Genesis: Rise of Life — Update 0.3.3
Update 0.3.3 introduces First Instincts, a complete tutorial for the beginning of a new lineage. It also adds five active organelles, three attack branches, two mutations, and new perception upgrades.
New — First Instincts
- A complete tutorial now guides the beginning of a new lineage and introduces the fundamentals of movement, feeding, escape, combat, and evolution. It can be skipped or abandoned; completing it awards 5 DNA and unlocks Coprophage.
New organelles and evolution options
- Ink Jet: disorient pursuers inside a dark cloud released behind your cell.
- Bioelectric Field: briefly stun predators that bite you by maintaining a field powered by your mass.
- Pressure Wave: push cells away in a cone of water without dealing damage.
- Mucilage Gland: slow a cell and halve the knockback it receives.
- Retriever Symbiotes: two symbiotes take turns attacking your last target, share their vision, and can retrieve restorative droppings.
- The new droppings heal according to their freshness. Consuming three unlocks Coprophage, which also lets your cell gain mass from them.
- The Perfect Symbiosis mutation, purchasable after symbiotes deliver 50 final blows, adds a third symbiote.
- The Annular Eye gains Peripheral Retina to reduce blur and Photosensitive Crown to extend perception into the darkness.
Ecosystem and balance
- Regular predators share a single visual identity and progressively develop more varied protection, spines, attacks, and flagella as threat rises.
- At high threat, some wild cells can use Ink Jet, Bioelectric Field, Pressure Wave, or Mucilage Gland.
- Herbivores begin defending themselves later and only when another nearby herbivore is able to help.
- Large scale-2 flowers provide more mass than ribbons and sprouts.
Cell Build menu and display
- A new catalogue lets players search, filter, and inspect organelles without moving the cell away from the centre of the screen, then confirm the purchase with Assimilate.
- Replacements warn that the previous organelle will be lost, and mutation cards display their effects directly.
- Display options now offer Windowed, Borderless Fullscreen, and Fullscreen modes with separately remembered resolutions.
Fixes
- A bite can now consume a resource and damage a living cell at the same time when both are within reach.
- Wild cells can finish eating mature parts of a regrowing plant without waiting for the entire plant to regrow or moving through its body.
Saves
- The update remains compatible with existing saves. They will be offered the tutorial once when next selected.
