Hello everyone,
today we want to give you a first look at another feature we are currently working on for the multiplayer of The Bus: the new radio system, also called Intercom.
With this system, we want to expand communication between drivers in multiplayer. Players will be able to call either all buses nearby or a specific bus directly. This should create more direct interaction between drivers in multiplayer without replacing the existing voice chat completely.
The feature is based on the already existing voice chat and expands it with an integration through the ATRON board computer of the buses. For the setup, we are trying to stay as close as possible to the real radio communication system used by ATRON and BVG.
How it works
First, the driver selects the type of radio call they want to start in the ATRON board computer. This can be done either through one of the colored Intercom buttons in the bottom left or through the direct call menu.
After that, a call request is sent to the selected target buses. Depending on the selected option, the radio call can be sent to buses nearby or directly to a specific bus.
When another bus receives the request, the driver can either accept or decline the call. If the call is accepted, a voice connection is established between the two drivers until the call is ended.
Current development status
The Intercom system is still in development and is currently planned for Update 1.2. Since we are still working on the feature, individual details may change before release.
We will share more insights into upcoming content and ongoing work on The Bus in the coming weeks.
