The big change this build: it's fully first-person now. The old top bar is gone and the HUD has been rebuilt to stay out of your way while you're working the racks.
First-person HUD
- Top bar removed. Cash, MRR and tenant count now live in one place, the cash card at bottom-left, instead of being duplicated up top.
- Alerts come to you. Power headroom and new sales instead of sitting in a permanent gauge.
- New PLAIN / TECHNICAL readout up top shows which view you're in and changes colour when you flip it with Tab. Engineer jargon stays
behind the toggle, plain English is the default.
Performance
- Reworked the per-frame update path. Large data centers run noticeably smoother now, with less stutter as your fleet and cabling grow.
Staff specialists
- Hire from six specialist roles, each with a passive perk. Security Engineers boost firewall and inspection throughput, Support cuts customer churn, Network Engineers speed up switch recovery, Capacity Planners warn you before a surge hits. Managed from the reopened Staff tab.
Fixes
- Hosts now report honest online/offline. A host that was cabled but had a dead uplink chain used to show as online. It now reads real serviceability, so a stranded host correctly shows offline.
- Settings toggles no longer flip when you click the row. Only the switch is the hit target now, so you won't accidentally drain a host.
- Quest list collapse shows its [G] key inline.
- Dead-code cleanup and copy fixes.
Under the hood, for the engineers
- The host tooltip was inferring "online" from whether any cable touched it (used > 0). It now reads a real HostView.online field
from the engine's host_is_serviceable check: powerelive uplink chain. Cabled-but-dead-upstream readsoffline, as it should.
- This is a wire-protocol change (PROTOCOL_VERSION 6) with capnp parity coverage so the client and engine stay in lockstep. Nothing to do on your end, the build ships a matched engine and client.
