Down on the taskbar
Cozy Coast was always meant to sit beside your work. This update lets it get even smaller: your angler can now stand on the edge of your taskbar and fish there while you get on with your day.
Mini mode
- A new button in the top bar folds the whole game down to your angler, standing on the top edge of your taskbar with the line hanging over it.
- Nothing stops: the rod keeps fishing and earning exactly what it earns in the widget. Every fish you land plays a little bite and reel, and the catch flies up over your angler's head.
- Hover your angler for a small card with your last catch and the water you are fishing, a button to switch zones, and one to expand back to the full widget.
- Clicks pass straight through to whatever is underneath, except on the angler and the card.
- Drag your angler anywhere on the screen. Mini mode remembers the spot next time.
- Settings > General lets your angler face left or right.
- Hosting a hub, or visiting one? Everyone else in the room stands in a row behind your angler, each in their own outfit with their own line, and reels in their big catches right there on your taskbar.
The Haunted Bobber
- The Lantern Keeper's aura is now three little bats circling you, passing in front of you and behind you as they go.
- Friends can see your aura now, whichever one you wear: in the village, at the dock and inside the market.
Friends
- Big catches, yours and your friends', now show as a short line above the day and level bars that fades on its own, instead of taking over the wooden board.
- When a Steam friend starts playing Cozy Coast, a line lets you know they are down at the water.
- In the hub's invite list, friends who are playing Cozy Coast right now are highlighted in green.
Also
- Settings > System has an optional frame rate cap (60, 30 or 15; off by default), so the widget can sit behind your work more lightly. Fishing earns the same at every setting.
- Beach chest candy now tapers off through the day and tops out at 4,000 a day, about one outfit from the Haunt stall. The first 1,500 pays in full, then half, then a quarter, then a little. Fully maxed chest setups left open all day were clearing the whole stall in a single day. Candy you already have is untouched.
- Haunted chests, wisps, the seance and seasonal fish pay exactly what they did.
Fixes
- Quitting a contest when you were the only one in it left the banner up and the board locked until the minute ran out. It now ends straight away, and quitting a contest others are still playing hands you back the board.
- After stepping out of the market and walking off, a later trip to the village could put you back at the market door. You arrive at the pier again.
Full notes, and everything that came before, are in the Changelog tab in Settings.
