Hey folks!
This patch adjusts the game in various ways, including some of the feedback that has been piling up.
My first priority with the previous patches has always been to react to bug reports as swiftly as possible, and now that the reports are dying down, I am switching to integrating more improvements to existing features, changing certain things according to feedback echoed by people, and doing optimization passes on existing features.
ADDITIONS
- added "Restart now" button when changing the game language
CHANGES
- goons, when shot while climbing, will now trip and fall at the end of their climb
- money pickups the player has already been close to will now be highlighted more often
- the dialogue history box is now positioned within the dialogue box itself, the dialogue box has been reduced in size, and the font of the spoken dialogue depends on the size of the text, so that large amounts of text can still fit in the reduced-size dialogue box
- improved visuals on the action progress circle fill and improved its CPU performance
- improved depth-aware lighting - further reduction of halos around objects from light sources
- improved the GPU evaluation methodology for the options menu
- improved the HDR pipeline - better bloom, exposure, and tonemapping at lower cost
- updated the look of various main menu elements
- armor can no longer be dropped while the weapon is busy (reloading/firing)
- reduced visible color banding in dark areas
- lamps and light flashes no longer seem like they're dark
OPTIMIZATIONS
- optimized bounce lighting and RTGI on the CPU side
- optimized various parts of the UI
- optimized the final screen composite stage on the GPU side
- reduced amount of draw calls in the GUI system
- various other minor optimizations, which focus on eliminating stutters mid-game
FIXES
- climbing over a wall while preparing to throw a grenade will now cancel the throw
- fixed a memory leak related to rebuilding walls once they'd be broken
- fixed a reset-to-last-save not recalculating the player's bush movement speed influence
- fixed the climb evaluation not being cleared when entering a state that can't climb - fixes an issue where the player could teleport to a climb location when following a certain pattern of actions
- fixed a crash that occurred when the equipped weapon would be removed from the player's inventory, while the inventory screen was open
- fixed a mismatch in the noise and mobility levels between the loadout menu and the pause menu or inventory screen
- fixed goons not blindfiring into smoke if the player is obscured by it
- fixed resetting to last save leaving the previously-headshot-aimed goon outlined
- fixed being able to duplicate taser mines and noisemakers
- fixed oil spilled from oil barrels not catching fire if there was an active source right where the oil spilled to
- fixed being able to duplicate throwable items by going prone mid-throw
Thanks for reading, hope you're enjoying the game!
