Era of Tribes Dev Diary #1 – Languages & UI Improvements
Hello everyone, and welcome to the very first Era of Tribes Dev Diary!
With these Dev Diaries, we want to give you a closer look at the development of Era of Tribes, show what has changed behind the scenes and talk about some of the systems and improvements we are currently working on.
For our first Dev Diary, we are taking a look at two areas that have received quite a bit of attention recently: localization and the user interface.
Era of Tribes in Multiple Languages
One of the larger changes behind the scenes has been the expansion of our localization system.
From the current stage of development onward, Era of Tribes is available in all languages currently supported by the game.
The currently supported languages are:
English
German
French
Italian
Spanish – Spain
Dutch
Greek
Russian
Simplified Chinese
Turkish

This does not only apply to a few menus. Our goal is for the complete playable experience to use the selected language, including menus, settings, multiplayer interfaces, tribe selection, notifications and other information throughout the game.
Localization this early in development also gives us an important advantage. As new systems are introduced, their texts can be integrated directly into the localization system instead of requiring the entire game to be translated shortly before release.
Of course, development is still ongoing. New text will continue to be added and existing translations may be adjusted or improved as development continues.
Improving the User Interface
Localization was not the only area that received attention.
We have also been working on improving the Era of Tribes user interface.
As development progresses and more systems are added to the game, it becomes increasingly important that the interface remains clear and consistent.
Several UI elements have therefore been revised to create a more unified visual style throughout the game.
Buttons, panels, text elements and menus are gradually being improved so that important information is easier to recognize and different parts of the game feel like they belong to the same interface.
The goal is not simply to make the UI look better. It should also make Era of Tribes easier to read, easier to navigate and easier to understand.
A More Consistent Design
Another important part of the UI improvements is consistency.
Instead of different menus using completely different layouts and styles, we are establishing a common design language that can be reused throughout the game.
This includes areas such as:
Main menus
Game settings
Multiplayer menus
Lobby interfaces
Tribe selection
Information panels
Buttons and navigation elements
Notifications and status information
This also helps us with future development. New interfaces can be built using the same visual rules and components instead of having to design every menu completely from scratch.
Building the Foundations
Localization and UI improvements may not be as immediately visible as an entirely new gameplay mechanic, but they are important foundations for the continued development of Era of Tribes.
Every new feature brings additional menus, descriptions, notifications and information that players need to interact with. Establishing these systems early allows us to build future features on a stronger foundation.
There is still plenty of work ahead. The user interface will continue to evolve, and localization will continue to receive additions, corrections and improvements as new content is introduced.
For now, however, we are very happy to have reached the point where Era of Tribes is available in all of its currently supported languages.
And this is only one part of what has been happening behind the scenes.
We'll have more to show in future Dev Diaries.
Thank you for following the development of Era of Tribes.
See you in the next Dev Diary!
