Update 0.2.86 adds a new red-camp enemy to the Windows Steam demo and brings together the movement and interface fixes made since the last live build. Thank you for the reports and videos.
New red-camp boss: Giant Slime
- Giant Slimes can now lead red camps, alongside Bandit Kings and Giant Rock Golems.
- The Giant Slime has 1,045 health, 27 attack damage and 0 armor.
- Slam damages and slows nearby ground enemies, using its new ground-slam animation.
- Vomit launches the new projectile, dealing 100 magic damage in an area and reducing armor by 5 for 10 seconds. It costs 25 mana and has a 16-second cooldown. Magic resistance applies; repeated hits refresh the armor reduction rather than stacking it.
- Devour traps one eligible ground unit inside the slime. The victim remains visible inside and takes 5 damage per second. Kill the slime to free the unit with its remaining health. Warlords, mounted units, large units, siege units and flying units cannot be devoured.
- A dying Giant Slime splits into four smaller melee slimes, each with 240 health, 10 damage and 0 armor. Each small slime grants 25 XP, subject to the normal camp XP cap, and 3 gold bounty.
- Added new movement, attack, death, selection and vomit audio. Jump and landing cues follow the movement frames, with heavier, deeper movement sounds for the giant. World sounds fade with camera distance.
Movement and multiplayer
- Improved crowd spacing to reduce sudden forward pushes and backward steps after orders and during crowded movement.
- Units keep their walking animation while moving around nearby units.
- Fixed movement losing travel time at path corners on slower PCs.
- Improved guest movement timing after slow frames, reducing the stop-and-surge behavior caused by local frame stalls.
- Previous-match chat and unsent drafts now clear when leaving or starting a new match. Delayed messages from an old match are ignored.
- Improved repair positioning and multiplayer repair orders so workers can repair allied siege units without pushing them around.
Performance remains an active area of work. Please keep sending examples if you still see stuttering or rubber banding.
Camera, shops and menus
- Mouse-wheel zoom can move closer and return to the normal camera distance. It cannot zoom farther out, and resolution choices are capped to the screen.
- Shop tooltips describe items and show their price even when no Warlord is in range. Purchase restrictions appear separately.
- The game version now appears at the bottom right of the main menu and lobby, and stays hidden during gameplay.
- Escape opens and closes the in-game menu without stopping selected workers or cancelling research. Change the Game Menu binding under Options > Hotkeys > Custom > Global.
These shared gameplay changes are also included in the full-game build. This Steam release updates the demo.
