The Bus DLC – Lübeck – FAQ

Last updated: September 16, 2026

1. Vehicles

Will a bus be included in the The Bus DLC – Lübeck?
As is customary for map DLCs for The Bus, no bus will be included with the The Bus DLC – Lübeck. Vehicles are available separately.

Will the DLC include repaints based on real vehicles?
We plan to include suitable repaints inspired by real vehicles operating in Lübeck.

Will there be buses specifically suited for Lübeck available as separate DLCs?
A separate vehicle DLC featuring bus models suitable for use on the Lübeck routes is already planned. Further information will follow at a later date.

2. Routes and Scope

Which routes are included in the DLC?
At launch, the two beach routes 30 and 40 will be included. They run from Lübeck ZOB and the main railway station through the historic old town and onward to the Baltic Sea coast in Travemünde.

Will the included routes be fully implemented, and are additional routes or extensions planned for later?
Route 30 will be implemented in its entirety. In real-world service, Route 40 continues beyond Travemünde to Scharbeutz. In the DLC, however, it ends at Travemünde Strandbahnhof, where there are suitable opportunities for turning around and taking breaks between services.

At this time, it has not yet been decided which additional routes or sections may be added at a later date.

How large is the drivable road network?
Both Route 30 and Route 40 cover more than 20 kilometers each. Around 50 stops along the routes will be recreated based on their real-world counterparts.

Will special traffic situations, such as express bus sections or narrow streets in the old town, be represented?
The variety of different route sections is one of the DLC's key features.

In Lübeck's old town, the routes pass through narrow streets and one-way roads. On the express bus section between the city center and Kücknitz, speeds of up to 100 km/h are possible. The Herren Tunnel, including its toll station, will also be recreated.

Will the Priwall ferry and the surrounding area be included?
The area around the Priwall ferry is part of the Travemünde section. The ferry itself and its operations will also be represented.

However, buses cannot use the Priwall ferry.

Another special feature is the large ferries that pass close to the bus route in Travemünde. Their arrivals and departures in the port area will also be represented and can be observed from the route while driving.

Which landmarks and well-known locations will be included?
Numerous well-known locations and landmarks from Lübeck and Travemünde will be recreated along the routes. These include the Holsten Gate, St. Mary's Church, the Burgtor, and the Heiligengeist Hospital.

Other notable areas include the Herren Tunnel, the harbor facilities, and the Skandinavienkai. In Travemünde, the route includes the beach promenade, the Priwall ferry, and the historic Strandbahnhof.

Which period or year does the DLC represent?
The Bus DLC – Lübeck represents Lübeck and the routes of Lines 30 and 40 as they are in autumn 2026.

3. Economy Mode and Depots

Will Economy Mode be supported?
The The Bus DLC – Lübeck supports The Bus's Economy Mode. This means the included routes can also be operated as part of your own bus company.

Will there be a real depot or one specifically created for Economy Mode?
The DLC will include both a real-world depot and a depot specifically created for Economy Mode.

The depot at Gneversdorfer Weg in Travemünde will be recreated based on its real-world counterpart. Due to its size, however, it is not suitable for the requirements of Economy Mode.

For Economy Mode, an additional fictional depot will therefore be created near the route. It will provide enough space to build and expand your own bus company, allowing you to accommodate a growing fleet.

4. AI Traffic and Audio

Will there be region-specific AI traffic, such as vehicles from Lübeck's public transport system?
Yes, region-specific AI vehicles are planned. These could include vehicles such as municipal waste collection trucks. Which other vehicles will be created specifically for Lübeck will be decided during further development.

Will original stop announcements be included?
It has not yet been finalized which stop announcements will be used in The Bus DLC – Lübeck.

Further information will follow at a later date.

5. Release and Consoles

When will The Bus DLC – Lübeck be released?
There is currently no specific release date. Development is underway, but it will still take several months before we can provide a more accurate estimate of the potential release window.

We will inform you as soon as there is news to share.

Will the DLC also be released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S?
A release of The Bus DLC – Lübeck for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is firmly planned.

Is a console release shortly after the PC version planned?
The console version is intended to follow much more quickly this time.

The Bus DLC – Hamburg City was originally released during The Bus's Early Access phase on PC. After the full version was released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, fundamental technical groundwork first had to be completed before the Hamburg DLC could be brought to consoles.

This groundwork has now been completed and will also benefit future DLCs. As a result, we expect the console version of The Bus DLC – Lübeck to be implemented significantly faster.

6. Further Development and Information

Will there also be a developer diary for Lübeck?
The developer diary for The Bus DLC – Lübeck has already started and will be regularly updated with new entries.

In addition to highlighting well-known landmarks and special locations along the routes, we will also give you insights into the development of the DLC and showcase unique aspects involved in bringing Lübeck and Travemünde to The Bus.

Will the DLC continue to receive updates after release?
The Bus DLC – Lübeck will continue to be developed after release and will receive free updates.

We will announce which additional content and expansions will be added as development continues at a later date.
