The release date for Dead Stadium: The Extinction Protocol is now set for October 27, 2026, and the game is officially registered for Steam Next Fest: October 19-26.
That gives us a clear mission: build the strongest possible demo, polish the core survival loop, and make the stadium feel more alive, more dangerous, and more rewarding to come back to.
Over the last stretch of development, a lot has changed.
The weapon system has been rebuilt around safer low-poly weapons, with a full armory wall where players can buy and swap guns during a run. The game now has a bigger arsenal, clearer weapon identities, and better groundwork for long-term upgrades and progression.
The stadium itself is also becoming more important. The lights, jumbotron, crowd, armory, and band are all being pushed toward one goal: making the arena feel like a place you survive inside, not just a flat map with enemies on it.
I’ve also been experimenting with bigger horde behavior. Not just individual zombies walking at the player, but waves of enemies that create pressure, flow through the stadium, and eventually make the battlefield feel like it is changing under you. Some of that tech is still experimental, but it is shaping the long-term identity of the game: zombie siege, impossible hordes, and an arena that gets more chaotic the longer you survive.
There is also a new soundtrack direction being tested. Instead of only using fixed background music, I’m working on a system where players can unlock instruments, sounds, chants, and stadium audio pieces to build their own run soundtrack. The band on the jumbotron is not just decoration anymore. It is becoming part of the game’s personality.
And yes, something bigger is being prototyped behind the scenes.
I do not want to promise too much too early, but the game is being built with the future in mind: shared chaos, coordinated survival, and the feeling that surviving the stadium does not have to be a solo act forever. More on that when it is ready to show properly.
The new timeline gives the game room to become stronger before launch:
Demo target: early October
Steam Next Fest: October 19-26
Release: October 27, 2026
The focus now is simple: make the demo fun, stable, intense, and worth wishlisting.
Thank you to everyone following the project this early. Dead Stadium is still growing fast, and the next version should feel much closer to the game it is meant to become.
