Hello, everyone!
I'm Exi, the solo developer of Twilight's Wake. I've started working on this project on the 10th of March, 2025, with the sole thought of "Why aren't there more games like Sid Meier's Pirates!?". It was one of the games of my teenage years that really made me love adventure and exploration without holding hands.
The entire game was designed with that thought in mind: let the player decide as many things as possible during his playthrough. With every feature implemented, I tried thinking "what if the player wanted to do something else". Apart from the tutorial mission, you are free to follow the main quest, do random tasks, trade between ports or just live as a pirate and plunder as many transports as possible.
The decisions come with a reputation and renown system.
Reputation is how different factions view you. Factions won't take it lightly when you attack their ships and may even close the ports and send out hunters for you. On the other hand, running errands for them, delivering critical supplies, and generally being friendly with a faction will open up discounts, privateers, and even access to buy their warships.
On bad terms with one faction but like their ships? Outfit your ship with extra crew, shrapnel shells and harpoons, and take a shot at capturing whatever ship you desire.
Renown is how the world perceives you in general. Are you a valiant captain? The simple people of the Archipelago will trust you with various tasks, the patrols will not bother searching your ship for illegal cargo, and various other effects. But maybe you are a dreaded pirate! Even with good faction standing, patrols won't trust your word, but pirate ships will steer clear of you and pirate ports will welcome you.
So when deciding to sink that surrendering ship or save that transport that is attacked by pirates, the world will shift its view of you.
Want me to cover a feature you've noticed in the trailer? Let me know!
Last but not least, don't forget to drop a wishlist and/or a follow, it helps out in more ways than you can think. Thank you for your support!
