You can now build your datacenter empire with a friend. Co-op is live in this playtest build.
What's new
- Host Co-op: new button on the title screen. Pick a scenario and your session goes live over Steam.
- Joining: friends join from their Steam friends list (right-click your name, Join Game) or via a lobby invite. No IPs, no port forwarding, traffic rides Steam's relay network.
- Telepresence rigs: other players appear in your facility as wheeled telepresence robots, with live look direction, movement, and whatever they are carrying.
- Shared world: one simulation, everyone works the same floor. Cabling, racking, shopping, incidents, all of it.
- Co-op balance: demand and event intensity scale up with each extra player.
How it works
- The host owns the world. Saving and loading are host-only; the world persists in the host's saves.
- If the host leaves, the session ends and everyone else returns to the title screen.
- Co-op scenarios: Sandbox, Hard Mode, Data Loss Day, Under Attack. The campaign stays single player for now.
- Sessions are friends-only. Only the host's Steam friends can connect.
Known issues
- The in-game Invite Friends dialog needs the Steam overlay, so launch through Steam. Friends-list joins work regardless.
- Latency smoothing and remote-player prediction are still being tuned; expect some roughness.
- Co-op from an existing save is not in yet. Fresh runs only.
