Hello Bastards;
This update focuses heavily on quality-of-life improvements, progression balance, navigation, and fixes based directly on player feedback.
Save & Quit
Exit game with "Save & Quit"
We’ve added a new Save & Quit system for players who need to leave the game while exploring deep space.
You can now create a temporary save while away from a station and continue your flight later. This is a one-use resume save: once successfully loaded, it is consumed.
Permanent saves still belong to the Insurance system, so the risk/reward of long exploration runs remains intact.
Use Resume Space Flight to continue where you left off. The suspend save will then be disabled. For a permanent save, dock at a station or use a Relay Satellite.
Nearby combat is also preserved in Save & Quit saves, so it cannot be used to escape pirates or other dangerous situations.
Relay Satellites
You can save your game at Relay Satellites found throughout space. They make long exploration journeys much easier.
Relay Satellites can now be discovered while exploring space and used as remote Insurance save points.
Uploading an Insurance record requires ore, which is converted into uplink energy. Different ores provide different amounts of energy, and the required amount scales with progression and distance.
Load some ore into the satellite to power its data transfer. Once its energy reaches 100%, the SAVE button will become available.
Relay charging can be done gradually, and the satellite remembers previously uploaded energy.
We’ve also added new Relay Satellite map icons, discovery behavior, interface elements, transmission effects, sounds, and CODEX information.
Skill Respec
You can now respec your Skill Tree.
Respec refunds all Skill Points spent on purchased ranks without affecting your Pilot Level or XP.
Respec is deliberately not free. It requires:
5 eligible rare crystals
A credit fee that scales with your current progression
The crystal requirement only uses materials that are actually obtainable within your reached progression, so you will never be asked for a resource from sectors you have not yet reached.
Prototype Weapon Test Mission Fixes
Several issues with Prototype Weapon Test missions have been fixed.
In some cases, prototype projectiles could fail to correctly identify themselves as belonging to the active mission, causing mission targets to receive no damage. The identification and damage-validation system has been made more robust.
Mission-specific test asteroids are now also protected from unrelated damage. Pirates, ordinary weapons, mining weapons, and crossfire can no longer accidentally destroy a test asteroid and leave the mission permanently stuck at something like 6/7 targets destroyed.
If your ship has no empty turret slot for the prototype weapon, the disabled Accept Job button will now explain why. You can free a turret slot and then accept the contract.
Faster Local Scanner Navigation
Local Scanner navigation now has a new shortcut.
Select a discovered location on the Local Scanner, or create a waypoint using SHIFT + Left Click, then press the Middle Mouse Button.
If you have enough ore fuel for the entire journey, the route will automatically be prepared and the map will close. Once back in flight, simply press J to engage Cruise.
If you do not have enough fuel, the map remains open and you will receive a warning instead.
The new shortcut has also been added to the Flight & Navigation CODEX section.
CODEX Improvements
The Saving & Insurance section has been expanded to explain Insurance Station saves, Relay Satellite saves, and temporary Save & Quit saves.
Long CODEX entries can now be scrolled with the mouse wheel, with proper text clipping and a scrollbar. This also prevents longer translations from overflowing outside the CODEX panel.
Mining Camp Fix
Fixed a crash that could occur while repairing damaged Mining Camps through the Operations interface.
Localization
New Save & Quit, Relay Satellite, Skill Respec, navigation, mission feedback, and CODEX text has been added across all currently supported languages.
Thanks again for all the reports and suggestions.
A number of the changes in this update — particularly Save & Quit, Skill Respec, Prototype mission fixes, and faster Local Scanner navigation — came directly from player feedback.
Please keep the reports coming. We’re reading them, investigating them, and continuing to improve Ore Bastards with each update.
Good hunts, Bastards!
