Win a Sector, Earn Its Gear
This update comes straight from a playtester's notes: new rewards for beating the belt, clearer screens, and a handful of fixes.
- Win a sector to earn its gear. Every sector now has three pieces of sector gear: slightly better shop items themed on that belt, earned by winning it at Hazard 1, 3 and 5. Win a sector at a high Hazard and every piece below it unlocks at once, and once earned the gear can show up in the Outfitter in every sector. Sector Select shows how much of each belt's gear you have and what wins the next piece. Hazard levels you unlock already count in every sector, and the Hazard screen now says so.
- Retry Wave stands out. When a wave kills you, RETRY WAVE is now the big lit card on the end screen, under "YOUR RUN ISN'T OVER", so it's clear your run can keep going.
- New: FIELD GUIDE. Not sure what Uplink, station systems or Engineering mean? Press View (I on keyboard) or click GUIDE on the Level Up, Station Uplink and Outfitter screens for a quick definition of every term on that screen, including each stat on your level-up cards.
- Health Regen never goes negative. Upgrades that cost Health Regen are only offered when you have the regen to pay for them.
- Fixed: arrows pointing the wrong way. At the start of a wave, a Survey Beacon (or the home marker) to the south could get an arrow pointing the opposite way, out past the edge of the ring. Edge arrows now always point at their target.
- No more unbreakable crystals. The glowing teal crystals on the station's ore island and the south-east rim looked like ore but couldn't be mined, so they're gone and every glowing crystal you see now breaks. Crystal Reach's opening banner now says its crystal clusters arrive at wave 4, and the sector announces them when they do.
- Fixed: cache and distress rewards could hand out relics you hadn't unlocked yet, or an item your build couldn't take while still spending your chunks.
- Your Hazard unlocks are safe. After 50 runs an old win could drop out of your history and lock a Hazard level again. Your career record now keeps it open.
