Mitts 0.1.3113
Headlined by a fix for defenders who couldn't react to a moving attacker, a clock bug causing stutter and correction snaps on 60Hz displays, a real own-goal bug in goalie stick physics, and a goalie hole on close-range post-lane shots.
⚠️ Fixed: visible online corrections and stutter on 60Hz displays
- Fixed a clock bug that could drop your own inputs and cause visible correction snaps online, worst on a standard 60Hz/vsync display — two physics updates could land on the same internal timestamp and get treated as duplicates, silently losing one. This could also keep the input-lag-reduction system pinned at its highest setting even on a clean connection, on top of the fix already shipped for that in the previous patch.
🥅 Goalies
- Fixed the goalie's own stick occasionally deflecting a shot into his own net — his stick blade had no proper angle relative to the shaft, so in the butterfly it could face almost straight down and knock an in-tight shot off the underside and into the net instead of stopping it. Measured as high as 8 own-goals in 72 in-tight test shots; effectively eliminated now.
- Fixed the goalie "forgetting" he'd just been beaten wide the instant the shooter released — he could snap back to blocking the shot as if he'd never lost the lateral battle, turning a should-be goal into an impossible recovery save. Also fixed him getting stuck recovering from a post-to-post slide for up to 1.2 seconds after making the save, when it should take under half a second.
- Goalies now judge whether to drop into the butterfly or stay standing based on his own actual size instead of one flat number for every goalie — makes him noticeably better at stopping a clean shot he's set for, and a bit more beatable if you move him laterally first before shooting.
- Goalies now read a shot better the more "set" he already is, on a sliding scale, instead of an all-or-nothing cutoff that gave him either full credit or none for the tiniest difference in how squared-up he was — helps him most on quick in-tight releases.
- Fixed goalies playing too far off the post on a close, in-tight drive down the wing — he retreated using a positioning meant for a completely different situation (tracking the puck behind his own net), which left a real short-side hole on a driving shot from in close. He now holds a tighter, more correct position on a straight rush, with no change to how he plays shots from the middle of the ice.
⛸️ Bot defense
- Fixed defenders tracking a fixed spot on the ice instead of the attacker carrying the puck — anyone starting a rush from distance could blow right past a defender who was still guarding empty ice, effectively beaten before the play even developed. Defenders now track the puck carrier's actual movement; internally measured time spent correctly positioned jumped from 17% to 84%.
- Fixed a puck-pressuring defenseman being skated backward all the way into his own net just by being driven at — he now closes the gap instead of retreating indefinitely.
- Fixed defenders in your own zone briefly losing track of who they were covering on every pass, shot, or rebound.
- 5v5 only: fixed multiple defenders often covering the same attacker while someone else went unguarded — coverage now spreads properly across the zone.
- 5v5 only: fixed a spare defender doing nothing useful while your team had the puck — he now supports the attack instead of holding a defensive job he could never act on.
- The defender pressuring the puck carrier now angles him away from the middle of the ice instead of conceding the middle for free, and gives less room the deeper the play gets into your zone.
- Fixed the forechecker holding a standoff distance he could never actually close from — he now genuinely pressures the puck carrier in the offensive zone instead of hanging back out of range.
- Fixed both defensemen aggressively pinching in deep to the top of the circles on every forecheck instead of holding the blue line — they now defend from where they're supposed to.
- Fixed defenders on a rush playing a tighter gap on the puck carrier than intended, which was letting attackers get closer than they should before a defender engaged.
⛸️ Bot puck handling
- Fixed bots' sticks visibly still swinging into position just as a pass arrived — the game was predicting where a receiving bot was already standing instead of where he'd actually be by the time the puck got there, so on a normal pass to a bot skating through the lane, the catch point was wrong for most of the pass's flight and only corrected itself at the last instant.
- Fixed carriers dropping into a defensive, puck-shielding posture against a defender who wasn't actually close enough to reach the puck — they now only shield when a stick can genuinely get to it.
- Bots no longer dump the puck away when they have a clean lane to carry it in — an unopposed bot on open ice, even standing still with a wide-open path to the net, could choose to chip it away instead of skating it in. Dumping is now a real last resort, the way it's actually played, instead of competing on equal footing with carrying the puck yourself.
🎨 Presentation
- New: goalies now kick up pad-slam bursts dropping into the butterfly and plow spray sliding post to post.
- New: a hard acceleration push now kicks ice chips off the loaded skate blade, not just braking.
- New: the crowd pops camera flashbulbs after a goal or at the end of a period.
Compatibility
- No protocol changes this patch — older and newer clients can still play together, but everyone should still update for the fixes above.
