I've kept quiet working on this for a little longer than I wanted but I realized I needed to get this out sooner than later. You think doing something will be easy and sometimes it is, other times it definitely is not. Everything looks fine on my end so I hope everything is good on yours.
What's New?
You can now enter the anthill when you destroy the 2 radars that surround it.
Added the first anthill interior route "Missile Storage". This area required changing existing ant enemies for more traditional hand-built layouts. Good news is now I can reuse them in the future!
Added the anthill's "Storage Area" where you can pickup all the resources and leave or fight the "boss" and get additional resources or the new radar item if you don't already have it.
Added a radar pickup that can be found in a couple locations or a boss drop. Picking up this item will allow you to detect any enemies, items, pickups, and friends nearby.
Added a new user custom music feature where any .ogg, .wav, or .mp3 you put in the "user_music" folder is randomly played at radios or the car. You can get to this folder or any other user file from the options menu. This also required a new audio bus so you can turn down the game ost and play Wesley Willis or something I don't know.
Added controller support, all player actions and menus should work now.
Expanded the hive and put a new enemy/boss tracking room. I also placed the general in there. I do want to renovate this room in the future.
Changed the options menu to be cleaner and easier to navigate with a controller. I had to change a lot more than I thought.
Enabling/Disabling shadows is now a separate option from potato mode.
Added keyboard/mouse/controller input rebinding.
Added a little water buoyancy explanation in the lab area with a beer case to lure you in.
Added ricochet sfx to bullet impacts.
Added a new random muzzleflash effect so it's not just the one all the time.
Added a new judgement-screen art piece. I'm sorry Bosnia.
Added a Horse Machine Ranch picture in the cabin.
Probably more stuff I forgot about.
Fixes/Adjustments
Fixed the Polpot hat. I confused Polpot with someone else, he was not a cannibal (as far as I know).
Fixed ant riflemen not firing.
Removed geometry you'd never see unless you cheat.
Reduced the polygon count and adjusted the texture on the hedges.
Fixed the tires not disappearing quite right.
Made pickups smaller and more uniform, also removed inner sphere to reduce polygon count.
Probably more stuff I forgot about, again.
Future Plans
Fix more reported issues.
That snow map I want.
Space stuff you can access from the UFO.
Abilities when Sheriff rank and higher.
More optimization.
More "dungeons".
More dialogue.
Alternate hive/hub music.
Maybe move projectile / crosshair emission from the weapon muzzles, I've been playing with it even before launch but it's iffy.
Adjust textures, that includes things like the wood inside the hive and making lava more animated.
More judgement-screen art and art in general.
Native Linux support, it was gonna be this update but it has not good bugs like infinite jumping.
MAYBE a new melee combat system, the parrying suggestion I'm still not sure on but I do think there is room for improvement there.
The chip bag.
If you have any problems or suggestions just type it in the bugs discussion or @ me in the discord. I'll respond as soon as I can find an excuse or something. That white void bug made me paranoid of every update.
