It's been two weeks since Random Mix launched in Early Access, and I wanted to share a few thoughts.
Random Mix is my first game. I honestly didn't expect anyone to try it for weeks or even months. Instead, it has over 100 wishlists, and more people bought it than I expected. Thank you to everyone who joined this journey so early. It means a lot.
I also want to be upfront that AI assistance has helped me move faster. I know many people feel negatively about AI in creative work, and I understand why. I'm not adding things blindly. I review, edit and test everything before it goes into the game.
The game itself doesn't use AI while you play, and it doesn't connect to any AI service. Every song is built on your device by Random Mix's own music engine, which follows music theory rules.
Some areas, like CREATE, may still feel unpolished, and visuals like the dancer characters and the UI will keep getting better. My biggest focus so far has been making sure every play creates a unique song that still sounds good and can be remixed in different ways.
Long term, I want Random Mix to be family friendly, with something for everyone:
- A casual rhythm game you can just pick up and play.
- More arcade modes, and more depth in the ones already there, so there's always a different way to play with music.
- Simple tools that teach real music and production ideas, in case you want to try a real DAW someday but don't want to pay for expensive software or learn one right now.
- More advanced features in CREATE for experienced creators.
- Easy ways for anyone to make unique music, just for fun or to export and use however you like.
I also want Random Mix to become very customizable, so you can shape it into the experience you want.
Thanks again for playing and for being here this early. If you have feedback or ideas, I'd love to hear them in the Steam discussions.
