Your word is now a thing the game tracks. Beyond that: the trade builder stops lying to you, next season's schedule lands in spring, and how you use your running back is finally a decision with a bill attached. Nearly all of this came from your F9 reports and playtest saves — keep them coming.
🤝 YOUR WORD IS A CONTRACT
========================================
Unhappy players used to ask for things and you'd say yes for free. Not anymore.
• Promise him a start, a bigger role, a trade, or a new deal — and the game writes it down with a deadline. A ◈ appears next to his name on the roster and depth chart until you settle it.
• Follow through and it lands the moment you do it — not when the clock runs out. Put him in the lineup, ship him, pay him, and he knows.
• Break one and he doesn't forget. The drag hits, then he comes to your office — and those branches carry real teeth: holdouts, trade demands.
• No option is free anymore. Every branch costs focus, carries a downside, needs a coach, or puts your word on the line. We audited all 121 of them: 11 were flatly costless, 3 events shipped identical twins, and one option did nothing at all. Now: zero.
• Outcomes are visible. A quarter of all event results used to report "no change" while quietly moving your player's development, morale, or health. 67 of those were lies. They now say what happened.
💼 THE TRADE TABLE TELLS YOU THE TRUTH
========================================
• Blockers show BEFORE you send, not after the AI says yes. Cap, roster limits, ownership — with a plain-language reason on the greyed-out Submit button.
• "Roster after" for both sides. It never existed. Now you can see what the deal actually leaves you with.
• Patience is a visible meter — Patience: ●●●○○ · 3 more offers before he walks. It persists in your save and it recovers, so a burned GM comes back guarded instead of gone forever.
• He no longer "walks away" while you're still building. That was a preview rendered in the same words as the real thing. Assembling has always been free — now it reads that way.
• Counters come back signable. The AI can now give up less, not just ask for more, and it searches for a package it would genuinely sign.
• Week-1 fleecing is closed. On opening day nobody had played a game, so scouting fog was at its widest — you could shop one player to all 31 rivals and take the single luckiest misread. Half of every roster was fleeceable for a 50%+ overpay. It's 3% now, same as any other week.
📅 SCHEDULE RELEASE
========================================
• Next season's slate drops in spring. All 17 games, your bye, and where you sit on strength of schedule — "7th-toughest slate in the league."
• Every game carries its line, frozen at release. Come December you can see you were underdogs in a game you won.
• Around the League got a real scoreboard — horizontal cards, linescores, and a star performer for each side.
🏈 YOUR BACKFIELD IS A DECISION
========================================
• Bell Cow — one back takes ~85% of the work. Feed him and he can chase a rushing title.
• Primary & Backup — the default: a lead back with a real change-of-pace behind him.
• Committee — nobody clears ~55%.
• And the bill is charged, not implied. A back carrying a bell-cow load gets hurt more often during the season, and a career of that workload ages him faster than his birthday says. Riding one man wins you years and costs you the ones after.
• His archetype still sets the ceiling — a speed back leads a committee no matter how good he is.
🧠 FOOTBALL THAT ADAPTS
========================================
• Quarterbacks run now. Sneaks on 3rd-and-1, designed keepers, end-arounds to the burner, fullback dives. Every short-yardage carry used to go to the tailback — league-wide, forever. Check the play-by-play; it names them.
• Starters rest in blowouts. Up four scores in the fourth, your stars come off — like they would.
• Defenses key on what you've ACTUALLY been running, not a stat sheet. Six games of film, all downs. Lean run and the box loads up; that's when the play-action is there.
• The invisible throttles are gone. Elite seasons used to get quietly capped around week 14 for reasons you couldn't see. Three of the four are deleted outright and the last one only answers a season that would shatter the record book. An MVP run is yours to finish.
🧭 FIXES
========================================
• No owner firing before week 6. An 0-1 start was being scored like an 0-17 season — people were getting fired in week 1.
• AI teams can no longer field zero quarterbacks. A franchise went three straight seasons without one and every guard missed it, because the "biggest needs" model literally could not see a position it had nobody in.
• Trade your way OUT of cap trouble. Offseason deals were blocked for ending negative — the exact move that fixes the problem. Compliance is owed at Start New Year, and only there.
• Needs displays finally show an empty position. If you have no centers, the game says so.
• Tactics screens stopped contradicting the sim: who-thrives names real players, the dial evidence line reads your actual third downs, and Film Study shows the opponent's identity.
🗺 WHAT'S NEXT
========================================
A free public demo in late September — one full season, all five scenario starts — then Steam Next Fest, October 19–26, and v1.0 on November 10. This build is live on the playtest now. F9 steers what we fix first.
