays:
Turn order goes as follows: Player one takes an action, Sauron takes an action, then player two takes an action. Like in single-player, turns in a round pass back and forth until all players have passed. If one player passes, the action will move back and forth between the other player and Sauron. If Sauron passes, action will pass between the two players.
Co-op uses a voting system to decide who receives Quest-specific cards like Sting or Mysterious Whistle. If players don’t agree on who should receive the card, the game will randomly grant it to one player.
Sauron’s units have double their starting health in co-op play. This makes them a little more difficult to fight through. We’re not done balancing how units scale up for co-op play.
Sauron gets 6 resources in co-op mode.
Players can take the same Heroes in their Fellowship, but Allies are unique. Sorry folks—no double Erkenbrands allowed. However, if each player each wants to take Aragorn into battle, for example, they can do so.
We’re adjusting how the Fate Meter will work in co-op. Check back next week for more details on that.
Starting Threat is averaged between both players’ Heroes. Furthermore, the Threat meter is shared, so players will experience Threat events at the same time. We’re going to continue balancing Threat in co-op as well, as Threat reduction is quite powerful in the current state.
We’ll continue to look at co-op on future streams—stay tuned for more details!
Card Spoilers
On Tuesday’s stream, we took a look at some in-development cards coming in the next round of Hero Packs. You can watch that stream’s archive for details, but the cards are as follows. Please note that these cards are subject to change before release!
