It's been a while.
This is a big one. The demo has changed quite a bit since the last version.
For now, No Man's Mines is focused on survival crafting on Verdara, the first planet in the game. You crash-land with nothing and spend your time digging, gathering, building, fighting and surviving on foot.
The ship, space travel, warp, pirates and ship modules are not part of the demo right now, but they're still part of the bigger plan.
Later on, you'll be able to build your own ship piece by piece, walk around inside it, travel between planets and eventually explore larger star systems. Space combat will come back too.
I wanted to build a much stronger survival foundation first before expanding back out into space.
Thanks to everyone who played the old demo and sent feedback. A lot of this update came from that.
SURVIVAL & CRAFTING
* You now start with nothing. Pick up sticks and stones, craft your first tools and work your way up from there.
* Added a tech tree for unlocking tools, building pieces and crafting stations.
* Added the workbench, furnace and campfire.
* Smelt copper, craft better gear and cook your food.
* Tools now wear out and break.
* Added hunger and thirst.
* You can drink from lakes and heal while resting near a fire.
* Added bedrolls for setting your respawn point.
* Your items stay where you died, so you'll need to go back for them.
DIGGING & MINING
* Added a shovel that lets you dig directly into the planet.
* You can make pits, tunnels and caves almost anywhere.
* Copper and iron can be found underground, with some deposits also appearing on the surface.
* Mining now has weak points. Hit where cracks cross to break rock faster.
* Added many surface vegitation along with woodcutting
BASE BUILDING
* Added wood and stone building pieces.
* Floors, walls, ramps, roofs and doors snap together.

* Enemies can circle around you, back off and react to missed attacks.

* Camps have guards, archers and loot chests to raid.
* Added raid nights. Every few nights, enemies come for your base.
* Raid frequency can be changed when creating a world.
PROGRESSION
* Added character levels.
* Added five skills: woodcutting, mining, sneaking, archery and blade.
* Skills level up as you use them and unlock perks along the way.
* Added a short tutorial quest line.
* The demo currently goes up to level 5.

OTHER CHANGES
* Added a character creator.

* Added multiple world saves, each with its own character.
* Completely redid the UI in a new style that fits the game better.
* Added a compass.
* Added a day and night cycle.
* The main menu now shows a live view of the planet.
* Added a lot of new sounds, including footsteps, creatures and campfires.
* A large part of the game was rewritten, along with a lot of fixes and smaller changes.
Old v0.3 saves will not work properly with this update, so I recommend starting a new world.
If you find a bug or have feedback, let me know in the Steam discussions. It genuinely helps.
See you in the mines!
