StarFrame Update — July 29, 2026
⚔️ Combat
- All your missile launchers fire now. Fitting two used to give you one — every shot from the second died "no lock". Each has its own magazine and its own cadence, and each still has to respect its own range and firing cone.
- Fixed a launcher stuck on RELOAD forever. Only one launcher was having its reload ticked, and magazines are saved, so it survived logging out. Stuck racks repair themselves on load.
- Missile lock only starts once the launcher is armed, and you can cancel one mid-acquire.
- The three separate threat warnings are one banner at the top of the screen. It carries the incoming missile's distance, and now covers WEBBED and CONTROL HELD too.
- Countermeasures are always online and no longer take a number key.
- Flare recharge is longer: 30 / 25 / 20 / 15 seconds by tier, up from 15 / 14 / 13 / 12.
- Fixed the "you are being targeted" warning staying lit permanently. It counted the existence of a lock record, which is written before any range or angle check and never cleared.
🚀 Flight
- Cruise flies straight instead of jackknifing around.
- You can stop following a party leader from any distance. Three ways out were dead at once: the button, the key, and flying away.
🗺️ Rifts
- Enemy counts scale per player. Two players used to fight 2 / 3 / 1 — identical to solo. It is 4 / 4 / 2 now. Solo rifts are unchanged.
- Every party boss room is shielded pirates, one per player. The old boss was statistically the same ship as a normal pirate. These have a real shield that has to be broken down.
- Completing a rift pays every surviving pilot 1,500 credits per stratum. You have to be alive, in your own ship, and present at the extract.
- Fixed your party being disbanded when you enter a rift.
🔧 Fitting
- Rig bonuses apply the moment you fit the rig. Max speed and max hull stayed inert until you unfitted and refitted.
- Swapping a better-rolled rig for a worse-rolled one of the same name actually swaps now. It used to do nothing.
- Rigs no longer take a hotkey slot.
🔧 Salvagers
- The salvager puts its haul straight into your cargo. No more running the beam and then looting the thing you just salvaged.
- The haul is yours, not the group's. Anyone in range could loot the scrap after a salvager run before. A group needs a salvager each now.
🎓 Skills
- Targeting XP no longer accrues without a targeting computer fitted.
🔊 Audio
- Ships have new running engine audio. A slow diesel thump at rest that speeds up in cruise.
🖥️ UI & Quality of Life
- Text in the middle of the screen is gone. Status lines are at the bottom, threat warnings at the top.
- Messages queue instead of wiping each other out. Fire off several at once and each gets its turn.
- Module boxes are bigger and split onto three lines. Long names and states no longer bleed across their neighbors. Names over 24 characters truncate in the middle and keep the tier.
- The skills panel remembers the open skill and any sections you collapsed.
- Space dust reaches further out the faster you fly.
- Scanning and salvaging progress moved from under the crosshair to the bottom of the screen.
- The mining percentage readout is gone — the oscilloscope already shows it, with a multiplier and an ETA.
- F10 hides the rift clock now too.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Fixed rings on large objects being clipped when you looked straight at them.
🔩 Misc
- Ambient occlusion is off. It was rendering every frame and feeding nothing, because none of the wireframe shaders read it - Huge performance gain on weaker GPUs.
